  1. God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
  2. For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

  9. Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.
  10. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
  11. If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
  12. For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
  13. To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
  14. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
  15. Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
  16. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
  17. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
  18. But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
  19. By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
  20. Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.
  21. And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
  22. And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
  23. Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
