Book of Common Prayer
Remember Me, O Yahweh
106 [a]Praise Yah!
Oh (A)give thanks to Yahweh, for He (B)is good;
For (C)His lovingkindness endures forever.
2 Who can speak of the (D)mighty deeds of Yahweh,
Or can make all His praise to be heard?
3 How blessed are those who keep [b]justice,
[c]And he who (E)does righteousness at all times!
4 Remember me, O Yahweh, in Your (F)favor [d]toward Your people;
Visit me with Your salvation,
5 That I may see the (G)goodness of Your chosen ones,
That I may (H)rejoice in the gladness of Your nation,
That I may (I)boast with Your [e]inheritance.
6 (J)We have sinned (K)with our fathers,
We have committed iniquity, we have acted wickedly.
7 Our fathers in Egypt did not consider Your wondrous deeds;
They (L)did not remember Your abundant lovingkindnesses,
But they (M)rebelled by the sea, at the [f]Red Sea.
8 Yet He saved them (N)for the sake of His name,
That He might (O)make His might known.
9 Thus He (P)rebuked the [g]Red Sea and it (Q)dried up,
And He (R)led them through the deeps, as through the wilderness.
10 So He (S)saved them from the [h]hand of the one who hated them,
And (T)redeemed them from the [i]hand of the enemy.
11 (U)The waters covered their adversaries;
Not one of them was left.
12 Then they (V)believed His words;
They (W)sang His praise.
13 They quickly (X)forgot His works;
They (Y)did not wait for His counsel,
14 But (Z)craved intensely in the wilderness,
And (AA)put God to the test in the wasteland.
15 So He (AB)gave them their request,
But (AC)sent a [j]wasting disease against their lives.
16 Then they became (AD)envious of Moses in the camp,
And of Aaron, the holy one of Yahweh,
17 The (AE)earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
And covered up the [k]company of Abiram.
18 And a (AF)fire burned up in their company;
The flame consumed the wicked.
19 They (AG)made a calf in Horeb
And worshiped a molten image.
20 Thus they (AH)exchanged their glory
For the image of an ox that eats grass.
21 They (AI)forgot God their Savior,
Who had done (AJ)great things in Egypt,
22 (AK)Wondrous deeds in the land of Ham
And awesome things by the [l]Red Sea.
23 Therefore (AL)He said that He would destroy them,
Had not (AM)Moses His chosen one stood in the breach before Him,
To turn away His wrath from [m]eradicating them.
24 Then they (AN)despised the (AO)pleasant land;
They (AP)did not believe in His word,
25 But (AQ)grumbled in their tents;
They did not listen to the voice of Yahweh.
26 So He [n](AR)swore to them
To make them fall in the wilderness,
27 And to (AS)make their seed fall among the nations
And to (AT)scatter them in the lands.
28 They then (AU)joined themselves to [o]Baal-peor,
And ate (AV)sacrifices offered to the dead.
29 Thus they (AW)provoked Him to anger with their actions,
And the plague broke out among them.
30 Then Phinehas (AX)stood up and interceded,
And so the (AY)plague was checked.
31 And it was (AZ)counted to him for righteousness,
From generation to generation forever.
32 They also (BA)provoked Him to wrath at the waters of [p]Meribah,
So that it (BB)went badly with Moses on their account;
33 Because they (BC)were rebellious against [q]His Spirit,
He spoke rashly with his lips.
34 They (BD)did not destroy the peoples,
As (BE)Yahweh commanded them,
35 But (BF)they mingled with the nations
And learned their works,
36 And (BG)served their idols,
(BH)Which became a snare to them.
37 They (BI)sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the (BJ)demons,
38 And they shed (BK)innocent blood,
The blood of their (BL)sons and their daughters,
Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan;
And the land was (BM)polluted with the blood.
39 Thus they became (BN)unclean in their works,
And (BO)played the harlot in their actions.
40 So the (BP)anger of Yahweh was kindled against His people
And He (BQ)abhorred His [r](BR)inheritance.
41 Then (BS)He gave them into the hand of the [s]nations,
And those who hated them ruled over them.
