50 1 Because the Church is always full of hypocrites, 8 which do imagine that God will be worshipped with outward ceremonies only without the heart: and especially the Jews were of this opinion, because of their figures and ceremonies of the Law, thinking that their sacrifices were sufficient. 21 Therefore the Prophet doth reprove this gross error, and pronounceth the Name of God to be blasphemed where holiness is set in ceremonies. 23 For he declareth the worship of God to be spiritual, whereof are two principal parts, invocation and thanksgiving.
A Psalm of [a]Asaph.
1 The God of gods, even the Lord hath spoken and called the [b]earth from the rising up of the Sun, unto the going down thereof.
2 Out of Zion, which is the [c]perfection of beauty, hath God shined.
3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: [d]a fire shall devour before him, and a mighty tempest shall be moved round about him.
4 He shall call the heaven above, and [e]the earth to judge his people.
5 Gather my [f]Saints together unto me, those that make a covenant with me with [g]sacrifice.
6 And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is Judge himself. Selah.
7 Hear, O my people and I will speak: hear, O Israel, and I will testify unto thee: for I am God, even thy God.
8 I will not [h]reprove thee for thy sacrifices, or thy burnt offerings, that have not been continually before me.
9 I will take no bullock out of thine house, nor goats out of thy folds.
10 [i]For all the beasts of the forest are mine, and the beasts on a thousand mountains.
11 I know all the fowls on the mountains, and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
12 If I be hungry, I will not tell thee: for the world is mine and all that therein is.
13 [j]Will I eat the flesh of bulls? or drink the blood of goats?
14 Offer unto God praise, and [k]pay thy vows unto the most High,
15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: so will I deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
16 But unto the wicked said God, [l]What hast thou to do to declare mine ordinances, that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth,
17 Seeing thou hatest [m]to be reformed, and hast cast my words behind thee?
18 For when thou seest a thief, [n]thou runnest with him, and thou art partaker with the adulterers.
19 Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and with thy tongue thou forgest deceit.
20 Thou [o]sittest, and speakest against thy brother, and slanderest thy mother’s son.
21 These things hast thou done, and I held my tongue: therefore thou thoughtest that I was like thee: but I will reprove thee, and [p]set them in order before thee.
22 Oh consider this ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none that can deliver you.
23 He that offereth [q]praise, shall glorify me: and to him that [r]disposeth his way aright, will I [s]show the salvation of God.
59 1 David being in great danger of Saul, who sent to slay him in his bed, prayeth unto God, 3 Declaring his innocency, and their fury, 5 Desiring God to destroy all those that sin of malicious wickedness. 11 Whom though he keep alive for a time to exercise his people, yet in the end he will consume them in his wrath, 13 That he may be known to be the God of Jacob to the end of the world. 16 For this he singeth praises to God assured of his mercies.

1 O my God, [b]deliver me from mine enemies; defend me from them that rise up against me.
2 Deliver me from the wicked doers, and save me from the bloody men.
3 For lo, they have laid wait for my soul; the mighty men are gathered against me, not for mine [c]offense, nor for my sin, O Lord.
4 They run and prepare themselves without a fault on my part: arise therefore to assist me, and behold.
5 Even thou, O Lord God of hosts, O God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen, and be not [d]merciful unto all that transgress maliciously. Selah.
6 They go to and fro in the evening: they bark like [e]dogs, and go about the city.
7 Behold, they [f]brag in their talk, and swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?
8 But thou, O Lord, shalt have them in derision, and thou shalt laugh at all the heathen.
9 [g]He is strong: but I will wait upon thee: for God is my defense.
10 My merciful God will [h]prevent me: God will let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
11 Slay them [i]not, lest my people forget it: but scatter them abroad by thy power, and put them down, O Lord, our shield,
12 For the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips: and let them be [j]taken in their pride, even for their perjury and lies, that they speak.
13 [k]Consume them in thy wrath: consume them that they be no more: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob, even unto the ends of the world. Selah.
14 And in the evening they [l]shall go to and fro, and bark like dogs, and go about the city.
15 They shall run here and there for meat, and surely they shall not be satisfied, though they tarry all night.
16 But I will sing of thy [m]power, and will praise thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble.
17 Unto thee, O my [n]Strength will I sing: for God is my defense, and my merciful God.
60 1 David being now king over Judah, and having had many victories, showeth by evident signs that God elected him King, assuring the people that God will prosper them, if they approve the same. 14 After, he prayeth unto God to finish that that he hath begun.

