Psalm 38

A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.

¶ O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presses me sore.

There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.

For my iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.

I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.

For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease, and there is no soundness in my flesh.

I am feeble and sore broken; I roar by reason of the disquietness of my heart.

Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my groaning is not hid from thee.

10 My heart pants, my strength fails me; as for the light of my eyes, it also is gone from me.

11 My friends and my companions stand aloof from my sore, and my kinsmen stand afar off.

12 ¶ Those that seek after my life lay snares for me, and those that seek my hurt speak calamities and imagine deceits all the day long.

13 But I, as a deaf man heard not, and was as a dumb man that did not open his mouth.

14 Thus I was as a man that does not hear, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.

15 For thee, O LORD, do I wait; thou wilt respond, O Lord my God.

16 For I said, Let them not rejoice over me; let them not magnify themselves against me when my foot slips.

17 For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.

18 Therefore I will declare my iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

19 For my enemies are alive, and they are strong, and those that hate me wrongfully are multiplied;

20 rendering evil for good they are against me because I follow that which is good.

21 Forsake me not, O LORD; O my God, be not far from me.

22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

Psalm 119:25-48

DALETH.

25 ¶ My soul cleaves unto the dust; quicken me according to thy word.

26 ¶ I have declared my ways, and thou didst hear me; teach me thy statutes.

27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts; so I shall meditate of thy wondrous works.

28 ¶ My soul melts for heaviness; strengthen me according to thy word.

29 Remove from me the way of lying, and from thy law grant me mercy.

30 ¶ I have chosen the way of truth; I have laid thy judgments before me.

31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies; O LORD, put me not to shame.

32 I will run the way of thy commandments when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

HE.

33 ¶ Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes, and I shall keep it unto the end.

34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

35 ¶ Make me to go in the path of thy commandments, for therein do I delight.

36 Incline my heart unto thy testimonies and not to covetousness.

37 ¶ Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity, and cause me to live in thy way.

38 ¶ Confirm thy word unto thy slave, who is devoted to thy fear.

39 ¶ Turn away my reproach which I have feared, for thy judgments are good.

40 ¶ Behold, I have longed after thy precepts; cause me to live in thy righteousness.

VAU.

41 ¶ Let thy mercy come unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy spoken word.

42 And I shall answer him that reproaches me, by saying that I trust in thy word.

43 ¶ And take not at any time the word of truth out of my mouth; for I wait for thy judgment.

44 So shall I keep thy law continually from age to age.

45 ¶ And I will walk at liberty, for I sought thy commandments.

46 I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings and will not be ashamed.

47 And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.

48 I will lift up My hands unto thy commandments, which I have loved, and I will meditate in thy statutes.

Joshua 3:1-13

¶ And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim and came to the Jordan, he and all the sons of Israel and lodged there before they passed over.

And after three days, the officers went through the camp,

and they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place and go after it.

Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure; do not come near unto it that ye may know the way by which ye must go; for ye have not passed this way before now.

And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.

And Joshua spoke unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant and pass before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant and went before the people.

¶ And the LORD said unto Joshua, From this day I will begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel that they may know that as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.

Therefore, thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are entered into the brink of the water of the Jordan, ye shall stand still in the Jordan.

And Joshua said unto the sons of Israel, Draw near and hear the words of the LORD your God.

10 And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Hivite and the Perizzite and the Girgashite and the Amorite and the Jebusite.

11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passes the Jordan before you.

12 Now, therefore, take twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of each tribe a man.

13 And when the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off; for the waters that come down from above shall stand in a heap.

Romans 11:25-36

25 For I would not, brethren, that ye ignore this mystery, that ye not be arrogant regarding yourselves: that blindness in part has happened in Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles are come in.

26 And even if all Israel were saved, as it is written: There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall take away the ungodliness from Jacob;

27 and this shall be my covenant unto them when I shall take away their sins.

28 So that, as concerning the gospel, I have them for enemies for your sakes; but as touching the election of God, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.

29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

30 For as ye in time past have not obeyed God, yet have now obtained mercy through the occasion of their disobedience,

31 likewise these also have not believed now that through the mercy shown unto you they also may obtain mercy.

32 For God enclosed everyone in disobedience, that he might have mercy upon everyone.

33 ¶ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are his judgments and his ways past finding out!

34 For who has understood the intent of the Lord? or who has been his counsellor?

35 Or who has first given unto him, that it be recompensed unto him again?

36 For of him and by him and in him are all things. To him be the glory for the ages. Amen.

Matthew 25:31-46

31 ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory and all the holy angels with him, then he shall sit upon the throne of his glory,

32 and before him shall be gathered all nations; and he shall separate them one from another as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats,

33 and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto those on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

35 for I was hungry, and ye gave me food; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;

36 naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee? or thirsty and give thee drink?

38 When did we see thee a stranger and take thee in? or naked and clothe thee?

39 Or when did we see thee sick or in prison and come unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brothers, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then he shall also say unto those who shall be on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels;

42 for I was hungry, and ye gave me no food; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink;

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then they shall also answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then he shall answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of my brothers, ye did it not to me.

46 And they shall go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
