Psalm 119:9-16

Beth

How can the young keep his way without fault?
    Only by observing your words.
10 With all my heart I seek you;
    do not let me stray from your commandments.
11 In my heart I treasure your promise,
    that I may not sin against you.
12 Blessed are you, O Lord;
    teach me your statutes.(A)
13 With my lips I recite
    all the judgments you have spoken.
14 I find joy in the way of your testimonies
    more than in all riches.
15 I will ponder your precepts
    and consider your paths.
16 In your statutes I take delight;
    I will never forget your word.

Isaiah 44:1-8

Chapter 44

Hear then, Jacob, my servant,
    Israel, whom I have chosen.
Thus says the Lord who made you,
    your help, who formed you from the womb:
Do not fear, Jacob, my servant,
    Jeshurun,[a] whom I have chosen.
I will pour out water upon the thirsty ground,
    streams upon the dry land;
I will pour out my spirit upon your offspring,
    my blessing upon your descendants.
They shall spring forth amid grass
    like poplars beside flowing waters.(A)
One shall say, “I am the Lord’s,”
    another shall be named after Jacob,
And this one shall write on his hand,[b] “The Lord’s,”
    and receive the name Israel.(B)

The True God and False Gods

[c]Thus says the Lord, Israel’s king,
    its redeemer, the Lord of hosts:
I am the first, I am the last;
    there is no God but me.[d](C)
Who is like me? Let him stand up and declare,
    make it evident, and confront me with it.
Who of old announced future events?
    Let them foretell to us the things to come.
Do not fear or be troubled.
Did I not announce it to you long ago?
    I declared it, and you are my witnesses.
Is there any God but me?
    There is no other Rock,[e] I know of none!(D)

Acts 2:14-24

II. The Mission in Jerusalem

Peter’s Speech at Pentecost. 14 [a]Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and proclaimed to them, “You who are Jews, indeed all of you staying in Jerusalem. Let this be known to you, and listen to my words. 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o’clock in the morning. 16 No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:

17 ‘It will come to pass in the last days,’ God says,
    ‘that I will pour out a portion of my spirit
    upon all flesh.
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
    your young men shall see visions,
    your old men shall dream dreams.(A)
18 Indeed, upon my servants and my handmaids
    I will pour out a portion of my spirit in those days,
        and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will work wonders in the heavens above
    and signs on the earth below:
        blood, fire, and a cloud of smoke.
20 The sun shall be turned to darkness,
    and the moon to blood,
        before the coming of the great and splendid day of the Lord,
21 and it shall be that everyone shall be saved who calls on the name of the Lord.’(B)

22 You who are Israelites, hear these words. Jesus the Nazorean was a man commended to you by God with mighty deeds, wonders, and signs, which God worked through him in your midst, as you yourselves know.(C) 23 This man, delivered up by the set plan and foreknowledge of God, you killed, using lawless men to crucify him.(D) 24 But God raised him up, releasing him from the throes of death, because it was impossible for him to be held by it.(E)
