He said to me, “You are my son;^(A)
    today I have become your father.^(B)
8 Ask me,
    and I will make the nations^(C) your inheritance,^(D)
    the ends of the earth^(E) your possession.
⁹ You will break them with a rod of iron^[a];^(F)
    you will dash them to pieces^(G) like pottery.^(H)”

⁶ For to us a child is born,^(A)
    to us a son is given,^(B)
    and the government^(C) will be on his shoulders.^(D)
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor,^(E) Mighty God,^(F)
    Everlasting^(G) Father,^(H) Prince of Peace.^(I)

⁹ Therefore God exalted him^(A) to the highest place
    and gave him the name that is above every name,^(B)
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,^(C)
    in heaven and on earth and under the earth,^(D)
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,^(E)
    to the glory of God the Father.
