M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
Restoration Promised
30 “So it shall be when all of these things have come upon you, (A)the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you [a]call them to mind (B)in all nations where the Lord your God has banished you, 2 and you (C)return to the Lord your God and [b]obey Him (D)with all your heart and soul according to all that I command you today, you and your sons, 3 then the Lord your God will (E)restore [c]you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and (F)will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has (G)scattered you. 4 If your outcasts are at the ends of the [d]earth, (H)from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will [e]bring you back. 5 (I)The Lord your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and (J)multiply you more than your fathers.
6 “Moreover (K)the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your [f]descendants, (L)to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live. 7 (M)The Lord your God will [g]inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you. 8 And you shall again [h]obey the Lord, and observe all His commandments which I command you today. 9 (N)Then the Lord your God will [i]prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the [j]offspring of your [k]body and in the [l]offspring of your cattle and in the [m]produce of your ground, for (O)the Lord will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers; 10 [n]if you [o]obey the Lord your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which (P)are written in this book of the law, [p]if you turn to the Lord your God (Q)with all your heart and soul.
11 “For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it [q]out of reach. 12 It is not in heaven, [r]that you should say, ‘(R)Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’ 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, [s]that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’ 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.
Choose Life
15 “See, (S)I have set before you today life and [t]prosperity, and death and [u]adversity; 16 in that I command you today (T)to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you (U)may live and multiply, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. 17 But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today that (V)you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter [v]and possess it. 19 (W)I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, (X)the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your [w]descendants, 20 (Y)by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and (Z)by holding fast to Him; (AA)for [x]this is your life and the length of your days, [y]that you may live in (AB)the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”
Yodh.
73 (A)Your hands made me and [a]fashioned me;
(B)Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments.
74 May those who [b]fear You (C)see me and be glad,
Because I [c](D)wait for Your word.
75 I know, O Lord, that Your judgments are (E)righteous,
And that (F)in faithfulness You have afflicted me.
76 O may Your lovingkindness [d]comfort me,
According to Your [e]word to Your servant.
77 May (G)Your compassion come to me that I may live,
For Your law is my (H)delight.
78 May (I)the arrogant be ashamed, for they subvert me (J)with a lie;
But I shall (K)meditate on Your precepts.
79 May those who [f]fear You turn to me,
Even those who know Your testimonies.
80 May my heart be [g](L)blameless in Your statutes,
So that I will not (M)be ashamed.
Kaph.
81 My (N)soul languishes for Your salvation;
I [h](O)wait for Your word.
82 My (P)eyes fail with longing for Your [i]word,
[j]While I say, “When will You comfort me?”
83 Though I have (Q)become like a wineskin in the smoke,
I do (R)not forget Your statutes.
84 How many are the (S)days of Your servant?
When will You (T)execute judgment on those who persecute me?
85 The arrogant have (U)dug pits for me,
Men who are not [k]in accord with Your law.
86 All Your commandments are (V)faithful;
They have (W)persecuted me with a lie; (X)help me!
87 They almost destroyed me [l]on earth,
But as for me, I (Y)did not forsake Your precepts.
88 Revive me according to Your lovingkindness,
So that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth.
Lamedh.
89 (Z)Forever, O Lord,
Your word [m]is settled in heaven.
90 Your (AA)faithfulness continues [n]throughout all generations;
You (AB)established the earth, and it (AC)stands.
91 They stand this day according to Your (AD)ordinances,
For (AE)all things are Your servants.
92 If Your law had not been my (AF)delight,
Then I would have perished (AG)in my affliction.
93 I will (AH)never forget Your precepts,
For by them You have [o](AI)revived me.
94 I am Yours, (AJ)save me;
For I have (AK)sought Your precepts.
95 The wicked (AL)wait for me to destroy me;
I shall diligently consider Your testimonies.
96 I have seen [p]a limit to all perfection;
Your commandment is exceedingly broad.
Evil Leaders Rebuked
57 The righteous man perishes, and no man (A)takes it to heart;
And devout men are taken away, while no one understands.
For the righteous man is taken away from (B)evil,
2 He enters into peace;
They rest in their [a]beds,
Each one who (C)walked in his upright way.
3 “But come here, you sons of a (D)sorceress,
(E)Offspring of an adulterer and [b]a (F)prostitute.
4 “Against whom do you jest?
Against whom do you open wide your mouth
And stick out your tongue?
Are you not children of (G)rebellion,
Offspring of deceit,
5 Who inflame yourselves among the [c](H)oaks,
(I)Under every luxuriant tree,
Who (J)slaughter the children in the [d]ravines,
Under the clefts of the crags?
6 “Among the [e](K)smooth stones of the [f]ravine
Is your portion, [g]they are your lot;
Even to them you have (L)poured out a drink offering,
You have made a grain offering.
Shall I [h](M)relent concerning these things?
7 “Upon a (N)high and lofty mountain
You have (O)made your bed.
You also went up there to offer sacrifice.
8 “Behind the door and the doorpost
You have set up your sign;
Indeed, far removed from Me, you have (P)uncovered yourself,
And have gone up and made your bed wide.
And you have made an agreement for yourself with them,
You have loved their [i]bed,
You have looked on their [j]manhood.
