    The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
  2. Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”

  9. Dispute Over Who Jesus Is

    Once more Jesus said to them, “I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.”
  10. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.”
  11. Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
  12. Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me?
  13. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
  14. “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.
  15. Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided.
  16. A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,” they said. “We know this man is a sinner.”
  17. He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”
  18. We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will.
  19. To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.
  20. Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.
  21. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
  22. Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the festival, or to give something to the poor.
  23. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.
  24. If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.
  25. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment:
