Old/New Testament
Serve Yahweh with Gladness
A Psalm of [a]Thanksgiving.
100 (A)Make a loud shout to Yahweh, all the earth.
2 (B)Serve Yahweh with gladness;
(C)Come before Him with joyful songs.
3 Know that (D)Yahweh, He is God;
It is He who has (E)made us, and [b]not we ourselves;
We are (F)His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates (G)with [c]thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, (H)bless His name.
5 For (I)Yahweh is good;
(J)His lovingkindness endures forever
And His (K)faithfulness, generation unto generation.
Consider the Way of the Blameless
Of David. A Psalm.
101 I will (L)sing of lovingkindness and [d]justice,
To You, O Yahweh, I will sing praises.
2 I will [e](M)consider the way of the blameless.
When will You come to me?
I will walk within my house in the [f](N)integrity of my heart.
3 I will set no (O)vile thing before my eyes;
I hate the [g]work of those who (P)fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
4 A (Q)crooked heart shall depart from me;
I will know no evil.
5 Whoever secretly (R)slanders his neighbor, him I will [h]destroy;
Whoever has a (S)haughty look and an arrogant heart, I will not endure.
6 My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may abide with me;
He who walks in the (T)way of the blameless is the one who will minister to me.
7 He who (U)practices deceit shall not dwell within my house;
He who speaks lies (V)shall not be established before my eyes.
8 (W)Every morning I will [i](X)destroy all the wicked of the land,
To (Y)cut off from the (Z)city of Yahweh all the workers of iniquity.
Do Not Hide Your Face from Me
A Prayer of the afflicted when he is faint and [j]pours out his complaint before Yahweh.
102 (AA)O Yahweh, hear my prayer!
And let my cry for help (AB)come to You.
2 (AC)Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress;
(AD)Incline Your ear to me;
In the day when I call (AE)answer me quickly.
3 For my days (AF)have [k]vanished in smoke,
And my (AG)bones have been scorched like a hearth.
4 My heart (AH)has been stricken like [l]grass and it has (AI)dried up,
Indeed, I (AJ)forget to eat my bread.
5 Because of the sound of my groaning
My (AK)bones [m]cling to my flesh.
6 I resemble a (AL)pelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the waste places.
7 I (AM)lie awake,
I have become like a lonely bird on a roof.
8 My enemies (AN)have reproached me all day long;
Those who [n](AO)ridicule me (AP)swear against me.
9 For I have eaten ashes like bread
And (AQ)mixed my drinks with weeping
10 (AR)Because of Your indignation and Your wrath,
For You have (AS)lifted me up and cast me away.
11 My days are like an (AT)outstretched shadow,
And as for me, I (AU)dry up like [o]grass.
12 But You, O Yahweh, [p](AV)abide forever,
And the (AW)remembrance of Your name [q]from generation to generation.
13 You will (AX)arise and have (AY)compassion on Zion—
For (AZ)it is time to be gracious to it,
For the (BA)appointed time has come.
14 For Your slaves [r]find pleasure in its stones
And show grace to its dust—
15 [s]So the [t](BB)nations will fear the name of Yahweh
And (BC)all the kings of the earth Your glory.
16 For Yahweh has (BD)built up Zion;
He has (BE)appeared in His glory.
17 He has (BF)turned toward the prayer of the [u]destitute
And has not despised their prayer.
18 [v]This will be (BG)written for the (BH)generation to come,
And (BI)a people yet to be created will praise Yah.
19 For He (BJ)looked down from His holy height;
(BK)From heaven Yahweh gazed [w]upon the earth,
20 To hear the (BL)groaning of the prisoner,
To (BM)set free [x]those who were doomed to death,
21 To (BN)recount the name of Yahweh in Zion
And His praise in Jerusalem,
22 When (BO)the peoples are gathered together,
And the kingdoms, to serve Yahweh.
23 He has afflicted my strength in the way;
He has (BP)shortened my days.
24 I say, “O my God, (BQ)do not take me away in the [y]midst of my days,
Your (BR)years are from generation to all generations.
25 Of old You (BS)founded the earth,
And the (BT)heavens are the work of Your hands.
26 [z]Even they will (BU)perish, but You will remain;
And all of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.
27 But You are [aa](BV)the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.
28 The (BW)children of Your slaves will dwell securely,
And their (BX)seed will be established before You.”
Christ Is Undivided
1 Paul, (A)called as an apostle of Jesus Christ [a]by (B)the will of God, and (C)Sosthenes our (D)brother,
2 To (E)the church of God which is at (F)Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, (G)called as [b]saints, with all who in every place (H)call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:
3 (I)Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 (J)I thank [c]my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, 5 that in everything you were (K)enriched in Him, in all (L)word and (M)all knowledge, 6 even as (N)the witness about Christ was confirmed [d]in you, 7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, (O)eagerly awaiting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8 (P)who will also confirm you to the end, beyond reproach in (Q)the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 (R)God is faithful, through whom you were (S)called into (T)fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Now (U)I exhort you, (V)brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all [e]agree and that there be no [f](W)divisions among you, but that you be [g]made complete in (X)the same mind and in the same judgment. 11 For I have been informed concerning you, my brothers, by Chloe’s people, that there are quarrels among you. 12 Now I mean this, that (Y)each one of you is saying, “I am of Paul,” and “I of (Z)Apollos,” and “I of (AA)Cephas,” and “I of Christ.” 13 [h]Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you (AB)baptized [i]in the name of Paul? 14 [j]I thank God that I (AC)baptized none of you except (AD)Crispus and (AE)Gaius, 15 so that no one would say you were baptized [k]in my name. 16 Now I did baptize also the (AF)household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other. 17 (AG)For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to proclaim the gospel, (AH)not in wisdom of word, so that the cross of Christ will not be made empty.
Christ the Power and Wisdom of God
18 For the word of the cross is (AI)foolishness to (AJ)those who [l]are perishing, but to us who [m]are being saved, it is (AK)the power of God. 19 For it is written,
“(AL)I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.”
20 (AM)Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of (AN)this age? Has not God (AO)made foolish the wisdom of (AP)the world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, (AQ)the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, (AR)God was well-pleased, through the (AS)foolishness of the [n]message preached, to (AT)save those who believe. 22 For indeed (AU)Jews ask for [o]signs and Greeks search for wisdom, 23 but we preach [p](AV)Christ crucified, (AW)to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles (AX)foolishness, 24 but to those who are (AY)the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ (AZ)the power of God and (BA)the wisdom of God. 25 Because the (BB)foolishness of God is wiser than men, and (BC)the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For [q]consider your (BD)calling, brothers, that there were (BE)not many wise according to [r]the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble. 27 But (BF)God has chosen the foolish things of (BG)the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of (BH)the world to shame the things which are strong, 28 and the base things of (BI)the world and the despised God has chosen, (BJ)the things that are not, so that He may (BK)abolish the things that are, 29 so that (BL)no flesh may boast before God. 30 But by His doing you are in (BM)Christ Jesus, who became to us (BN)wisdom from God, [s]and (BO)righteousness and (BP)sanctification, and (BQ)redemption, 31 so that, just as it is written, “(BR)Let him who boasts, boast in the [t]Lord.”
