Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Meditations and Prayers Relating to the Law of God.
Aleph.
119 How blessed are those whose way is [a](A)blameless,
Who (B)walk in the law of the Lord.
2 How blessed are those who (C)observe His testimonies,
Who (D)seek Him (E)with all their heart.
3 They also (F)do no unrighteousness;
They walk in His ways.
4 You have [b](G)ordained Your precepts,
[c]That we should keep them diligently.
5 Oh that my (H)ways may be established
To (I)keep Your statutes!
6 Then I (J)shall not be ashamed
When I look [d]upon all Your commandments.
7 I shall (K)give thanks to You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.
8 I shall keep Your statutes;
Do not (L)forsake me utterly!
32 ‘(A)You shall rise up before the grayheaded and honor the [a]aged, and you shall revere your God; I am the Lord.
33 ‘(B)When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. 34 The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and (C)you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.
35 ‘(D)You shall do no wrong in judgment, in measurement of weight, or capacity. 36 You shall have (E)just balances, just weights, a just [b]ephah, and a just [c]hin; I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from the land of Egypt. 37 You shall thus observe all My statutes and all My ordinances and do them; I am the Lord.’”
Justification by Faith
21 But now apart [a]from the Law (A)the righteousness of God has been manifested, being (B)witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the (C)righteousness of God through (D)faith (E)in Jesus Christ for (F)all those [b]who believe; for (G)there is no distinction; 23 for all [c](H)have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift (I)by His grace through (J)the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as (K)a [d]propitiation [e](L)in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, [f]because in the (M)forbearance of God He (N)passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who [g]has faith in Jesus.
27 Where then is (O)boasting? It is excluded. By (P)what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. 28 [h]For (Q)we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works [i]of the Law. 29 Or (R)is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since indeed (S)God (T)who will justify the [j]circumcised [k]by faith and the [l]uncircumcised through faith (U)is one.
31 Do we then nullify [m]the Law through faith? (V)May it never be! On the contrary, we (W)establish the Law.
