²² And he rose up that night, and took his two wives and his two womenservants and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.

²³ And he took them and sent them over the brook, and sent over what he had.

²⁴ And Jacob was left alone, and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

²⁵ And when the man saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint as he wrestled with him.

²⁶ And the man said, “Let me go, for the day breaketh.” And he said, “I will not let thee go, unless thou bless me.”

²⁷ And he said unto him, “What is thy name?” And he said, “Jacob.”

²⁸ And he said, “Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel; for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.”

²⁹ And Jacob asked him, and said, “Tell me, I pray thee, thy name.” And he said, “Why is it that thou dost ask after my name?” And he blessed him there.

³⁰ And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel [that is, The face of God]: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

³¹ And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he limped upon his thigh.

121 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help!

² My help cometh from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

³ He will not permit thy foot to be moved; He that keepeth thee will not slumber.

⁴ Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

⁵ The Lord is thy keeper; the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.

⁶ The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

⁷ The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil; He shall preserve thy soul.

⁸ The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

¹⁴ But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing from whom thou hast learned them,

¹⁵ and that from childhood thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

¹⁶ All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

¹⁷ that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly equipped for all good works.

4 I charge thee therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom:

² preach the Word; be instant in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but having itching ears, they shall heap to themselves teachers in accordance with their own lusts.

⁴ And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned toward fables.

⁵ But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry.

18 And He spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray and not to faint,

² saying, “There was in a city a judge who feared not God, neither regarded man.

³ And there was a widow in that city, and she came unto him, saying, ‘Avenge me on mine adversary.’

⁴ And for a while he would not, but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I fear not God nor regard man,

⁵ yet because this widow troubleth me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’”

⁶ And the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge saith.

⁷ And shall not God avenge His own elect, who cry day and night unto Him, though He bear long with them?

⁸ I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of Man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth?”
