2 Samuel 7:1-11

The Ark of God Inhabits a Tent

(A)Now it happened when the king inhabited his house, and Yahweh had given him rest on every side from all his enemies, that the king said to (B)Nathan the prophet, “See now, I inhabit (C)a house of cedar, but the ark of God (D)inhabits tent curtains.” So Nathan said to the king, “(E)Go, do all that is in your heart, for Yahweh is with you.”

Now it happened in the same night, that the word of Yahweh came to Nathan, saying, “Go and say to My servant David, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “(F)Are you the one who would build Me a house to inhabit? For (G)I have not inhabited a house since the day I brought up the sons of Israel from Egypt, even to this day; but I have been going about (H)in a tent, even in a [a]tabernacle. (I)Wherever I have gone about with all the sons of Israel, did I speak a word with one of the tribes of Israel, (J)which I commanded to shepherd My people Israel, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’”’

David’s House Will Be Established Forever

So now, thus you shall say to My servant David, ‘Thus says Yahweh of hosts, “(K)I Myself took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, (L)to be ruler over My people Israel. (M)And I have been with you wherever you have gone and (N)have cut off all your enemies from before you; and I will make you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth. 10 And I will appoint a place for My people Israel and (O)will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place and not be disturbed again; (P)and the [b]unrighteous will not afflict them any more as formerly, 11 even (Q)from the day that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel; and (R)I will give you rest from all your enemies. Yahweh also declares to you that (S)Yahweh will make a house for you.

2 Samuel 7:16

16 (A)And your house and your kingdom shall [a]endure before [b]Me forever; your throne shall be established forever.”’”

Luke 1:46-55

Mary Magnifies the Lord

46 And Mary said:

(A)My soul (B)magnifies the [a]Lord,
47 And (C)my spirit has rejoiced in (D)God my Savior.
48 For (E)He has looked upon the humble state of His slave,
For behold, from this time on, all generations will count me (F)blessed.
49 For the Mighty One has done great things for me,
And holy is His name.
50 (G)And His mercy is [b]upon generation after generation
Toward those who fear Him.
51 (H)He has done a mighty deed with His arm;
He has scattered those who were proud in the [c]thoughts of their heart.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones,
And has (I)exalted those who were humble.
53 (J)He has filled the hungry with good things,
And sent away the rich empty-handed.
54 He has given help to Israel His servant,
[d]In remembrance of His mercy,
55 (K)As He spoke to our fathers,
(L)To Abraham and his seed forever.”

Psalm 89:1-4

Sing of the Lovingkindness of Yahweh Forever

A [a]Maskil of [b]Ethan [c]the Ezrahite.

89 I will (A)sing of the lovingkindnesses of Yahweh forever;
From generation to generation I will (B)make known Your (C)faithfulness with my mouth.
For I have said, “(D)Lovingkindness will be built up forever;
In the heavens You will establish Your (E)faithfulness.”
“I have cut a covenant with (F)My chosen;
I have (G)sworn to David My [d]servant,
I will establish your (H)seed forever
And build up your (I)throne from generation to generation.” [e]Selah.

Psalm 89:19-26

19 Formerly You spoke in vision to Your [a]holy [b]ones,
And said, “I have bestowed help to a (A)mighty one;
I have exalted one (B)chosen from the people.
20 I have (C)found David My [c]servant;
With My holy (D)oil I have anointed him,
21 With whom (E)My hand will be established;
My arm also will (F)strengthen him.
22 The enemy will not [d]deceive him,
Nor the [e](G)son of unrighteousness afflict him.
23 But I shall (H)crush his adversaries before him,
And strike those who hate him.
24 My (I)faithfulness and My lovingkindness will be with him,
And in My name his (J)horn will be exalted.
25 I shall also set his hand (K)on the sea
And his right hand on the rivers.
26 He will call to Me, ‘You are (L)my Father,
My God, and the (M)rock of my salvation.’

Romans 16:25-27

25 (A)Now to Him who is able to strengthen you (B)according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of (C)the mystery which has been kept secret for (D)long ages past, 26 but now is manifested, and by (E)the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the Gentiles, leading to (F)obedience of faith; 27 to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, (G)be the glory forever. Amen.

Luke 1:26-38

Jesus’ Birth Foretold

26 Now in the sixth month the angel (A)Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called (B)Nazareth, 27 to (C)a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, (D)of the [a]house of David, and the virgin’s name was [b]Mary. 28 And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, [c]favored one! The Lord [d]is with you.” 29 But she (E)was very perplexed at this statement, and was pondering what kind of greeting this was. 30 And the angel said to her, “(F)Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you (G)shall name Him Jesus. 32 [e]He will be great and will be called the Son of (H)the Most High, and the [f]Lord God will give Him (I)the throne of His father David, 33 (J)and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, (K)and there will be no end of His kingdom.” 34 But Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I [g]am a virgin?” 35 The angel answered and said to her, “(L)The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of (M)the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason [h](N)the holy Child shall be called (O)the Son of God. 36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For [i](P)nothing will be impossible with God.” 38 And Mary said, “Behold, the slave of the [j]Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
