Psalm 146-147

146 Praise the LORD, O my soul!

I will praise the LORD during my life. As long as I have any being, I will sing to my God.

Do not put your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, for there is no help in him.

His breath departs. He returns to his earth. Then, his thoughts perish.

Blessed is he who has the God of Jacob for his help; whose hope is in the LORD his God,

Who made Heaven and Earth, the sea, and all that therein is. Who keeps his fidelity forever.

Who executes justice for the oppressed, Who gives bread to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners.

The LORD gives sight to the blind. The LORD raises up the crooked. The LORD loves the righteous.

The LORD keeps the strangers. He relieves the fatherless and widow; but He overthrows the way of the wicked.

10 The LORD shall reign forever! O Zion, your God endures from generation to generation. Praise the LORD!

147 Praise the LORD, for it is good to sing to our God; for it is a pleasant thing and praise is comely.

The LORD builds up Jerusalem and gathers together the dispersed of Israel.

He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their sores.

He counts the number of the stars and calls them all by their names.

Great is our LORD, and great is his power. His wisdom is infinite.

The LORD relieves the meek and abases the wicked to the ground.

Sing to the LORD with praise! Sing upon the harp to our God,

Who covers the heavens with clouds and prepares rain for the Earth and makes the grass grow upon the mountains;

Who gives food to beasts and to the young ravens that cry.

10 He has no pleasure in the strength of a horse, nor does He delight in the legs of man.

11 The LORD delights in those who fear Him and expectantly await His mercy.

12 Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!

13 For He has made the bars of the gates strong and has blessed your children within you.

14 He sets peace on your borders and satisfies you with the flour of wheat.

15 He sends forth His Commandment upon Earth; and His Word runs very swiftly.

16 He gives snow like wool and scatters the hoary frost like ashes.

17 He casts forth His ice like morsels. Who can abide the cold thereof?

18 He sends His Word and melts them. He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow.

19 He shows His Word to Jacob, His statutes and His judgments to Israel.

20 He has not dealt so with every nation; nor have they known His judgments. Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD

Psalm 111-113

111 I will praise the LORD with my whole heart in the assembly and the congregation of the Just.

The works of the LORD are great and are sought out by all those who love them.

His work is beautiful and glorious; and His righteousness endures forever.

He has made His wonderful works to be held in remembrance. The LORD is merciful and full of compassion.

He has given a portion to those who fear Him. He will be ever-mindful of His Covenant.

He has shown the power of His works to His people, in giving to them the heritage of the heathen.

The works of His hands are truth and judgment. All His statutes are true.

They are established forever and ever and are done in truth and equity.

He sent redemption to His people. He has commanded His Covenant forever. Holy and fearful is His Name.

10 The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD. All those who observe them have good understanding. His praise endures forever. Praise the LORD

112 Blessed is the man who fears the LORD and delights greatly in His Commandments.

His seed shall be mighty upon Earth. The generation of the righteous shall be blessed.

Riches and treasures shall be in his house and his righteousness endures forever.

To the righteous arises light in darkness. He is merciful and full of compassion, and righteous.

A good man is merciful and lends. He will measure his affairs by judgment.

Surely, he shall never be moved. The righteous shall be held in everlasting remembrance.

He will not be afraid of evil tidings. His heart is fixed, believing in the LORD.

His heart is established. He will not fear, until he sees his desire upon his enemies.

He has distributed, given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever. His horn shall be exalted with glory.

10 The wicked shall see it and be angry. He shall gnash with his teeth and melt away. The desire of the wicked shall perish. Praise the LORD

113 Praise, O you servants of the LORD! Praise the Name of the LORD!

Blessed be the Name of the LORD from henceforth and forever!

The LORD’s Name is praised from the rising of the Sun to the going down of the same.

The LORD is high above all nations, His Glory above the heavens.

Who is like the LORD our God, Who has His dwelling on High;

Who abases Himself to behold things in the heavens and on the Earth?

He raises the needy out of the dust, lifts up the poor out of the dung,

so that He may set him with the princes, even with the princes of His people.

