Psalm 119:145-176

Qoph

145 I called (A)with all my heart; answer me, O Yahweh!
I will (B)observe Your statutes.
146 I called to You; (C)save me
And I shall keep Your testimonies.
147 I [a](D)eagerly greet the dawn and cry for help;
I [b]wait for Your words.
148 My eyes [c]eagerly greet the (E)night watches,
That I may (F)muse on Your [d]word.
149 Hear my voice (G)according to Your lovingkindness;
(H)O Yahweh, revive me, according to Your judgments.
150 [e]Near are those who pursue wickedness;
They are far from Your law.
151 (I)Near are You, O Yahweh,
And all Your commandments are (J)truth.
152 Of old I have (K)known from Your testimonies
That You have founded them (L)forever.

Resh

153 (M)See my (N)affliction and rescue me,
For I do not (O)forget Your law.
154 (P)Plead my cause and (Q)redeem me;
Revive me according to Your [f]word.
155 Salvation is (R)far from the wicked,
For they (S)do not seek Your statutes.
156 (T)Many are Your [g]compassions, O Yahweh;
Revive me according to Your judgments.
157 Many are my (U)persecutors and my adversaries,
Yet I do not (V)turn aside from Your testimonies.
158 I see the (W)treacherous and (X)loathe them,
Those who do not keep Your [h]word.
159 See how I (Y)love Your precepts;
(Z)O Yahweh, revive me according to Your lovingkindness.
160 The (AA)sum of Your word is (AB)truth,
And every one of Your righteous judgments (AC)is everlasting.

Sin/Shin

161 (AD)Princes persecute me without cause,
But my heart (AE)is in dread of Your words.
162 I (AF)rejoice at Your [i]word,
As one who (AG)finds much spoil.
163 I (AH)hate and abhor lying,
But I (AI)love Your law.
164 Seven times a day I praise You,
Because of Your (AJ)righteous judgments.
165 Those who love Your law have (AK)much peace,
And [j](AL)nothing causes them to stumble.
166 I (AM)hope for Your salvation, O Yahweh,
And I do Your commandments.
167 My (AN)soul keeps Your testimonies,
And I (AO)love them exceedingly.
168 I (AP)keep Your precepts and Your testimonies,
For all my (AQ)ways are before You.

Tav

169 Let my (AR)cry of lamentation come near before You, O Yahweh;
(AS)Give me understanding (AT)according to Your word.
170 Let my (AU)supplication come before You;
(AV)Deliver me according to Your [k]word.
171 Let my (AW)lips pour forth praise,
For You (AX)teach me Your statutes.
172 Let my (AY)tongue answer with Your [l]word,
For all Your (AZ)commandments are righteous.
173 Let Your (BA)hand be [m]ready to help me,
For I have (BB)chosen Your precepts.
174 I (BC)long for Your salvation, O Yahweh,
And Your law is my (BD)delight.
175 Let my (BE)soul live that it may praise You,
And let Your judgments help me.
176 I have (BF)wandered off like a lost sheep; search for Your slave,
For I have (BG)not forgotten Your commandments.

Psalm 128-130

Blessed Is Everyone Who Fears Yahweh

A Song of Ascents.

128 (A)How blessed is everyone who fears Yahweh,
Who (B)walks in His ways.
When you shall (C)eat of the [a](D)fruit of the labor of your hands,
How blessed will you be and (E)how well will it be for you.
Your wife shall be like a (F)fruitful vine
In the innermost parts of your house,
Your children like (G)olive plants
All around your table.
Behold, for thus shall the man be blessed
Who fears Yahweh.

(H)May Yahweh bless you (I)from Zion,
That you may see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
Indeed, may you see your (J)children’s children.
(K)Peace be upon Israel!

Yahweh Has Cut the Cords of the Wicked

A Song of Ascents.

