Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
128 He showeth that blessedness appertaineth not to all universally, but to them only that fear the Lord, and walk in his ways.
A song of degrees.
1 Blessed is everyone that feareth the Lord, and walketh in his [a]ways.
2 When thou eatest the labors of thine [b]hands, thou shalt be blessed, and it shall be well with thee.
3 Thy wife shall be as the fruitful vine on the sides of thine house, and thy [c]children like the olive plants round about thy table.
4 Lo, surely thus shall the man be blessed, that feareth the Lord.
5 The Lord out of Zion shall [d]bless thee, and thou shalt see the wealth of [e]Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel.
22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God, I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine [a]holy Name’s sake, which ye polluted among the heathen, whither ye went.
23 And I will sanctify my great Name, which was polluted among the heathen, among whom you have polluted it, and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before [b]their eyes.
24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
25 Then will I pour clean [c]water upon you, and ye shall be clean: yea, from all your filthiness, and from all your idols will I cleanse you.
26 (A)A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you, and I will take away the stony heart out of your body, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments and do them.
28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
29 I will also deliver you from all your filthiness, and I will call for [d]corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.
30 For I will multiply the fruit of the trees, and the increase of the field, that ye shall bear no more the reproach of famine among the heathen.
31 Then shall ye remember your own wicked ways, and your deeds that were not good, and shall judge yourselves worthy to have been [e]destroyed for your iniquities, and for your abominations.
32 Be it known unto you that I do not this for your sakes, saith the Lord God: therefore, O ye house of Israel, be ashamed and confounded for your own ways.
53 [a]And every man went unto his own house.
8 3 The woman taken in adultery, 11 hath her sins forgiven her. 12 Christ the light of the world. 19 The Pharisees ask where his Father is. 39 The sons of Abraham. 42 The sons of God, 44 The devil the father of lying. 56 Abraham saw Christ’s day.
1 And Jesus went unto the mount of Olives,
2 And early in the morning came again into the Temple, and all the people came unto him, and he sat down and taught them.
3 [b]Then the Scribes and the Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery, and set her in the midst,
4 And said unto him, Master, we found this woman committing adultery even in the very act.
5 (A)Now Moses in our Law commanded, that such should be stoned: what sayest thou therefore?
6 And this they said to tempt him, that they might have, whereof to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground,
7 [c]And while they continued asking him, he lifted himself up, and said unto them, (B)Let him that is among you without sin, cast the first stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And when they heard it, being accused by their own conscience, they went out, one by one, beginning at the eldest even to the last: so Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 [d]When Jesus had lifted up himself again, and saw no man, but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said, Neither do I condemn thee: go and sin no more.
