Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
The people He has (A)chosen as His own inheritance.
13 (B)The Lord looks from heaven;
He sees all the sons of men.
14 From the place of His dwelling He looks
On all the inhabitants of the earth;
15 He fashions their hearts individually;
(C)He [a]considers all their works.
16 (D)No king is saved by the multitude of an army;
A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
17 (E)A horse is a [b]vain hope for safety;
Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.
18 (F)Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
On those who hope in His mercy,
19 To deliver their soul from death,
And (G)to keep them alive in famine.
20 Our soul waits for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield.
21 For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
Because we have trusted in His holy name.
22 Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us,
Just as we hope in You.
4 (A)This is the [a]history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, 5 before any (B)plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not (C)caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man (D)to till the ground; 6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.
7 And the Lord God formed man of the (E)dust of the ground, and (F)breathed into his (G)nostrils the breath of life; and (H)man became a living being.
42 (A)So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. 43 (B)It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, (C)“The first man Adam became a living being.” (D)The last Adam became (E)a life-giving spirit.
46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. 47 (F)The first man was of the earth, (G)made[a] of dust; the second Man is [b]the Lord (H)from heaven. 48 As was the [c]man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; (I)and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 And (J)as we have borne the image of the man of dust, (K)we[d] shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.