129 [b]Many times they have [c](L)assailed me from my (M)youth up,”
(N)Let Israel now say,
[d]Many times they have [e]assailed me from my youth up;
Yet they have (O)not prevailed against me.
The plowers plowed upon my back;
They lengthened their furrows.”
Yahweh (P)is righteous;
He has cut up the (Q)cords of the wicked.

Let all who (R)hate Zion
Be (S)put to shame and turned backward;
Let them be like (T)grass upon the rooftops,
Which dries up before it [f]grows up;
With which the reaper does not fill his [g]hand,
Nor the binder of sheaves the (U)fold of his garment;
And those who pass by will not say,
“The (V)blessing of Yahweh be upon you;
We bless you in the name of Yahweh.”

Yahweh Will Redeem Israel

A Song of Ascents.

130 Out of the (W)depths I called to You, O Yahweh.
O Lord, (X)hear my voice!
Let (Y)Your ears be attentive
To the (Z)voice of my supplications.
If You should keep iniquities, O Yah,
O Lord, who could (AA)stand?
But with You there is (AB)forgiveness,
That You may be (AC)feared.

I hope for Yahweh, my (AD)soul does hope,
And (AE)for His word do I wait.
My soul waits for the Lord
More than the watchmen (AF)for the morning,
The watchmen for the morning.
O Israel, (AG)wait for Yahweh;
For with Yahweh there is (AH)lovingkindness,
And with Him is (AI)abundant redemption.
And it is He who will (AJ)redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

2 Kings 22:14-23:3

Huldah Says Yahweh Is Bringing Evil

14 So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of [a](A)Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the (B)Second Quarter); and they spoke to her. 15 And she said to them, “Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘Say to the man who sent you to me, 16 thus says Yahweh, “Behold, I (C)am bringing evil on this place and on its inhabitants, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read. 17 (D)Because they have forsaken Me and have burned incense to other gods that they might provoke Me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore My wrath is set aflame against this place, and it shall not be quenched.”’ 18 But to (E)the king of Judah who sent you to inquire of Yahweh thus you shall say to him, ‘Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, “Regarding the words which you have heard, 19 (F)because your heart was soft and (G)you humbled yourself before Yahweh when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants that they should become (H)an object of horror, and a (I)curse, and you have (J)torn your clothes and wept before Me, I truly have heard you,” declares Yahweh. 20 “Therefore, behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and (K)you will be gathered to your grave in peace, so your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place.”’” So they brought back word to the king.

Josiah Reads the Book of the Covenant

23 (L)Then the king sent, and they gathered to him all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. And the king went up to the house of Yahweh and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests and the prophets and all the people, both small and great; and (M)he read in their hearing all the words of the book of the covenant (N)which was found in the house of Yahweh. (O)Then the king stood by the pillar and cut a covenant before Yahweh, (P)to walk after Yahweh, and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to establish the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people [b]entered into the covenant.

1 Corinthians 11:23-34

23 For (A)I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that (B)the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was being betrayed took bread, 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same way He took (C)the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the (D)new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord (E)until He comes.

27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be (F)guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. 28 But a man must (G)test himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. 30 For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number [a](H)sleep. 31 But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are (I)disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with (J)the world.

33 So then, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. 34 If anyone is (K)hungry, let him eat (L)at home, so that you will not come together for judgment. The remaining matters I will (M)direct (N)when I come.

Matthew 9:9-17

Matthew and Sinners Called

(A)And as Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called (B)Matthew, sitting in the tax office; and He *said to him, (C)Follow Me!” And he stood up and followed Him.

10 [a]Then it happened that as [b]Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and [c]sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “(D)Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when Jesus heard this, He said, It is not (E)those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn [d](F)what this means: ‘(G)I desire [e]compassion, [f]and not sacrifice,’ for (H)I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

A Question About Fasting

14 Then the disciples of John *came to Him, [g]asking, “Why do we and (I)the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?” 15 And Jesus said to them, “Can the [h]attendants of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. 16 But no one puts [i]a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for [j]the patch pulls away from the garment, and a worse tear results. 17 Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.”
