Psalm 120-127

120 I called to the LORD in my trouble and He heard me.

Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.

What shall be given to you, false tongue; or what shall be done to you:

the sharp arrows of a mighty man and the coals of a juniper.

Woe is me, that I remain in Meshech and dwell in the tents of Kedar!

For too long my soul has dwelt with him who hates peace.

I seek peace; and when I speak, they are bent to war. A song of degrees

121 I will lift up my eyes to the mountain, from where my help shall come.

My help comes from the LORD, Who has made Heaven and Earth.

He will not allow your foot to slip. He Who keeps you will not slumber.

Behold, He Who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD is your Keeper. The LORD is your shadow at your right hand.

The Sun shall not strike you by day, nor the Moon by night.

The LORD shall preserve you from all evil. He shall keep your soul.

The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in, from henceforth and forever. A song of degrees, or Psalm, of David

122 I rejoiced when they said to me, “We will go into the House of the LORD.”

Our feet shall stand in Your gates, O Jerusalem!

Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together in itself,

to which the tribes—even the Tribes of the LORD—go up (according to the testimony to Israel) to praise the Name of the LORD.

For there are thrones set for judgment, the thrones of the House of David.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Let those who love You prosper.

Peace be within Your walls and prosperity within Your palaces.

For my brothers’ and neighbors’ sakes, I will now wish you prosperity.

Because of the House of the LORD our God, I will seek your good. A song of degrees

123 I lift up my eyes to You Who dwell in the heavens.

Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maiden to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God until He has mercy on us.

Have mercy on us, O LORD! Have mercy on us; for we have suffered too much contempt.

Our soul is filled too full with the mocking of the wealthy and the contempt of the proud. A song of degrees, or Psalm, of David

124 If the LORD had not been on our side, (may Israel now say)

If the LORD had not been on our side when men rose up against us,

they would have swallowed us up quickly when their wrath was kindled against us.

Then, the waters had drowned us; the stream had gone over our soul:

Then, the swelling waters had gone over our soul.

Praise the LORD, Who has not given us as a prey to their teeth!

Our soul has escaped, even as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers. The snare is broken and we are delivered.

Our help is in the Name of the LORD, Who has made Heaven and Earth. A song of degrees

125 Those who trust in the LORD shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed but remains forever.

As the mountains are around Jerusalem, so the LORD is around His people from henceforth and forever.

For the rod of the wicked shall not rest on the lot of the righteous, lest the righteous put forth their hand to wickedness.

Do well, O LORD, to those who are good and true in their hearts.

But those who turn aside by their crooked ways, they shall be led by the LORD with the workers of iniquity. Peace upon Israel! A song of degrees, or Psalm, of David

126 When the LORD brought back the captives of Zion, we were like those who dream.

Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joy. Then they said among the heathen, “The LORD has done great things for them.”

The LORD has done great things for us! We rejoice!

O LORD, bring back our captives as the rivers in the south.

Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.

They went weeping and carried precious seed. They shall return with joy and bring their sheaves. A song of degrees, or Psalm, of Solomon

127 Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the LORD keeps the city, the keeper watches in vain.

It is in vain for you to rise early, to lie down late, and eat the bread of sorrow; but He will surely give rest to His beloved.

Behold, children are the inheritance of the LORD, the fruit of the womb His reward.

As the arrows in the hand of the strong man are the children of youth.

Blessed is the man who has his quiver full of them. They shall not be ashamed when they speak with enemies in the gate. A song of degrees

Nahum 1:1-13

The burden of Nineveh. The Book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.

God is jealous. And the LORD avenges. The LORD avenges, the LORD of anger. The LORD will take vengeance on His adversaries, and He reserves wrath for His enemies.

The LORD is slow to anger, but great in power, and will not surely acquit. The LORD has His way in the whirlwind, and in the storm. And the clouds are the dust of His feet.

He rebukes the sea and dries it. And He dries up all the rivers. Bashan is withered, and Carmel. And the flower of Lebanon is wilted.

The mountains tremble for Him, and the hills melt. And the Earth is burnt at His sight, yea the world and all who dwell in it.

Who can stand before His wrath? Or who can abide in the fierceness of His wrath? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken by Him.

The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. And He knows those who trust in Him.

But passing over as with a flood, He will utterly destroy its place. And darkness shall pursue His enemies.

What do you imagine against the LORD? He will make an utter destruction. Affliction shall not rise up a second time.

10 For like tangled thorns, and like drunkards in their drunkenness, they shall be devoured as fully dried stubble.

11 There comes one out of you who imagines evil against the LORD, a wicked counselor.

12 Thus says the LORD: “Though they are quiet, and also many, yet thus shall they be cut off when he shall pass. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.

13 “For now I will break his yoke from you and will burst your bonds asunder.

1 Peter 1:13-25

13 Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind. Be sober and trust completely in that grace which is brought to you by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

14 As obedient children, do not conform yourselves to the former lusts of your ignorance.

15 But as He Who has called you is holy, so you be holy, in all manner of conversation.

16 Because it is written, “Be holy. For I am holy.”

17 And if you call him ‘Father’ (Who judges according to the work of each, without respect of persons), pass the time of your dwelling here in fear,

18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things - like silver and gold from your ineffective lifestyle received by the traditions of the Fathers -

19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb undefiled and without spot.

20 He was ordained before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in the last times for your sakes,

21 You, through Him, believe in God Who raised Him from the dead and gave Him Glory, so that your faith and hope might be in God.

22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth (through the Spirit) toward brotherly love without hypocrisy, love one another fervently, with a pure heart;

23 being born anew—not of mortal seed, but of immortal—by the Word of God, Who lives and endures forever.

24 For “all flesh is as grass. And all the glory of man is as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls away.

25 “But the Word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the Word which is preached among you.

Matthew 19:13-22

13 Then little children were brought to Him, so that He could put hands on them and pray. And the disciples rebuked them.

14 But Jesus said, “Allow the little children! And do not forbid them to come to Me! For of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.”

15 And when He had put His hands on them, He departed from there.

16 And behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Master, what good thing shall I do, so that I may have eternal life?

17 And He said to him, “Why did you call me good? There is no one good, but One, even God. But if you wish to enter into Life, keep the Commandments.”

18 He said to Him, “Which?” And Jesus said, “These: ‘You shall not kill’. ‘You shall not commit adultery’. ‘You shall not steal’. ‘You shall not bear false witness’.

19 “‘Honor your father and mother’. And, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’.”

20 The young man said to Him, “I have observed all these things from my youth. “What do I still lack?”

21 Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go. Sell what you have and give it to the poor. And you shall have treasure in Heaven. And come and follow Me.”

22 And when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful. For he had great possessions.