He makes the barren woman dwell with a family, a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD!

Amos 1:1-5

The words of Amos (who was among the herdsmen at Tekoa), which he saw upon Israel in the days of Uzziah, King of Judah; and in the days of Jeroboam (the son of Joash, King of Israel), two years before the earthquake.

And he said, “The LORD shall roar from Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem. And the dwelling places of the shepherds shall perish. And the top of Carmel shall wither.

“Thus says the LORD: ‘For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn to it. Because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron.

‘Therefore I will send a fire into the house of Hazael. And it shall devour the palaces of Ben-Hadad.

‘I will also break the bars of Damascus and cut off the inhabitant of Bikeath-Aven, and he who holds the scepter out of Beth Eden. And the people of Aram shall go into captivity to Kir,’ says the LORD.

Amos 1:13-2:8

13 “Thus says the LORD: ‘For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn to it. Because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border.

14 ‘Therefore I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah. And it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle; with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind.

15 ‘And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together,’ says the LORD." Against Moab, Judah, and Israel.

“Thus says the LORD: ‘For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn to it, because it burnt the bones of the king of Edom into lime.

‘Therefore I will send a fire upon Moab. And it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth. And Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of a trumpet.

‘And I will cut off the judge out of the midst thereof; and will slay all the princes thereof with him,’ says the LORD.

“Thus says the LORD: ‘For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn to it. Because they have cast away the Law of the LORD and have not kept His Commandments. And their lies caused them to err, after which their fathers have walked.

‘Therefore I will send a fire upon Judah. And it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.’

“Thus says the LORD: ‘For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn to it. Because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for shoes.

‘They gape over the head of the poor, in the dust of the Earth, and pervert the ways of the meek. And a man and his father will go in to a maid, to dishonor My Holy Name.

‘And they lie down by every altar, upon pledged clothes. And they drink the wine of the condemned in the House of their God.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

But of the times and seasons, brothers, you have no need for me to write to you.

For you yourselves know perfectly that the Day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night.

For when they shall say “Peace and safety”, then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as labor upon a woman with child. And they shall not escape.

But you, brothers, are not in darkness, so that that day shall come on you as a thief.

You are all children of light, and children of the Day. We are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Therefore let us not sleep as others do. But, let us watch and be sober.

For those who sleep, sleep in the night. And those who are drunk, are drunk in the night.

But let us who are of the Day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love and the hope of salvation for a helmet.

For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by means of our Lord Jesus Christ;

10 Who died for us so that - whether we wake or sleep - we would live together with Him.

11 Therefore, exhort one another. And edify one another, just as you are doing.

Luke 21:5-19

Now as some spoke of the Temple (how it was decorated with beautiful stones and consecrated things), He said,

“Are these the things that you look upon? The days will come when a stone shall not be left upon a stone; that it shall not be thrown down.”

Then they asked Him, saying, “Master, but when shall these things be? And what sign shall there be when these things shall happen?”

And He said, “Watch carefully, so that you are not deceived. For many will come in My Name, saying, ‘I am Christ,’ and ‘The time draws near.’ Therefore, do not follow them.

“And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be afraid. For these things must come first. But the end will not follow right away.”

10 Then He said to them, “Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

11 “And great earthquakes shall occur in diverse places. And hunger and pestilence and fearful things and great signs from Heaven shall happen.

12 “But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you and persecute you - delivering you up to the assemblies and into prisons - and bring you before kings and rulers, for My Name’s sake.

13 “And this shall result in a testimonial for you.

14 “Therefore, resolve in your hearts not to prepare what you shall answer beforehand.

15 “For I will give you a mouth, and wisdom, against which all your adversaries shall not be able to speak or resist.

16 “Indeed, you shall also be betrayed by your parents and by your brothers, and kinsmen, and friends. And they shall put you to death.

17 “And you shall be hated by all, for My Name’s sake.

18 “Yet, not one hair of your heads shall perish.

19 “By your patience, gain your souls.
