Psalm 146-147

146 1 David declareth his great zeal that he hath to praise God. 3 And teacheth, not to trust in man, but only in God Almighty, 7 Which delivereth the afflicted,  9 Defendeth the strangers, comforteth the fatherless, and the widows, 10 And reigneth forever.

Praise ye the Lord.

Praise thou the Lord, O my [a]soul.

I will praise the Lord during my life; as long as I have any being, I will sing unto my God.

Put not your trust in [b]Princes, nor in the son of man, for there is no help in him.

His breath departeth, and he returneth to his earth; then his [c]thoughts perish.

Blessed is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God,

Which made [d]heaven and earth, the sea, and all that therein is; which keepeth his fidelity forever,

Which executeth justice [e]for the oppressed, which giveth bread to the hungry; the Lord looseth the prisoners.

The Lord giveth sight to the blind: the Lord raiseth up the crooked: the Lord [f]loveth the righteous.

The Lord keepeth the [g]strangers: he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but he overthroweth the way of the wicked.

10 The Lord shall [h]reign forever: O Zion, thy God endureth from generation to generation. Praise ye the Lord.

147 1 The Prophet praiseth the bounty, wisdom, power, justice, and providence of God upon all his creatures. 2 But specially upon his Church, which he gathereth together after their dispersion, 19 Declaring his word and judgment so unto them, as he hath done to none other people.

Praise ye the Lord, for it is good to sing unto our God: for it is a [i]pleasant thing, and praise is comely.

The Lord doth build up [j]Jerusalem, and gather together the dispersed of Israel.

He healeth those that are [k]broken in heart, and bindeth up their sores.

He [l]counteth the number of the stars, and calleth them all by their names.

Great is our Lord, and great is his power: his wisdom is infinite.

The Lord relieveth the meek, and abaseth the wicked to the [m]ground.

Sing unto the Lord with praise: sing upon the harp unto our God,

Which [n]covereth the heaven with clouds, and prepareth rain for the earth, and maketh the grass to grow upon the mountains:

Which giveth to beasts their food, and to the young ravens that [o]cry.

10 He hath no pleasure in the [p]strength of an horse, neither delighteth he in the legs of man.

11 But the Lord delighteth in them that fear him, and attend upon his mercy.

12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem: praise thy God, O Zion.

13 For he hath made the bars of the gates [q]strong, and hath blessed thy children within thee.

14 He setteth peace in thy borders, and satisfieth thee with the [r]flour of wheat.

15 He sendeth forth his [s]commandment upon earth, and his word runneth very [t]swiftly.

16 He giveth snow like wool, and scattereth the hoary frost like ashes.

17 He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can abide the cold thereof?

18 He sendeth his word and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

19 He showeth his [u]word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

20 He hath not dealt so with every nation, neither have they [v]known his judgments. Praise ye the Lord.

Psalm 111-113

111 1 He giveth thanks to the Lord for his merciful works toward his Church, 10 and declareth wherein true wisdom and right knowledge consisteth.

Praise ye the Lord.

I will [a]praise the Lord with my whole heart in the assembly and the congregation of the just.

The works of the Lord are [b]great, and ought to be sought out of all them that love them.

His work is beautiful and glorious, and his righteousness endureth forever.

He hath made his wonderful works to be had in remembrance: the Lord is merciful and full of compassion.

He hath given [c]a [d]portion unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

He hath showed to his people the power of his works, in giving unto them the heritage of the heathen.

The [e]works of his hands are truth and judgment: all his statutes are true.

They are established forever and ever, and are done in truth and equity.

He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant forever: holy and fearful is his Name.

10 [f]The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord: all they that observe [g]them, have good understanding: his praise endureth forever.

112 1 He praiseth the felicity of them that fear God, 10 and condemneth the cursed state of the contemners of God.

Praise ye the Lord.

Blessed is the man that [h]feareth the Lord, and delighteth greatly in his commandments.

His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the righteous shall be blessed.

[i]Riches and treasures shall be in his house, and his righteousness endureth forever.

Unto the [j]righteous ariseth light in darkness: he is merciful and full of compassion and righteous.

A good man is merciful, and [k]lendeth, and will measure his affairs by judgment.

Surely he shall never be moved: but the righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance.

He will not be afraid of evil tidings: for his heart is fixed, and believeth in the Lord.

