Book of Common Prayer
Yahweh Loves the Gates of Zion
Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm. A Song.
87 His (A)foundation is in the holy mountains.
2 Yahweh (B)loves the gates of Zion
More than all the dwelling places of Jacob.
3 (C)Glorious things are spoken of you,
O (D)city of God. [a]Selah.
4 “I shall mention [b](E)Rahab and Babylon among those who know Me;
Behold, Philistia and (F)Tyre with [c](G)Ethiopia:
‘This one was born there.’”
5 But of Zion it shall be said, “This one and that one were born in her”;
And the Most High Himself will (H)establish her.
6 Yahweh will count when He (I)registers the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah.
7 And (J)singers, just like the (K)dancers, will all say,
“All my (L)springs are in you.”
BOOK 4
From Everlasting to Everlasting, You Are God
A Prayer of [a]Moses, the man of God.
90 Lord, You have been our [b](A)dwelling place from generation to generation.
2 Before (B)the mountains were born
[c]Or You (C)brought forth the earth and the world,
Even (D)from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
3 You (E)turn man back into dust
And say, “Return, O sons of men.”
4 For (F)a thousand years in Your sight
Are like (G)yesterday when it passes by,
[d]Or as a (H)watch in the night.
5 You (I)have [e]swept them away like a flood, they [f](J)fall asleep;
In the morning they are like (K)grass which [g]sprouts anew.
6 In the morning it (L)blossoms and [h]sprouts anew;
Toward evening it (M)withers away and (N)dries up.
7 For we have been (O)consumed by Your anger
And by Your wrath we have been [i]dismayed.
8 You have (P)set our iniquities before You,
Our (Q)secret sins in the light of Your presence.
9 For (R)all our days have declined in Your fury;
We have finished our years like a [j]sigh.
10 As for the days of our [k]life, [l]they contain seventy years,
Or if due to might, (S)eighty years,
Yet their pride is but (T)labor and wickedness;
For soon it is gone and we (U)fly away.
11 Who knows the (V)power of Your anger
And Your fury, according to the (W)fear [m]that is due You?
12 [n]So (X)teach us to number our days,
That we may [o](Y)present to You a heart of wisdom.
13 (Z)Return, O Yahweh; (AA)how long will it be?
And [p]be (AB)sorry for Your slaves.
14 O (AC)satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness,
That we may (AD)sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 (AE)Make us glad [q]according to the days You have afflicted us,
And the (AF)years we have seen [r]evil.
16 Let Your (AG)work appear to Your slaves
And Your (AH)majesty [s]to their sons.
17 Let the (AI)favor of the Lord our God be upon us;
And (AJ)establish for us the work of our hands;
Establish the work of our hands.
His Lovingkindness Endures Forever
136 (A)Give thanks to Yahweh, for (B)He is good,
For (C)His lovingkindness endures forever.
2 Give thanks to the (D)God of gods,
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
3 Give thanks to the (E)Lord of lords,
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
4 To Him who (F)alone does great [a]wonders,
For His lovingkindness endures forever;
5 To Him who (G)made the heavens (H)with [b]skill,
For His lovingkindness endures forever;
6 To Him who (I)spread out the earth above the waters,
For His lovingkindness endures forever;
7 To Him who (J)made the great lights,
For His lovingkindness endures forever:
8 The (K)sun to rule [c]by day,
For His lovingkindness endures forever,
9 The (L)moon and stars to rule [d]by night,
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
10 To Him who (M)struck [e]the Egyptians through their firstborn,
For His lovingkindness endures forever,
11 Then (N)brought Israel out from their midst,
For His lovingkindness endures forever,
12 With a (O)strong hand and an (P)outstretched arm,
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
13 To Him who (Q)divided the [f]Red Sea in two,
For His lovingkindness endures forever,
14 And (R)made Israel pass through the midst of it,
For His lovingkindness endures forever,
15 But (S)He [g]overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the [h]Red Sea,
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
16 To Him who (T)led His people through the wilderness,
For His lovingkindness endures forever;
17 To Him who (U)struck great kings,
For His lovingkindness endures forever,
18 And (V)killed [i]mighty kings,
For His lovingkindness endures forever:
19 (W)Sihon, king of the Amorites,
For His lovingkindness endures forever,
20 And (X)Og, king of Bashan,
For His lovingkindness endures forever,
21 And (Y)gave their land as an inheritance,
For His lovingkindness endures forever,
22 Even an inheritance to Israel His (Z)servant,
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
23 Who (AA)remembered us in our low estate,
For His lovingkindness endures forever,
24 And has (AB)snatched us from our adversaries,
For His lovingkindness endures forever;
25 Who (AC)gives food to all flesh,
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
26 Give thanks to the (AD)God of heaven,
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
10 I will (A)rejoice greatly in Yahweh;
My soul will rejoice in (B)my God,
For He has (C)clothed me with garments of salvation,
He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with a headdress,
And (D)as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
11 For as the (E)earth brings forth its branches,
And as a garden causes the things sown in it to branch out,
So Lord Yahweh will (F)cause (G)righteousness and praise
To branch out before all the nations.
Zion’s Glory and New Name
62 For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,
And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep quiet,
Until her (H)righteousness goes forth like brightness,
And her (I)salvation like a torch that is burning.
2 The (J)nations will see your righteousness,
And all kings your glory;
And you will be called by a new (K)name
Which the mouth of Yahweh will designate.
3 You will also be a (L)crown of glory in the hand of Yahweh,
And a turban of royalty in the hand of your God.
4 It will no longer be said to you, “[a](M)Forsaken,”
Nor to your land will it any longer be said, “[b]Desolate”;
But you will be called, “[c]My delight is in her,”
And your land, “[d](N)Married”;
For (O)Yahweh takes pleasure in you,
And to Him your land will be married.
5 For as a young man marries a virgin,
So your sons will marry you;
And as the [e]bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
So your (P)God will rejoice over you.
Preach the Word
4 (A)I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to (B)judge the living and the dead, and by His (C)appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach (D)the word; be ready in season and out of season; (E)reprove, rebuke, exhort, with [a]great (F)patience and teaching. 3 For (G)the time will come when they will not endure (H)sound doctrine, but wanting to have [b]their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and (I)will turn away their ears from the truth and (J)will turn aside to myths.
5 But you, (K)be sober in all things, (L)endure hardship, do the work of an (M)evangelist, fulfill your (N)ministry.
6 For I am already being (O)poured out as a drink offering, and the time of (P)my departure has come. 7 (Q)I have fought the good fight, I have finished (R)the course, I have kept (S)the faith. 8 In the future there (T)is laid up for me (U)the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on (V)that day, and not only to me, but also to (W)all who have loved His (X)appearing.
Bartimaeus Regains His Sight
46 (A)Then they *came to Jericho. And (B)as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the road. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus the (C)Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, (D)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 And many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, “(E)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him here.” So they *called the blind man, saying to him, “(F)Take courage, get up! He is calling for you.” 50 And throwing off his outer garment, he jumped up and came to Jesus. 51 And Jesus answered him and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And the blind man said to Him, “[a](G)Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!” 52 And Jesus said to him, “Go; (H)your faith has [b]saved you.” Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road.
