8 Unto the end, for the presses: a psalm of David.

² O Lord our Lord, how admirable is thy name in the whole earth! For thy magnificence is elevated above the heavens.

³ Out of the mouth of infants and of sucklings thou hast perfected praise, because of thy enemies, that thou mayst destroy the enemy and the avenger.

⁴ For I will behold thy heavens, the works of thy fingers: the moon and the stars which thou hast founded.

⁵ What is man that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him?

⁶ Thou hast made him a little less than the angels, thou hast crowned him with glory and honour:

⁷ And hast set him over the works of thy hands.

⁸ Thou hast subjected all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen: moreover the beasts also of the fields.

⁹ The birds of the air, and the fishes of the sea, that pass through the paths of the sea.

¹⁰ O Lord our Lord, how admirable is thy name in all the earth!

²² At the same time Abimelech, and Phicol the general of his army said to Abraham: God is with thee in all that thou dost.

²³ Swear therefore by God, that thou wilt not hurt me, nor my posterity, nor my stock: but according to the kindness that I have done to thee, thou shalt do to me, and to the land wherein thou hast lived a stranger.

²⁴ And Abraham said: I will swear.

²⁵ And he reproved Abimelech for a well of water, which his servants had taken away by force.

²⁶ And Abimelech answered: I knew not who did this thing: and thou didst not tell me, and I heard not of it till to day.

²⁷ And Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech: and both of them made a league.

²⁸ And Abraham set apart seven ewe lambs of the flock.

²⁹ And Abimelech said to him: What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set apart?

³⁰ But he said: Thou shalt take seven ewe lambs at my hand: that they may be a testimony for me, that I dug this well.

³¹ Therefore that place was called Bersabee: because there both of them did swear.

³² And they made a league for the well of oath.

³³ And Abimelech, and Phicol the general of his army arose and returned to the land of the Palestines. But Abraham planted a grove in Bersabee, and there called upon the name of the Lord God eternal.

³⁴ And he was a sojourner in the land of the Palestines many days.

8 There is now therefore no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh.

² For the law of the spirit of life, in Christ Jesus, hath delivered me from the law of sin and of death.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh; God sending his own Son, in the likeness of sinful flesh and of sin, hath condemned sin in the flesh;

⁴ That the justification of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the spirit.

⁵ For they that are according to the flesh, mind the things that are of the flesh; but they that are according to the spirit, mind the things that are of the spirit.

⁶ For the wisdom of the flesh is death; but the wisdom of the spirit is life and peace.

⁷ Because the wisdom of the flesh is an enemy to God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither can it be.

⁸ And they who are in the flesh, cannot please God.

⁹ But you are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

¹⁰ And if Christ be in you, the body indeed is dead, because of sin; but the spirit liveth, because of justification.

¹¹ And if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead, dwell in you; he that raised up Jesus Christ from the dead, shall quicken also your mortal bodies, because of his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