His heart is established: therefore he will not fear, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

He hath [l]distributed and given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth forever: his [m]horn shall be exalted with glory.

10 The wicked shall see it, and be angry: he shall gnash with his teeth, and [n]consume away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

113 1 An exhortation to praise the Lord for his providence 7 in that that contrary to the course of nature he worketh in his Church.

Praise ye the Lord.

Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, [o]praise the Name of the Lord.

Blessed be the Name of the Lord from henceforth and forever.

The Lord’s Name is praised from the rising of the sun, unto the going down of the same.

The Lord is high above all [p]nations, and his glory above the heavens.

Who is like unto the Lord our God, that hath his dwelling on high.

Who abaseth himself to behold things in the heavens and in the earth!

He raiseth the needy out of the dust, and lifteth up the [q]poor out of the dung,

That he may set him with the princes, even with the princes of his people.

He maketh the barren woman to dwell with a family, and a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

1 Samuel 14:36-45

36 ¶ And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning shine, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever thou thinkest best. Then said the Priest, Let us [a]draw near hither unto God.

37 So Saul asked of God, saying, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hands of Israel? But he answered him not at that time.

38 ¶ And Saul said, (A)All [b]ye chief of the people, come ye hither, and know, and see by whom this sin is done this day.

39 For as the Lord liveth, which saveth Israel, though it be done by Jonathan my son, he shall die the death. But none of all the people answered him.

40 Then he said unto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what thou thinkest best.

41 Then Saul said unto the Lord God of Israel, Give [c]a perfect lot. And Jonathan and Saul were taken, but the people escaped.

42 And Saul said, Cast lot between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan was taken.

43 Then Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what thou hast done. And Jonathan told him, and said, I tasted a little honey with the end of the rod, that was in mine hand, and lo, I must die.

44 Again Saul answered, God do so and more also, unless thou die the death, Jonathan.

45 And the people said unto Saul, [d]Shall Jonathan die, who hath so mightily delivered Israel? God forbid. As the Lord liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground: for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people delivered Jonathan that he died not.

Romans 5:1-11

1 He amplifieth 2 Christ’s righteousness, which is laid hold on by faith, 5 who was given for the weak, 8 and sinful. 14 He compareth Christ with Adam. 17 Death with Life, 20 and the Law with Grace.

Then being [a]justified by faith, we have peace toward God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

(A)[b]By whom also through faith we have [c]had this access into this grace [d]wherein we [e]stand, [f]and [g]rejoice under the hope of the glory of God.

[h]Neither that only, but also we (B)rejoice in tribulations, [i]knowing that tribulation bringeth forth patience.

And patience experience, and experience hope.

[j]And hope maketh not ashamed, because the [k]love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the holy Ghost, which is given unto us.

[l]For Christ, when we were yet of no strength, at his [m]time died for the (C)ungodly.

[n]Doubtless one will scarce die [o]for a righteous man: but yet for a good man it may be that one dare die.

But God [p]setteth out his love towards us, seeing that while we were yet [q]sinners, Christ died for us.

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from [r]wrath through him.

10 For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life,

11 [s]And not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Matthew 22:1-14

22 2 The parable of the marriage. 9 The calling of the Gentiles. 11 The wedding garments, faith. 16 Of Caesar’s tribute. 23 They question with Christ touching the resurrection. 32 God is of the living. 36 The greatest commandment. 37 To love God. 39 To love our neighbor. 42 Jesus reasoneth with the Pharisees touching the Messiah.

Then (A)[a]Jesus answered, and spake unto them again in parables, saying,

The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king which married his son,

And sent forth his servants, to call them that were bidden to the wedding, but they would not come.

Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: mine oxen and my fatlings are [b]killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, and another about his merchandise.

And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them sharply, and slew them.

[c]But when the king heard it, he was wroth, and sent forth his warriors, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt up their city.

Then said he to his servants, Truly the [d]wedding is prepared: but they which were bidden, were not worthy.

[e]Go ye therefore out into the highways, and as many as ye find, bid them to the marriage.

10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all that ever they found, both good and [f]bad: so the wedding was furnished with guests.

11 [g]Then the king came in, to see the guests, and saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment.

12 And he said unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither, and hast not on a wedding garment? And he was [h]speechless.

13 Then said the king to the [i]servants, Bind him hand and foot: take him away, and cast him into utter darkness: (B)there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

14 (C)For many are called, but few chosen.
