Book of Common Prayer
66 Rejoice in God, all the Earth!
2 Sing forth the Glory of His Name! Make His praise glorious!
3 Say to God, “How terrible are You in Your works! Through the greatness of Your power shall Your enemies be in subjection to You.
4 “All the world shall worship You and sing to You. Sing of Your Name!” Selah.
5 Come and behold the works of God. He is terrible in His doings toward the sons of men.
6 He has turned the sea into dry land. They passed through the river on foot. We rejoiced in Him there.
7 He rules the world with His power. His eyes behold the nations. The rebellious shall not exalt themselves. Selah.
8 Praise our God, you people, and make the voice of His praise heard.
9 He holds our souls in life and does not let our feet slip.
10 For You, O God, have tested us. You have refined us as silver is refined.
11 You have brought us into the net. You put pressure upon our loins.
12 You have caused men to ride over our heads. We went into fire and into water; but You brought us out into abundance.
13 I will go into Your House with burnt offerings and will pay You my vows
14 which my lips have promised; and my mouth has spoken in my affliction.
15 I will offer to You the burnt offerings of fat rams with incense. I will prepare bullocks and goats. Selah.
16 Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what He has done to my soul.
17 I called to Him with my mouth and He was exalted with my tongue.
18 If I regard wickedness in my heart, the LORD will not hear me.
19 But God has heard me and considered the voice of my prayer.
20 Praised God, Who has turned away neither my prayer nor His mercy. To him who excels on Neginoth: A psalm or song
67 God be merciful to us and bless us. Cause His face to shine among us (Selah),
2 so that they may know Your way upon Earth and Your saving health among all nations.
3 Let the people praise You, O God. Let all the people praise You.
4 Let the people be glad and rejoice; for You shall judge the people righteously and govern the nations upon the Earth. Selah.
5 Let the people praise You, O God. Let all the people praise You.
6 Then shall the Earth bring forth her increase; and God, even our God, shall bless us.
7 God shall bless us, and all the ends of the Earth shall fear Him. To him who excels: A psalm or song of David
19 The heavens declare the Glory of God, and the firmament shows the work of His Hands.
2 Day unto day utters the same, and night unto night teaches knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.
4 Their line has gone forth through all the earth; and their words into the ends of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the Sun,
5 which comes forth as a bridegroom out of his chamber, and rejoices like a mighty man to run his race.
6 His going out is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit is to the ends of the same, and nothing is hidden from the heat thereof.
7 The Law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of the LORD is sure and gives wisdom to the simple.
8 The Statutes of the LORD are right and rejoice the heart. The Commandment of the LORD is pure and gives light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean and endures forever. The judgments of the LORD are truth. They are righteous altogether,
10 and more to be desired than gold—yea, than much fine gold—sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them your servant is made circumspect, and in the keeping of them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his faults? Cleanse me from secret faults.
13 Keep your servant from presumptuous sins, also. Do not let them reign over me. So, shall I be upright and made clean from much wickedness.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD my strength, and my redeemer. To him who excels. A Psalm of David.
46 God is our hope and strength; help in troubles, ready to be found.
2 Therefore, we will not fear, though the Earth be moved and though the mountains fall into the midst of the sea.
3 The waters thereof rage and are troubled; the mountains shake at the surges of the same. Selah.
4 Still, there is a River whose stream shall make glad the City of God, the Sanctuary of the Tabernacles of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of it; therefore, it shall not be moved. God shall help it in the dawning.
6 When the nations raged and the kingdoms were moved, God thundered, and the Earth melted.
7 The LORD of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
8 Come and behold the works of the LORD, what desolations He has made on the Earth.
9 He makes wars cease, to the ends of the world. He breaks the bow and cuts the spear and burns the chariots with fire.
10 “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the heathen. I will be exalted on the Earth.”
11 The LORD of Hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. To him who excels: A Psalm committed to the sons of Korah.
17 In the twelfth year of Ahaz, king of Judah, Hoshea, the son of Elah, began to reign in Samaria over Israel (for nine years).
2 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel who were before him.
3 And Shalmaneser, king of Assyria, came up against him. And Hoshea became his servant and gave him presents.
4 And the king of Assyria found treason in Hoshea. For he had sent messengers to So, king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done yearly. Therefore, the king of Assyria shut him up and put him in prison.
5 Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land and went against Samaria and besieged it for three years.
6 In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria, Samaria took and carried Israel away to Assyria and put them in Halah and in Habor, by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
7 For when the children of Israel sinned against the LORD their God (Who had brought them out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt) and feared other gods,
8 and walked according to the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel, and after those of the kings of Israel which they had made,
9 and the children of Israel had secretly done things that were not upright before the LORD their God, and had built high places throughout all their cities, from the watchtower to the defensed city,
10 and had made themselves images and groves upon every high hill and under every green tree,
11 and burnt incense there in all the high places, as did the heathen, whom the LORD had taken away before them, and worked wicked things to anger the LORD,
12 and served idols (of which the LORD had said to them, “You shall do no such thing.”),
13 nevertheless, the LORD testified to Israel, and to Judah, by all the Prophets, and by all the Seers, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep My Commandments, and My Statutes, according to all the Law which I Commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants, the Prophets.”
14 Still, they would not obey, but hardened their necks (like the necks of their fathers, who did not believe in the LORD their God).
15 And they refused His Statutes and His Covenant that He made with their fathers, and His Testimonies with which He witnessed to them. And they followed vanity, and became empty, and followed the heathen who were all around them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them that they should not do like them.
16 Finally, they left all the Commandments of the LORD their God, and made themselves molten images (two calves), and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
17 And they made their sons and daughters pass through the fire, and used witchcraft and enchantments. Indeed, they sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to anger Him.
18 Therefore, the LORD was exceedingly angry with Israel, and put them out of His sight. No one was left, only the tribe of Judah.
36 There was also a certain woman in Joppa, a disciple named Tabitha (which means ‘Dorcas’). She was full of good works and alms which she did.
37 And it so happened in those days that she fell sick and died. And after they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.
38 Now since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, asking that he not delay in coming to them.
39 Then Peter arose and came with them. And when he had come, they brought him into the upper room, where all the weeping widows stood by him and showed him the coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.
40 But Peter put them all out; and kneeled down, and prayed, and turned to the body, and said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes. And when she saw Peter, she sat up.
41 Then he gave her his hand and lifted her up, and called the saints and widows, and presented her alive.
42 And it was known throughout all Joppa. And many believed in the Lord.
43 And it so happened that he stayed in Joppa many days with one Simon, a tanner.
5 Then it happened that as the people pressed upon Him to hear the Word of God, He stood by the lake of Gennesaret
2 and saw two ships stand by the lakeside. But the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets.
3 And He entered into one of the ships (which was Simon’s) and asked him to thrust off a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the ship.
4 Now when He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep. And let down your nets to make a catch.”
5 Then Simon answered, and said to Him, “Master, we have worked hard all night and have taken nothing. Nevertheless, at Your Word I will let down the net.”
6 And when they had done so, they enclosed a great multitude of fish, so that their net broke.
7 And they beckoned to their partners in the other ship to come and help them. Then they came and filled both the ships, so that they sank.
8 Now when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Lord, go from me. For I am a sinful man.”
9 For he was utterly astonished (and all who were with him) at the catch of fish which they took.
10 And so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were companions of Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not fear. From now on you shall catch men.”
11 And when they had brought the ships to land, they left all and followed Him.