1 O God, thou hast cast us out, thou hast [r]scattered us, thou hast been angry, turn again unto us.
2 Thou hast made the land to tremble, and hast made it to [s]gape: heal the breaches thereof, for it is shaken.
3 Thou hast [t]showed thy people heavy things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of giddiness.
4 But now thou hast given [u]a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of thy truth. Selah.
5 That thy beloved may be delivered, help with thy right hand and hear me.
6 God hath spoken in his [v]holiness: therefore I will rejoice: I shall divide Shechem, and measure the valley of Succoth.
7 Gilead shall be mine, and Manasseh shall be mine: Ephraim also shall be the [w]strength of mine head: [x]Judah is my lawgiver.
8 Moab shall be my [y]washpot: over Edom will I cast out my shoe: [z]Philistia show thyself joyful for me.
9 Who will lead me into the [aa]strong city? who will bring me unto Edom?
10 Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off, and didst not go forth, O God, with our armies?
11 Give us help against trouble: for vain is the help of man.
12 Through God we shall do valiantly; for he shall tread down our enemies.
66 1 He provoketh all men to praise the Lord and to consider his works. 6 He setteth forth the power of God to affray the rebels. 10 And showeth how God hath delivered Israel from great bondage and afflictions. 13 He promiseth to give sacrifice, 16 And provoketh all men to hear what God hath done for him, and to praise his Name.

1 Rejoice in God, [a]all ye inhabitants of the earth.
2 Sing forth the glory of his Name: make his praise glorious.
3 Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies be [b]in subjection unto thee.
4 All the world shall worship thee, and sing unto thee, even sing of thy Name. Selah.
5 [c]Come and behold the works of God: he is terrible in his doings toward [d]the sons of men.
6 He hath turned the sea into dry land: they passed through the river on foot: there did we rejoice in him.
7 He ruleth the world with his power: his eyes behold the nations: the rebellious shall not [e]exalt themselves. Selah.
8 Praise our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard.
9 Which [f]holdeth our souls in life, and suffereth not our feet to slip.
10 For thou, O God, hast proved us, thou hast tried us as silver is tried.
11 Thou hast brought us unto the [g]snare, and laid a strait chain upon our loins.
12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads: we went into fire and into water, but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.
13 I will go into thine [h]House with burnt offerings, and will pay thee my vows,
14 Which my lips have promised, and my mouth hath spoken in mine affliction.
15 I will offer unto thee the burnt offerings of fat rams with incense: I will prepare bullocks and goats. Selah.
16 [i]Come and hearken, all ye that fear God, and I will tell you what he hath done to my soul.
17 I called unto him with my mouth, and he was exalted with my tongue.
18 [j]If I regard wickedness in mine heart, the Lord will not hear me.
19 But God hath heard me, and considered the voice of my prayer.
20 Praised be God, which hath not put back my prayer, nor his mercy from me.
67 1 A prayer of the Church to obtain the favor of God and to be lightened with his countenance. 2 To the end that his way and judgment may be known throughout the earth. 7 And finally is declared the kingdom of God, which should be universally erected at the coming of Christ.

