83 Do not keep silent, O God. Do not be still, and do not cease, O God.
2 For lo, Your enemies murmur and those who hate You have lifted up the head.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people and have consulted against Your treasured ones.
4 They have said, “Come and let us cut them off from being a nation. And let the name of Israel be in remembrance no more.”
5 For they have consulted together in heart and have made a league against You:
6 the tabernacles of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites,
7 Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre.
8 Assyria has also joined with them. They have been an arm to the children of Lot. Selah.
9 Do to them as to the Midianites, as to Sisera and as to Jabin at the river of Kishon.
10 They perished at En Dor and were dung for the Earth.
11 Make them—even their princes like Oreb and like Zeeb (indeed, all their princes like Zebah and like Zalmunna
12 who have said, “Let us take for our possession the habitations of God)—
13 O, my God, make them like a wheel and as the stubble before the wind.
14 As the fire burns the forest, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire,
15 so persecute them with Your tempest and make them afraid with Your storm.
16 Fill their faces with shame, so that they may seek Your Name, O LORD.
17 Let them be confounded and troubled forever. Indeed, let them be put to shame and perish,
18 so that they may know that You, Who are called JEHOVAH, are alone, the Most High over all the Earth. To him who excels upon Gittith: A Psalm committed to the sons of Korah
23 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me to rest in green pasture and leads me by the still waters.
3 He restores my soul and leads me in the paths of righteousness, for His Name’s sake.
4 Indeed, though I should walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the sight of my adversaries. You anoint my head with oil; and my cup runs over.
6 Doubtless, kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I shall remain in the House of the LORD forever. A Psalm of David.
27 The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked—even my enemies—and my foes came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army encamped against me, my heart shall not be afraid. Though war is raised against me, I will trust in this.
4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that I will require: That I may dwell in the House of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD and to visit His Temple.
5 For in the time of trouble, He shall hide me in His Tabernacle. In the secret place of His pavilion, He shall hide me and set me up upon a rock.
6 And now, He shall lift up my head above my enemies all around me. Therefore, I will offer sacrifices of joy in His Tabernacle. I will sing and praise the LORD.
7 Hear my voice, O LORD, when I cry. Have mercy, also, upon me and hear me.
8 When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart answered You, “O LORD, I will seek Your face.”
9 Do not hide, therefore, Your face from me, nor cast Your servant away in displeasure. You have been my succor; do not leave me or forsake me, O God of my salvation.
10 Though my father and my mother should forsake me, yet the LORD will gather me up.
11 Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me in a right path, because of my enemies.
12 Do not give me to the lust of my adversaries. For there are false witnesses risen up against me, and such as speak cruelly.
13 I should have fainted, except I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Hope in the LORD. Be strong, and He shall comfort Your heart; and trust in the LORD. A Psalm of David.
85 LORD, You have been favorable to Your land. You have brought back the captives of Jacob.
2 You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people and covered all their sins. Selah.
3 You have withdrawn all Your anger and have turned back from the fierceness of Your wrath.
4 Turn us, O God of Our Salvation, and release Your anger toward us.
5 Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your wrath from one generation to another?
6 Will You not turn again and quicken us, so that Your people may rejoice in You?
7 Show us Your mercy, O LORD, and grant us Your salvation.
8 I will listen to what the LORD God will say. For He will speak peace to His people, and to His saints, so that they do not turn again to folly.
9 Surely, His salvation is near to those who fear Him, so that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Mercy and truth shall meet, righteousness and peace shall kiss.
11 Truth shall bud out of the Earth and righteousness shall look down from Heaven.
12 Indeed, the LORD shall give good things and our land shall give her increase.
13 Righteousness shall go before Him and shall set her steps in the way. A prayer of David
86 Bow down Your ear, O LORD, and hear me; for I am poor and needy.
2 Preserve my soul, for I am merciful. My God, save Your servant who trusts in You.
3 Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I cry upon You continually.
