80 Hear, O You Shepherd of Israel, You Who leads Joseph like sheep. Show Your brightness, You Who sits between the Cherubims.
2 Stir up Your strength before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh and come to help us.
3 Turn us again, O God, and cause Your face to shine, so that we may be saved.
4 O LORD God of Hosts, how long will You be angry against the prayer of Your people?
5 You have fed them with the bread of tears and given them tears to drink with great measure.
6 You have made us a point of contention to our neighbors; and our enemies laugh at us among themselves.
7 Turn us again, O God of Hosts. Cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved.
8 You have brought a vine out of Egypt. You have cast out the heathen and planted it.
9 You made room for it, and caused it to take root, and it filled the land.
10 The mountains were covered with the shadow of it; and the boughs thereof were like the pleasant cedars.
11 She stretched out her branches to the sea, and her boughs to the river.
12 Why have You broken down her hedges, so that all those who pass by the way have plucked her?
13 The wild boar, out of the wood, has destroyed it; and the wild beasts of the field have eaten it up.
14 Return, we beg You, O God of Hosts! Look down from Heaven and behold, and visit this vine
15 and the vineyard that Your right hand has planted, and the young vine which You made strong for Yourself.
16 It is burnt with fire and cut down. They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.
17 Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, and upon the son of man whom You made strong for Your own self,
18 so we will not go back from You. Revive us, and we shall call upon Your Name.
19 Turn us again, O LORD God of Hosts! Cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved. To him who excels upon Gittith: A Psalm committed to Asaph
77 My voice came to God when I cried. My voice came to God and He heard me.
2 On the day of my trouble, I sought the LORD. My hand did not cease in the night. My soul refused comfort.
3 I thought upon God and was troubled. I prayed, and my spirit was full of anguish. Selah.
4 You keep my eyes awake. I was astonished and could not speak.
5 I considered the days of old, the years of ancient time.
6 I called to remembrance my song in the night. I communed with my own heart; and my spirit searched diligently.
7 Will the LORD be absent forever? And will He show no more favor?
8 Has His mercy ceased forever? Does His promise fail forevermore?
9 Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has He shut up His tender mercies in displeasure? Selah.
10 And I said, “This is my death.” Yet, I remembered the years of the right hand of the Most High.
11 I remembered the works of the LORD. Certainly, I remembered Your wonders of old.
12 I will also meditate on all Your works and talk of Your acts.
13 Your way, O God, is in the Sanctuary. Who is so great a God as our God!
14 You are the God Who does wonders. You have declared Your power among the people.
15 You have redeemed Your people with Your arm, even the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
16 The waters saw You, O God. The waters saw You and were afraid. Indeed, the depths trembled.
17 The clouds poured out water. The heavens gave a sound. Indeed, Your arrows went all over.
18 The voice of Your thunder was all round. The lightnings lightened the world; the earth trembled and shook.
19 Your way is in the sea, Your paths in the great waters; and Your footsteps are not known.
20 You led Your people like sheep, by the hand of Moses and Aaron. A Psalm to give instruction, committed to Asaph
79 O God, the heathen have come into Your inheritance. They have defiled Your Holy Temple and made Jerusalem heaps of stones.
2 The dead bodies of Your servants they have given to be food to birds of the heaven, and the flesh of Your saints to the beasts of the Earth.
3 They have shed their blood like waters, all around Jerusalem; and there was no one to bury them.
4 We are a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and derision to those around us.
5 LORD, how long will You be angry? Forever? Shall Your jealousy burn like fire?
6 Pour out Your wrath upon the heathen who have not known You, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon Your Name.
7 For they have devoured Jacob and made His dwelling place desolate.
8 Do not remember our former iniquities against us, but let Your tender mercies come quickly to meet us; for we are in great misery.
9 Help us, O God of Our Salvation, for the Glory of Your Name; and deliver us and be merciful to our sins for Your Name’s sake.
10 Why should the heathen say, “Where is their God?” Let them be known among the heathen in our sight by the vengeance of the blood of Your servants that is shed.
11 Let the sighing of the prisoners come before You. Preserve the children of death according to Your mighty arm
12 and render to our neighbors sevenfold into their bosom their reproach with which they have reproached You, O LORD.
