^14 (A)And the anger of Yahweh burned against Israel, and He gave them into the hands of plunderers who plundered them; and ^(B)He sold them into the hands of their enemies around them, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies. ¹⁵ Wherever they went, the hand of Yahweh was against them for evil, as Yahweh had spoken and ^(C)as Yahweh had sworn to them, so that they were severely distressed.

Yahweh Raises Up Judges

^16 (D)Then Yahweh raised up judges ^[a]who saved them from the hands of those who plundered them.

⁹ But ^(A)they forgot Yahweh their God, so ^(B)He sold them into the hand of Sisera, commander of the army of Hazor, and ^(C)into the hand of the Philistines and ^(D)into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them. ^10 (E)And they cried out to Yahweh and said, ‘We have sinned because we have forsaken Yahweh and have served ^(F)the Baals and the Ashtaroth; but ^(G)now deliver us from the hands of our enemies, and we will serve You.’ ¹¹ Then Yahweh sent ^(H)Jerubbaal and ^[a](I)Bedan and ^(J)Jephthah and ^(K)Samuel, and He delivered you from the hands of your enemies all around, so that you lived in security.
