  1. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
  2. Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
  3. And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

  8. That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
  9. Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
  10. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
  11. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
  12. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
  13. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
  14. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
  15. By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