13 So we, Your people, and sheep of Your pasture, shall praise You forever; and from generation to generation we will set forth Your praise. To him who excels on Shoshannim Eduth: A Psalm committed to Asaph
5 Now was there one Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Aram, a great man, and honorable in the sight of his lord, because by him the LORD had delivered the Aramites. He also was a mighty man and valiant, but a leper.
2 And the Aramites had gone out by bands and had taken a little maid from the land of Israel. And she served Naaman’s wife.
3 And she said to her mistress, “I wish my lord were with the Prophet that is in Samaria. He would soon deliver him of his leprosy.”
4 And he went in and told his lord, saying, “(Thus and thus) says the maid who is from the land of Israel.”
5 And the king of Aram said, “Go your way there. And I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” And he departed and took ten talents of silver with him, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of clothing,
6 and brought the letter to the king of Israel, which read to this effect, “Now when this letter has come to you, understand that I have sent you Naaman, my servant, so that you may heal him of his leprosy.”
7 And when the king of Israel had read the letter, he tore his clothes, and said, “Am I God, to kill and to give life that he sends to me, so that I could heal a man from his leprosy? Therefore, please consider and see how he seeks a quarrel against me.”
8 But when Elisha, the man of God, had heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, he sent to the king, saying, “Why have you torn your clothes? Let him come to me now, and he shall know that there is a Prophet in Israel.”
9 Then Naaman came with his horses, and with his chariots, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10 And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash yourself in Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall come back to you, and you shall be cleansed.”
11 But Naaman was angry and went away, and said, “Behold, I thought to myself, ‘He will surely come out and stand and call on the Name of the LORD his God and put his hand on the place and heal the leprosy.’
12 “Are not Abanah and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? May I not wash myself in them and be cleansed?” So, he turned and departed in displeasure.
13 But his servants came and spoke to him, and said, “Father, if the Prophet had commanded you a great thing, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean?’”
14 Then he went down and washed himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God. And his flesh came back, like the flesh of a little child. And he was clean.
15 And he turned back to the man of God (he and all his company), and came and stood before him, and said, “Behold now, I know that there is no God in all the world but in Israel. Now, therefore, please receive a reward from your servant.”
16 But he said, “As the LORD lives (before Whom I stand), I will not receive it.” And he tried to persuade him to take it. But he refused.
17 Moreover, Naaman said, “Shall there not be given two mules’ load of this earth to your servant? For from now on, your servant will offer neither burnt sacrifice nor offering to any other god except to the LORD.
18 “In this may the LORD be merciful to your servant: that when my master goes into the House of Rimmon, to worship there, and leans on my hand, and I bow myself in the House of Rimmon—when I do bow down in the House of Rimmon—that the LORD be merciful to your servant in this point.”
19 To whom he said, “Go in peace.” So, he departed from him, about half a day’s journey of ground.
8 Now you are full. Now you are made rich. You reign as kings without us. And I would that you did reign, so that we also might reign with you.
9 For I think that God has set us forth, the last Apostles, as men appointed to death. For we are made a spectacle to the world, and to the angels, and to man.
10 We are fools for Christ’s sake; and you, wise in Christ. We are weak, and you strong. You honorable, and we despised.
11 Unto this hour, we both hunger and thirst, and are naked and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place;
12 and labor, working with our own hands. We are reviled, and we bless. We are persecuted. We suffer it.
13 We are slandered, and we pray. We are made as the filth of the world, the scum of all things, unto this time.
14 I do not write these things to shame you. But as my beloved children, I admonish you.
15 For though you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet not many fathers. For in Christ Jesus I have begotten you, through the Gospel.
16 Therefore, I encourage you, be followers of me.
17 For this cause have I sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord; who shall put you in remembrance of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.
18 Now, some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.
19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and I will know, not the words of those who are puffed up, but the power.
20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
21 What is your will? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and in the spirit of meekness?
21 “You have heard that it was said to those of the old time, ‘You shall not murder’. For whoever murders shall be culpable of judgment.
22 “But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother unadvisedly, shall be culpable of judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca’, shall be worthy to be punished by the Council. And whoever shall say, ‘Fool’, shall be worthy to be punished with Hell fire.
23 “If, then, you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,
24 “leave your offering there before the altar and go your way. First, be reconciled to your brother and then come and offer your gift.
25 “Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge delivers you to the sergeant, and you are cast into prison.
26 “Truly I say to you, you shall not come out from there, till you have paid the last coin.
