Genesis 18:20-32

20 Then the LORD said, “Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great and because their sin is exceedingly grievous,

21 “I will go down now and see whether they have done entirely according to that cry which has come to Me. And if not, I will know.”

22 And the men turned from there and went toward Sodom. But Abraham still stood before the LORD.

23 Then Abraham drew near, and said, “Will you also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

24 “If there are fifty righteous within the city, will you destroy (and not spare the place) because of the fifty righteous that are therein?

25 “Be it far from You from doing this thing—to slay the righteous with the wicked—and that the righteous should be even as the wicked. Be it far from You! Shall not the Judge of all the world do right?”

26 And the LORD answered, “If I shall find fifty righteous within the city of Sodom, then will I spare all the place for their sakes.”

27 Then Abraham answered and said, “Behold now, I have begun to speak to my Lord; and I am but dust and ashes.

28 “If there shall be five less than fifty righteous, will You destroy all the city for five?” And He said, “If I find forty-five there, I will not destroy it.”

29 And he spoke to Him yet again, and said, “What if there shall be found forty there?” Then He answered, “I will not do it for forty’s sake.”

30 Again he said, “Do not let my Lord now be angry at what I speak. What if thirty are found there?” Then He said, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.”

31 Moreover he said, “Behold now, I have begun to speak to my Lord. What if twenty are found there?” And He answered, “I will not destroy it for twenty’s sake.”

32 Then he said, “Do not let my Lord now be angry, and I will speak but once more. What if ten are found there?” And He answered, “I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.”

Psalm 138

138 I will praise You with my whole heart; before the gods I will praise You.

I will worship toward Your Holy Temple, and praise Your Name, because of Your lovingkindness and for Your Truth; for You have magnified Your Name by Your Word above all things.

When I called, then You heard me and increased strength in my soul.

All the kings of the Earth shall praise You, O LORD; for they have heard the words of Your mouth.

And they shall sing of the ways of the LORD, because the Glory of the LORD is great.

For the LORD is high, yet He beholds the lowly; but He knows the proud afar off.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me. You will stretch forth Your hand upon the wrath of my enemies; and Your right hand shall save me.

The LORD will perform toward me. O LORD, Your mercy endures forever! Do not forsake the works of Your hands. To him who excels: A Psalm of David

Colossians 2:6-15

Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him;

being rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith as you have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Beware, lest anyone spoil you through philosophy and empty deceit according to the traditions of man, according to the principles of the world and not according to Christ.

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead, bodily.

10 And you are complete in Him Who is the Head of all principality and power.

11 In Him also are you circumcised, with circumcision made without hands, by putting off the sinful body of the flesh through the circumcision of Christ,

12 buried with Him in baptism (in which you are also risen with Him through the faith of the working of God, Who raised Him from the dead).

13 And you, who were dead in sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, forgiving all trespasses

14 and blotting out the handwriting of the ordinances against us which opposed us. He has taken it out of the way and fastened it upon the cross.

15 And having disarmed the rulers and authorities, and having made a show of them openly, He has triumphed over them in it.

Colossians 2:16-19

16 Therefore, let no one judge you as regards food and drink, or regarding a holy day or the new moon or the Sabbath,

17 which are a shadow of things to come. But the body is of Christ.

18 Let no one, at his pleasure, bear rule over you by his humbleness of mind and his worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he has never seen, being rashly puffed up with his fleshly mind

19 and not taking hold of the Head (from Whom all the body, supplied and knit together by joints and bonds, grows with a growth that is from God).

Luke 11:1-13

11 And so it was that as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray as John also taught his disciples.”

And He said to them, “When you pray, say, ‘Our Father, Who are in Heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come. Let Your will be done even on Earth, as in Heaven.

‘Give us our daily bread each day.

‘And forgive us our sins. As we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into trial. But deliver us from the evil one.’”

Moreover He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight, and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves.

‘For a friend of mine has come out of the way to me, and I have nothing to set before him.’

“And the one inside answers, and says, ‘Do not trouble me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot rise and give them to you!’

“I say to you that though he would not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet he would undoubtedly rise and give him as many as he needed because of his persistence.

“And I say to you, ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.

10 “For everyone who asks, receives. And the one who seeks, finds. And to the one who knocks, it shall be opened.

11 “If a son shall ask for bread from any of you who is a father, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead?

12 “Or if he asks for an egg, will he give him a scorpion?

13 “If you, then, who are evil, can give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Ghost to those who desire Him?
