Psalm 96:1-9

Praise for the Lord’s Glory

96 Sing to the Lord a new song [C celebrating victory; 33:3; 40:3; 98:1; 144:9; 149:1; Is. 42:10; Rev. 5:9; 14:3];
sing to the Lord, all the earth.

Sing to the Lord and ·praise [bless] his name;
    every day ·tell [announce the good news] ·how he saves us [L of his salvation/victory].
Tell the nations of his glory [C his manifest presence];
    tell all peoples the ·miracles [wonderful acts] he does,

because the Lord is great; he should be praised ·at all times [or with vigor].
    He ·should be honored [is awesome; should be feared] more than all the gods,
because all the gods of the nations are ·only idols [or worthless],
    but the Lord made the heavens [Gen. 1].
The Lord has ·glory [splendor] and majesty;
    he has power and beauty in his ·Temple [sanctuary; L Holy Place].

·Praise [L Ascribe to] the Lord, all ·nations on earth [L families of peoples];
    ·praise the Lord’s [L ascribe to the Lord] glory and power.
·Praise the glory of the Lord’s [L Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his] name.
    Bring an ·offering [grain/gift/tribute sacrifice; Lev. 2:1] and come into his Temple courtyards.
·Worship [Bow down to] the Lord ·because he is holy [L in the splendor of his holiness].
    Tremble before him, everyone on earth.

1 Kings 8:14-21

14 While all the ·Israelites [congregation/community/assembly of Israel] were standing there, King Solomon turned to them and blessed them.

15 Then he said, “·Praise [Blessed be] the Lord, the God of Israel. He has ·done [fulfilled] what he promised [L with his mouth] to my father David. The Lord said, 16 ‘Since the ·time [L day] I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel where a ·temple [L house] will be built ·for me [to honor my name; L for my name to be there]. But I have chosen David to ·lead [rule over] my people Israel.’

17 “My father David ·wanted [L had it in his heart/mind] to build a ·temple [L house] for the Lord, the God of Israel. 18 But the Lord said to my father David, ‘It was good that you ·wanted [L had it in your heart/mind] to build a ·temple [L house] for me. 19 But you are not the one to build it. Your son, who ·comes from your own body [will be born from you], is the one who will build my ·temple [L house] ·for my name [to honor my name; 2 Sam. 7:13].’

20 “Now the Lord has ·kept [fulfilled] his promise. I ·am the king now [L have risen] in place of David my father. Now I ·rule [L sit on the throne of] Israel as the Lord promised, and I have built the ·Temple [L house] ·for [to honor; L for the name of] the Lord, the God of Israel. 21 I have ·made [prepared; provided] a place there for the Ark, in which is the ·Agreement [Covenant; Treaty; Ex. 25:10] the Lord made with our ancestors when he brought them out of Egypt.”

2 Corinthians 11:1-6

Paul and the False Apostles

11 I wish you would be patient with me even ·when I am a little foolish [in a little foolishness], but you are already doing that. [L For] I am jealous over you with a ·jealousy that comes from God [or godly jealousy]. I promised to give you to Christ, as your only husband. I want to give you as his pure ·bride [L virgin]. But I am afraid that your minds will be ·led away [or corrupted] from your ·true [sincere] and pure following of Christ just as Eve was ·tricked [deceived] by the ·snake [serpent] with his ·evil ways [cunning; craftiness; Gen. 3:1–6]. You ·are very patient with [willingly put up with; gladly tolerate] anyone who comes to you and preaches a different Jesus from the one we preached. You are very willing to accept a spirit that is different from the Spirit you received, or a gospel that is different from the one you ·accepted [or received from us].

I do not think that those “·great [super-] apostles” are any better than I am. I may not be a trained speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have shown this to you clearly in every way.