1 God be merciful unto us, and bless us, and [k]cause his face to shine among us. (Selah.)
2 That [l]they may know thy way upon earth, and thy saving health among all nations.
3 Let the people praise thee, O God: let all the people praise thee.
4 [m]Let the people be glad and rejoice: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon the earth. Selah.
5 Let the people praise thee, O God: let all the people praise thee.
6 Then shall [n]the earth bring forth her increase, and God, even our God shall bless us.
7 God shall bless us, and all the ends of the earth [o]shall fear him.
3 ((A)Samuel was then dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah his own city: and Saul had [a]put away the sorcerers, and the Soothsayers out of the land.)
4 Then the Philistines assembled themselves, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul assembled all Israel, and they pitched in Gilboa.
5 And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart was sore astonied.
6 Therefore Saul asked counsel of the Lord, and the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by [b]Urim, nor yet by Prophets.
7 ¶ Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and ask of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman at En Dor that hath a familiar spirit.
8 Then Saul [c]changed himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, conjecture unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up whom I shall name unto thee.
9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath destroyed the sorcerers, and the soothsayers out of the land: wherefore then seekest thou to take me in a snare to cause me to die?
10 And Saul swore to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, no [d]harm shall come to thee for this thing.
11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he answered, Bring me up [e]Samuel.
12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice, and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.
13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw [f]gods ascending up out of the earth.
14 Then he said unto her, What fashion is he of? And she answered, An old man cometh up lapped in a mantel: and Saul knew that it was [g]Samuel, and he inclined his face to the ground, and bowed himself.
15 ¶ And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? Then Saul answered, I am in great distress: for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither [h]by Prophets, neither by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest tell me, what I shall do.
16 Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing, the Lord is gone from thee, and is thine enemy?
17 Even the Lord hath done to [i]him, as he spake (B)by mine [j]hand: for the Lord will rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and give it thy neighbor David.
18 Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the Lord, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon the Amalekites, therefore hath the Lord done this unto thee this day.
19 Moreover the Lord will deliver Israel with thee into the hands of the Philistines: [k]and tomorrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me, and the Lord shall give the host of Israel into the hands of the Philistines.
20 Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore [l]afraid because of the words of Samuel, so that there was no strength in him: for he had eaten no bread all the day nor all the night.
15 1 Certain go about to bring in circumcision at Antioch: 6 About which matter the Apostles consult: 19 and what must be done 23 they declare by letters. 36 Paul and Barnabas 39 are at great variance.
1 Then [a]came down [b]certain from Judea, and taught the brethren, saying, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
2 [c]And when there was great dissension, and disputation by Paul and Barnabas against them, they ordained that Paul and Barnabas, and certain others of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the Apostles and Elders about this question.
3 Thus [d]being brought forth by the Church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles, and they brought great joy unto all the brethren.
4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the Church, and of the Apostles and Elders, and they declared what things God had done by them.
5 But said they, certain of the sect of the Pharisees, which did believe, rose up, saying that it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the Law of Moses.
6 [e]Then the Apostles and Elders came together to look to this matter.
7 And when there had been great disputation, Peter rose up, and said unto them, (A)[f]Ye men and brethren, ye know that a [g]good while ago, among us God chose out me, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the Gospel, and believe.
8 And God which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, in giving unto them the holy Ghost even as he did unto us.
9 And he put no [h]difference between us and them, after that (B)[i]by faith he had purified their hearts.
10 [j]Now therefore, why [k]tempt ye God, to (C)lay a yoke on the disciples’ necks, which neither our fathers, nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe, through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved, even as they do.

1 And (A)[a]they came over to the other side of the sea into the country of the [b]Gadarenes.
2 And when he was come out of the ship, there met him incontinently out of the graves, a man [c]which had an unclean spirit:
3 Who had his abiding among the graves, and no man could bind him, no not with chains:
4 Because that when he was often bound with fetters and chains, he plucked the chains asunder, and brake the fetters in pieces, neither could any man tame him.
5 And always both night and day he cried in the mountains, and in the graves, and struck himself with stones.
6 And when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran, and worshipped him,
7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus the Son of the most High God? I [d]will that thou swear to me by God, that thou torment me not.
8 (For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.)
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? and he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10 And he [e]prayed him instantly, that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there in the [f]mountains a great heard of swine, feeding.
12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And incontinently Jesus gave them leave. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered into the swine, and the herd ran headlong from the high bank into the [g]sea, (and there were about two thousand swine) and they were choked up in the sea.
14 And the swineherds fled, and told it in the city, and in the country, and they came out to see what it was that was done.
15 And they came to Jesus, and saw him that had been possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sit both clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
16 And they that saw it, told them, what was done to him that was possessed with the devil, and concerning the swine.
17 Then they began to pray him, that he would depart from their coasts.
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil, prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit, Jesus would not suffer him, but said unto him, Go thy way home to thy friends, and show them what great things the Lord hath done unto thee, and how he hath had compassion on thee.
20 So he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis, what great things Jesus had done unto him: and all men did marvel.
