Psalm 29

The Voice of the Lord in the Storm.

A Psalm of David.

29 (A)Ascribe to the Lord, [a]sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory [b]due His name;
Worship the Lord (B)in holy attire.

The (C)voice of the Lord is on the waters;
The God of glory (D)thunders,
The Lord is over [c](E)many waters.
The voice of the Lord is (F)powerful,
The voice of the Lord is majestic.
The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
Yes, the Lord breaks (G)the cedars of Lebanon in pieces.
He makes Lebanon (H)skip like a calf,
And (I)Sirion like a young wild ox.
The voice of the Lord divides [d]flames of fire.
The voice of the Lord [e]shakes the wilderness;
The Lord shakes the wilderness of (J)Kadesh.
The voice of the Lord makes (K)the deer give birth
And strips the forests bare;
And (L)in His temple everything says, “Glory!”

10 The Lord sat as King at the (M)flood;
Yes, the Lord sits as (N)King forever.
11 [f]The Lord will give (O)strength to His people;
[g]The Lord will bless His people with (P)peace.

Isaiah 5:15-24

15 So the common people will be humbled and the person of importance brought low,
(A)The eyes of the haughty also will be brought low.
16 But the (B)Lord of armies will be (C)exalted in judgment,
And the holy God will show Himself (D)holy in righteousness.
17 (E)Then the lambs will graze as in their pasture,
And strangers will eat in the ruins of the [a]wealthy.

18 Woe to those who drag (F)wrongdoing with the cords of [b]deceit,
And sin as if with cart ropes;
19 (G)Who say, “Let Him hurry, let Him do His work quickly, so that we may see it;
And let the plan of the Holy One of Israel approach
And come to pass, so that we may know it!”
20 Woe to those who (H)call evil good, and good evil;
Who [c](I)substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who [d]substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe to those who are (J)wise in their own eyes
And [e]clever in their own sight!
22 (K)Woe to those who are heroes in drinking wine,
And valiant men in mixing intoxicating drink,
23 (L)Who declare the wicked innocent for a bribe,
And (M)take away the [f]rights of the ones who are in the right!

24 Therefore, (N)as a tongue of fire consumes stubble,
And dry grass collapses in the flame,
So their (O)root will become (P)like rot, and their blossom [g]blow away like dust;
For they have (Q)rejected the Law of the Lord of armies,
And discarded the word of the Holy One of Israel.

John 15:18-20

Disciples’ Relation to the World

18 (A)If the world hates you, [a]you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but (B)I chose you out of the world, (C)because of this the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘(D)A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, (E)they will persecute you as well; if they (F)followed My word, they will follow yours also.

John 15:26-27

26 “When the [a](A)Helper comes, (B)whom I will send to you from the Father, namely, (C)the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, (D)He will testify about Me, 27 and [b](E)you are testifying as well, because you have been with Me (F)from the beginning.
