Version
Psalm 24

A Psalm of David.

¶ The earth is the LORD’s, and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein.

For he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.

¶ Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in the place of his holiness?

He that has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not taken my name in vain, nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his saving health.

This is the generation of those that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

¶ Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and lift yourselves up, ye everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; lift yourselves up, ye everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of the hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

Psalm 29

A Psalm of David.

¶ Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.

Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is upon many waters.

The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; yea, the LORD broke the cedars of Lebanon.

And He made them skip like calves; Lebanon and Sirion like the sons of the unicorns.

The voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire.

The voice of the LORD that shall shake the wilderness; the LORD shall shake the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the LORD shall make the hinds to calve and shall uncover the forests: and in his temple every one speaks to his glory.

10 The LORD sits upon the flood; yea, the LORD sat down as King for ever.

11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people in peace.

Psalm 8

To the Overcomer upon Gittith, A Psalm of David.

¶ O LORD our Lord, how great is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy praise above the heavens.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou might still the enemy and the avenger.

¶ When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou dost visit him?

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and beauty.

Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, and whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

O LORD our Lord, how great is thy name in all the earth!

Psalm 84

To the Overcomer upon Gittith, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.

¶ How amiable are thy habitations, O LORD of the hosts!

My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh sing to the living God.

Even the sparrow has found a house and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young upon thine altars, O LORD of the hosts, my King and my God.

Happy are those that dwell in thy house; they shall continually praise thee. Selah.

Happy is the man whose strength is in thee, in whose heart are thy ways,

who passing through the valley of Baca, shall make it a well; the rain also shall fill the pools.

They go forth in a great multitude; and in order, they shall see God in Zion.

¶ O LORD God of the hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.

Behold, O God our shield and look upon the face of thine anointed,

10 for a day in thy courts is better than a thousand outside of them. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield unto us; the LORD will give grace and glory; he will not withhold good from those that walk uprightly.

12 O LORD of the hosts, happy is the man that trusts in thee.

Joshua 24:1-15

24 ¶ And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and called for the elders of Israel and for their princes and for their judges and for their officers, and they presented themselves before God.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Long ago your fathers dwelt on the other side of the river, even Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nachor, and they served other gods.

And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the river and led him throughout all the land of Canaan and multiplied his generation and gave him Isaac.

And to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau, and to Esau I gave Mount Seir to possess it; but Jacob and his sons went down into Egypt.

I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did among them; and afterward I brought you out.

And I brought your fathers out of Egypt; and when ye came to the sea, the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red Sea.

And when they cried unto the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians and brought the sea upon them and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt; and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season.

And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, who dwelt on the other side of the Jordan, and they fought with you, but I delivered them into your hands that ye might possess their land, and I destroyed them from before you.

Then Balak, the son of Zippor, king of the Moabites, arose and warred against Israel and sent and called Balaam, the son of Beor, to curse you.

10 But I would not hearken unto Balaam; to the contrary, he blessed you repeatedly, and I delivered you out of his hand.

11 And ye passed the Jordan and came to Jericho; and the lords of Jericho fought against you: the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hands.

12 And I sent hornets before you, which drove them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites, but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.

13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour and cities which ye did not build, and ye dwell in them and eat of vineyards and oliveyards which ye did not plant.

14 Now therefore fear the LORD and serve him in perfection and in truth and put away from among you the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the river and in Egypt, and serve ye the LORD.

15 ¶ And if it seems evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the river or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Acts 28:23-31

23 ¶ And when they had appointed him a day, many came to him into his lodging, to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, procuring to persuade them of that concerning Jesus, the Christ, out of the law of Moses and out of the prophets, from morning until evening.

24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some did not believe.

25 And when they did not agree among themselves, they departed, after Paul had spoken this word, Well spoke the Holy Spirit by Isaiah the prophet unto our fathers,

26 saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see and not perceive;

27 for the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and should be converted and I should heal them.

28 Be it known, therefore, unto you that this saving health of God is sent unto the Gentiles and that they will hear it.

29 And when he had said these words, the Jews departed and had a great dispute among themselves.

30 ¶ And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house and received all that came in unto him,

31 preaching the kingdom of God and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all liberty, without hindrance.

Mark 2:23-28

23 And it came to pass that as he went through the planted fields again on the sabbath day, his disciples began, as they walked, to pluck the ears of grain.

24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?

25 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did when he had need and was hungry, he and those that were with him?

26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest and ate the showbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?

27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath;

28 therefore the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath.