9 “You have journeyed to the king with oil
And increased your perfumes;
You have (Q)sent your envoys a great distance
And made them go down to [k]Sheol.
10 “You were tired out by the length of your road,
Yet you did not say, ‘(R)It is hopeless.’
You found [l]renewed strength,
Therefore you did not [m]faint.
11 “Of (S)whom were you worried and fearful
When you lied, and did (T)not remember Me
[n]Nor (U)give Me a thought?
Was I not silent even for a long time
So you do not fear Me?
12 “I will (V)declare your righteousness and your (W)deeds,
But they will not profit you.
13 “When you cry out, (X)let your collection of idols deliver you.
But the wind will carry all of them up,
And a breath will take them away.
But he who (Y)takes refuge in Me will (Z)inherit the land
And will (AA)possess My holy mountain.”
14 And it will be said,
“(AB)Build up, build up, prepare the way,
Remove every obstacle out of the way of My people.”
15 For thus says the (AC)high and exalted One
Who [o](AD)lives forever, whose name is Holy,
“I (AE)dwell on a high and holy place,
And also with the (AF)contrite and lowly of spirit
In order to (AG)revive the spirit of the lowly
And to revive the heart of the contrite.
16 “For I will (AH)not contend forever,
(AI)Nor will I always be angry;
For the spirit would grow faint before Me,
And the (AJ)breath of those whom I have made.
17 “Because of the iniquity of his (AK)unjust gain I was angry and struck him;
I hid My face and was angry,
And he went on (AL)turning away, in the way of his heart.
18 “I have seen his ways, but I will (AM)heal him;
I will (AN)lead him and (AO)restore comfort to him and to his mourners,
19 Creating the [p](AP)praise of the lips.
(AQ)Peace, peace to him who is (AR)far and to him who is near,”
Says the Lord, “and I will heal him.”
20 But the (AS)wicked are like the tossing sea,
For it cannot be quiet,
And its waters toss up refuse and mud.
21 “(AT)There is no peace,” says (AU)my God, “for the wicked.”
The Sermon on the Mount; The Beatitudes
5 (A)When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on (B)the [a]mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. 2 (C)He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,
3 “[b](D)Blessed are the [c]poor in spirit, for (E)theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 “Blessed are (F)those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 “Blessed are (G)the [d]gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 “Blessed are (H)those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
7 “Blessed are (I)the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
8 “Blessed are (J)the pure in heart, for (K)they shall see God.
9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for (L)they shall be called sons of God.
10 “Blessed are those who have been (M)persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for (N)theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people (O)insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for (P)in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Disciples and the World
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but (Q)if the salt has become tasteless, how [e]can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.
14 “You are (R)the light of the world. A city set on a [f]hill cannot be hidden; 15 (S)nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a [g]basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may (T)see your good works, and (U)glorify your Father who is in heaven.
17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the (V)Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18 For truly I say to you, (W)until heaven and earth pass away, not [h]the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19 Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches [i]others to do the same, shall be called least (X)in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever [j]keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 “For I say to you that unless your (Y)righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Personal Relationships
21 “(Z)You have heard that [k]the ancients were told, ‘(AA)You shall not commit murder’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be [l]liable to (AB)the court.’ 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be [m]guilty before (AC)the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘[n]You good-for-nothing,’ shall be [o]guilty before [p](AD)the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be [q]guilty enough to go into the [r](AE)fiery hell. 23 Therefore if you are (AF)presenting your [s]offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your [t]offering there before the altar and go; first be (AG)reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your [u]offering. 25 (AH)Make friends quickly with your opponent at law while you are with him on the way, so that your opponent may not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I say to you, (AI)you will not come out of there until you have paid up the last [v]cent.
27 “(AJ)You have heard that it was said, ‘(AK)You shall not commit adultery’; 28 but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman (AL)with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 (AM)If your right eye makes you [w]stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you [x]to lose one of the parts of your body, [y]than for your whole body to be thrown into [z](AN)hell. 30 (AO)If your right hand makes you [aa]stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you [ab]to lose one of the parts of your body, [ac]than for your whole body to go into [ad](AP)hell.
31 “It was said, ‘(AQ)Whoever sends his wife away, let him give her a certificate of divorce’; 32 (AR)but I say to you that everyone who [ae]divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a [af]divorced woman commits adultery.
33 “Again, (AS)you have heard that [ag]the ancients were told, ‘[ah](AT)You shall not [ai]make false vows, but shall fulfill your [aj]vows to the Lord.’ 34 But I say to you, (AU)make no oath at all, either by heaven, for it is (AV)the throne of God, 35 or by the earth, for it is the (AW)footstool of His feet, or [ak]by Jerusalem, for it is (AX)the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you make an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is [al]of (AY)evil.
38 “(AZ)You have heard that it was said, ‘(BA)An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but (BB)whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40 If anyone wants to sue you and take your [am]shirt, let him have your [an]coat also. 41 Whoever [ao]forces you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 (BC)Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.
43 “(BD)You have heard that it was said, ‘(BE)You shall love your neighbor (BF)and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, (BG)love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may [ap]be (BH)sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For (BI)if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 Therefore [aq](BJ)you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