4 Rejoice the soul of Your servant. For to You, O LORD, do I lift up my soul.
5 For You, LORD, are good and merciful and of great kindness to all those who call upon You.
6 Give ear, LORD, to my prayer and pay attention to the voice of my supplication.
7 In the day of my trouble, I will call upon You; for You hear me.
8 Among the gods there is none like You, O LORD; and there are none like Your works.
9 All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O LORD, and shall glorify Your Name.
10 For You are great and do wondrous things. You are God, alone.
11 Teach me Your way, O LORD, and I will walk in Your truth. Knit my heart to You, so that I may fear Your Name.
12 I will praise You, O LORD my God, with all my heart. Indeed, I will glorify Your Name forever.
13 For great is Your mercy toward me; and You have delivered my soul from the lowest grave.
14 O God, the proud have risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought my soul and have not set You before them.
15 But You, O LORD, are a pitying God, and merciful, slow to anger and great in kindness and truth.
16 Turn to me and have mercy upon me. Give Your strength to Your servant and save the son of Your handmaid.
17 Show a sign of goodness toward me, so that those who hate me may see it and be ashamed; because You, O LORD, have helped me and comforted me. A Psalm, or song, committed to the sons of Korah
21 Do not fear, O land. Be glad and rejoice! For the LORD will do great things!
22 Do not be afraid, you beasts of the field. For the pastures of the wilderness are green. For the tree bears her fruit. The fig tree and the vine give their strength.
23 Be glad then, you children of Zion! And rejoice in the LORD your God! For He has given you the rain of righteousness. And He will cause the rain to come down for you, the first rain and the latter rain, in the first month.
24 And the barns shall be full of wheat. And the presses shall abound with wine and oil.
25 “And I will render you the years that the locust has eaten — the creeping locust and the consuming locust and the chewing locust — My great host which I sent among you.
26 “So you shall eat and be satisfied and praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt separately with you. And My people shall never be ashamed.
27 “You shall also know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and no other. And My people shall never be ashamed.
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings.
2 My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into diverse trials,
3 knowing that the trying of your faith brings forth patience.
4 And let patience have her perfect work, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, Who gives liberally to all and reproaches no one. And it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, and do not waver. For the one who wavers is like a wave of the sea, tossed by the wind and carried away.
7 Do not let that man think he shall receive anything from the Lord.
8 A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.
9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice, in that he is exalted;
10 likewise the one who is rich, in that he is made low. For as the flower of the grass, he shall vanish away.
11 For when the Sun rises with heat, the grass withers, its flower falls away and its good shape perishes. So, also, shall the rich man wither away in all his ways.
12 Blessed is the man who endures trials. For when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God.” For God cannot be tempted with evil, nor does He tempt anyone.
14 But everyone is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and is enticed.
15 Then, when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin. And sin, when it is completed, brings forth death.
15 Then all the tax collectors and sinners came to Him, to hear Him.
2 Therefore, the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, “He receives sinners, and eats with them.”
11 He said moreover, “A certain man had two sons.
12 “And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of the goods that falls to me.’ So, he divided his livelihood among them.
13 “So, not many days after, when the younger son had gathered everything together, he took his journey into a far country. And there he wasted his goods with riotous living.
14 “Now, when he had spent everything, there arose a great famine throughout that land. And he began to be in want.
15 “Then he went and kept company with a citizen of that country. And he sent him to his farm to feed swine.
16 “And he would have filled his belly with the husks that the swine ate, but no one gave him any.
17 “Then he came to himself and said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have enough bread, and I die for hunger?
18 ‘I will rise and go to my father, and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against Heaven, and before you,
19 “and am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants.”’
20 “So he arose and came to his father. And when he was still a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 “And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against Heaven, and before you, and am no more worthy to be called your son.’
22 “Then the father said to his servants, ‘Bring forth the best robe and put it on him! And put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet!
23 ‘And bring the fat calf and kill him! And let us eat and be merry!
24 ‘For this my son was dead, and is alive again! And he was lost, but he is found!’ And they began to be merry.
25 “Now the elder brother was in the field. And when he came and drew near to the house, he heard melody and dancing,
26 “And he called one of his servants and asked what those things meant.
27 “And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come. And your father has killed the fat calf because he has received him safe and sound.’
28 “Then he was angry, and would not go in. Therefore, his father came out and implored him.
29 “But he answered, and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have done you service and have always obeyed you! And yet you never gave me a kid that I might make merry with my friends!
30 ‘But when this, your son, had come - who had devoured your goods with harlots - you have killed the fat calf for his sake!’
31 “And he said to him, “Son, you are always with me. And all that I have is yours. It was fitting that we should celebrate and be glad. For this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. And he was lost, but he is found.”
