  1. Joseph Accepts Jesus as His Son

    This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.
  2. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
  3. “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

  5. Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness

    Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

  7. When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
  8. Jesus Sends Out the Twelve

    Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

  14. “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.
  15. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”
  16. He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord’? For he says,
  17. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
  18. And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
  19. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
  20. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
  21. Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.

  23. Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit

    They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.
  24. Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out,
  25. The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.
  26. The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”
  27. Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things?
  28. Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”
  29. but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”
  30. He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”
  31. When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him.
  32. For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”
  33. He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.

  36. Jesus Heals a Boy Possessed by an Impure Spirit

    When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them.
  37. A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech.
  38. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”
  39. So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.
  40. When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
  41. The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.”
  42. David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared: “‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”’
  43. Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
  44. Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

  60. Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit

    Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people.
  61. In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice,
  62. All the people were amazed and said to each other, “What words these are! With authority and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!”
  63. who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by impure spirits were cured,
  64. At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind.
  65. and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out;
  66. For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places.
  67. Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.
  68. A spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams; it throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It scarcely ever leaves him and is destroying him.

    Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”

  96. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
  97. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
  98. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

  104. The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost

    When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
  105. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
  106. “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

  162. We sought out the disciples there and stayed with them seven days. Through the Spirit they urged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem.

  170. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.
  171. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
  172. But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
  173. We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.
  174. Life Through the Spirit

    Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
  175. because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
  176. in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
  177. Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
  178. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
  179. You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
  180. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.
  181. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
  182. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
  183. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
  184. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

  204. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
  205. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
  206. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments,
  207. The Church and Its Leaders

    Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ.
  208. Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
  209. What do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod of discipline, or shall I come in love and with a gentle spirit?
  210. For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this.
  211. So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,
  212. hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.
  213. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
  214. But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
  215. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
  216. and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world—how she can please her husband.
  217. In my judgment, she is happier if she stays as she is—and I think that I too have the Spirit of God.
  218. If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?
  219. They all ate the same spiritual food
  220. and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.
  221. Concerning Spiritual Gifts

    Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed.
  222. Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
  223. There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.
  224. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
  225. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
  226. to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
  227. to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
  228. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
  229. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
  230. Intelligibility in Worship

    Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.
  231. For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.
  232. So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church.
  233. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.
  234. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding.
  235. Otherwise when you are praising God in the Spirit, how can someone else, who is now put in the position of an inquirer, say “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since they do not know what you are saying?
  236. The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets.
  237. If anyone thinks they are a prophet or otherwise gifted by the Spirit, let them acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord’s command.
  238. it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
  239. So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.
  240. The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual.
  241. For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.
  242. set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
  243. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
  244. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
  245. will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?
  246. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
  247. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
  248. It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak,
  249. Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
  250. in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love;
  251. Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
  252. By all this we are encouraged. In addition to our own encouragement, we were especially delighted to see how happy Titus was, because his spirit has been refreshed by all of you.
  253. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.
  254. I urged Titus to go to you and I sent our brother with him. Titus did not exploit you, did he? Did we not walk in the same footsteps by the same Spirit?
  255. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
  256. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?
  257. Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?
  258. So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
  259. He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
  260. So also, when we were underage, we were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forces of the world.
  261. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”
  262. At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now.
  263. For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.
  264. Life by the Spirit

    You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
  265. So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
  266. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
  267. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
  268. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
  269. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
  270. Doing Good to All

    Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.
  271. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
  272. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.
  273. Praise for Spiritual Blessings in Christ

    Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
  274. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
  275. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
  276. in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
  277. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
  278. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
  279. which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.
  280. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
  281. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
  282. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;
  283. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
  284. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,
  285. speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,
  286. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
  287. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
  288. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
  289. for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.
  290. Life Worthy of the Gospel

    Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel
  291. Imitating Christ’s Humility

    Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
  292. then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
  293. For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—
  294. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
  295. and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.
  296. For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,
  297. For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how disciplined you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
  298. Spiritual Fullness in Christ

    So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him,
  299. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
  300. Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:
  301. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
  302. because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.
  303. You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.
  304. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.
  305. Do not quench the Spirit.
  306. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  307. Stand Firm

    But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.
  308. Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
  309. The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
  310. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
  311. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.
  312. The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you all.
  313. he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
  314. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
  315. In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.”
  316. Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
  317. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
  318. Warning Against Unbelief

    So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice,
  319. For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
  320. It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit,
  321. The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still functioning.
  322. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
  323. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
  324. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
  325. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!
  326. to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,
  327. As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
  328. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?
  329. who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
  330. trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow.
  331. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
  332. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,
  333. you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
  334. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
  335. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.
  336. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits—
  337. For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.
  338. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
  339. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
  340. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
  341. On Denying the Incarnation

    Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
  342. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
  343. but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
  344. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
  345. This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.
  346. This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
  347. the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.
  348. These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
  349. But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,
  350. Greetings and Doxology

    John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne,
  351. On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,
  352. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

  360. At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.

  362. Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

  365. They are demonic spirits that perform signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.
  366. Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.
  367. With a mighty voice he shouted: “‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’ She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.
  368. At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.”
  369. And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
  370. The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