42 Their enemies (BT)oppressed them,
And they were subdued under their hand.
43 Many times He would (BU)deliver them;
But they were rebellious in their (BV)counsel,
And so they (BW)sank down in their iniquity.
Yahweh Will Redeem Judah and Israel
10 Ask (A)rain from Yahweh at the time of the [a]late rain—
Yahweh who (B)makes the [b]storm clouds;
And He will give them (C)showers of rain, the plant in the field to each man.
2 For the (D)teraphim speak wickedness,
And the (E)diviners behold [c]false visions
And speak (F)worthless dreams;
They comfort in vain.
Therefore the people journey like (G)sheep;
They are afflicted because there is no shepherd.
3 “My (H)anger burns against the shepherds,
And I will visit punishment upon the [d]male goats;
For Yahweh of hosts has (I)visited His flock, the house of Judah,
And will make them like His splendid horse in battle.
4 From [e]them will come the (J)cornerstone,
From [f]them the tent peg,
From [g]them the bow of [h](K)battle,
From [i]them every good [j]taskmaster, all of them together.
5 And they will be as mighty men,
(L)Treading down the enemy in the mire of the streets in battle;
And they will battle, for Yahweh will be with them;
And the (M)riders on horses will be put to shame.
6 I will (N)make the house of Judah mighty,
And I will (O)save the house of Joseph,
And I will [k](P)cause them to return,
Because I have had (Q)compassion on them;
And they will be as though I had (R)not rejected them,
For I am Yahweh their God, and I will (S)answer them.
7 And Ephraim will be like a mighty man,
And their heart will be glad as if from wine;
Indeed, their (T)children will see it and be glad;
[l]Their heart will rejoice in Yahweh.
8 I will (U)whistle for them to gather them together,
For I have redeemed them;
And they will be as (V)numerous as they (W)were [m]before.
9 And I will sow them among the peoples,
And they will (X)remember Me in far countries,
And they with their children will live and turn back.
10 Then I will cause them to (Y)return from the land of Egypt
And gather them from Assyria;
And I will bring them into the land of (Z)Gilead and Lebanon
[n]Until (AA)no room can be found for them.
11 And [o]they will pass through the (AB)sea of distress,
And He will strike the waves in the sea,
So that all the depths of the (AC)Nile will dry up;
And the pride of (AD)Assyria will be brought down,
And the scepter of (AE)Egypt will depart.
12 And I will (AF)make them mighty in Yahweh,
And in His name (AG)they will walk,” declares Yahweh.
Bear One Another’s Burdens
6 (A)Brothers, even if [a]anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are (B)spiritual, (C)restore such a one (D)in a spirit of gentleness, each of you looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. 2 (E)Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill (F)the law of Christ. 3 For (G)if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But each one must (H)examine his own work, and then he will have reason for (I)boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another. 5 For (J)each one will bear his own load.
6 (K)And the one who is instructed in (L)the word is to share in all good things with the one who instructs him. 7 (M)Do not be deceived, (N)God is not mocked, for (O)whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. 8 (P)For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap (Q)corruption, but (R)the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 (S)And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we (T)do not grow weary. 10 So then, [b](U)while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the (V)household of (W)the faith.
15 (A)And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they were rebuking them. 16 But Jesus called for them, saying, “Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Truly I say to you, (B)whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”
The Rich Young Ruler
18 (C)And a ruler questioned Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. 20 You know the commandments, ‘(D)Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.’” 21 And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.” 22 And when Jesus heard this, He said to him, “One thing you still lack: (E)sell all that you possess and distribute it to the poor, and you shall have (F)treasure in heaven. And come, follow Me.” 23 But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. 24 And Jesus looked at him and said, “(G)How hard it is for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God! 25 For (H)it is easier for a camel to [a]go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 And those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?” 27 But He said, “(I)The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.”
28 And Peter said, “Behold, (J)we have left all that is our own and followed You.” 29 And He said to them, “Truly I say to you, (K)there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who will not receive many times more at this time and in (L)the age to come, eternal life.”
