The Majesty of the Lord.
93 (A)The Lord [a]reigns, He is (B)clothed with majesty;
The Lord has (C)clothed and encircled Himself with strength.
Indeed, the (D)world is firmly established; it will not be moved.
2 Your (E)throne is established from of old;
You (F)are from eternity.
3 The (G)floods have lifted up, Lord,
The floods have lifted up their voice,
The floods lift up their pounding waves.
4 More than the sounds of many waters,
Than the mighty breakers of the sea,
The Lord (H)on high is mighty.
5 Your (I)testimonies are fully confirmed;
(J)Holiness is pleasing to Your house,
Lord, [b]forevermore.
The Lord Implored to Avenge His People.
94 Lord, God of [c](K)vengeance,
God of [d]vengeance, [e](L)shine forth!
2 (M)Rise up, (N)Judge of the earth,
Pay back retribution (O)to the proud.
3 How long, Lord, shall the wicked—
How long shall the (P)wicked triumph?
4 They pour out words, they (Q)speak arrogantly;
All who do injustice (R)boast.
5 They (S)crush Your people, Lord,
And (T)afflict Your inheritance.
6 They (U)kill the widow and the stranger
And murder the orphans.
7 (V)They have said, “[f]The Lord does not see,
Nor does the God of Jacob perceive.”
8 Pay attention, you (W)stupid ones among the people;
And when will you understand, (X)foolish ones?
9 He who (Y)planted the ear, [g]does He not hear?
Or He who formed the eye, [h]does He not see?
10 He who [i](Z)disciplines the nations, will He not rebuke,
He who (AA)teaches mankind knowledge?
11 The Lord (AB)knows human thoughts,
[j]That they are mere breath.
12 Blessed is the man whom (AC)You discipline, [k]Lord,
And (AD)whom You teach from Your Law,
13 So that You may grant him (AE)relief from the (AF)days of adversity,
Until (AG)a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For (AH)the Lord will not abandon His people,
Nor will He (AI)abandon His inheritance.
15 For [l](AJ)judgment [m]will again be righteous,
And all the upright in heart [n]will follow it.
16 Who will (AK)stand up for me against evildoers?
Who will take his stand for me (AL)against those who do injustice?
17 If (AM)the Lord had not been my help,
My soul would soon have dwelt in the land of silence.
18 If I should say, “(AN)My foot has slipped,”
Your faithfulness, Lord, will support me.
19 When my anxious thoughts [o]multiply within me,
Your (AO)comfort delights my soul.
20 Can a [p](AP)throne of destruction be allied with You,
One (AQ)which devises [q]mischief by decree?
21 They (AR)band themselves together against the [r]life of the righteous
And (AS)condemn [s]the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has been my (AT)refuge,
And my God the (AU)rock of my refuge.
23 He has (AV)brought back their injustice upon them,
And He will [t](AW)destroy them in their evil;
The Lord our God will [u]destroy them.
Praise to the Lord and Warning against Unbelief.
95 Come, let’s (AX)sing for joy to the Lord,
Let’s shout joyfully to (AY)the rock of our salvation.
2 Let’s (AZ)come before His presence (BA)with a song of thanksgiving,
Let’s shout joyfully to Him (BB)in songs with instruments.
3 For the Lord is a (BC)great God
And a great King (BD)above all gods,
4 In whose hand are the (BE)depths of the earth,
The peaks of the mountains are also His.
5 [v]The sea is His, for it was He (BF)who made it,
And His hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let’s (BG)worship and bow down,
Let’s (BH)kneel before the Lord our (BI)Maker.
7 For He is our God,
And (BJ)we are the people of His [w](BK)pasture and the sheep of His hand.
(BL)Today, [x]if you will hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as at [y](BM)Meribah,
As on the day of [z](BN)Massah in the wilderness,
9 “When your fathers (BO)put Me to the test,
They tested Me, though they had seen My work.
10 For (BP)forty years I was disgusted with that generation,
And said they are a people who err in their heart,
And they do not know My ways.
11 Therefore I (BQ)swore in My anger,
They certainly shall not enter My (BR)rest.”
A Call to Worship the Lord the Righteous Judge.
96 (BS)Sing to the Lord a (BT)new song;
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
(BU)Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
3 Tell of (BV)His glory among the nations,
His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.
4 For (BW)great is the Lord, and (BX)greatly to be praised;
He is to be (BY)feared (BZ)above all gods.
5 For (CA)all the gods of the peoples are [aa]idols,
But (CB)the Lord made the heavens.
6 (CC)Splendor and majesty are before Him,
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
7 [ab]Ascribe to the Lord, you (CD)families of the peoples,
[ac](CE)Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
8 [ad]Ascribe to the Lord the (CF)glory of His name;
Bring an [ae](CG)offering and come into His courtyards.
9 (CH)Worship the Lord in [af]holy attire;
(CI)Tremble before Him, all the earth.
10 Say among the nations, “(CJ)The Lord reigns;
Indeed, the (CK)world is firmly established, it will not be moved;
He will (CL)judge the peoples fairly.”
11 May the (CM)heavens be joyful, and may the (CN)earth rejoice;
May (CO)the sea [ag]roar, and [ah]all it contains;
12 May the (CP)field be jubilant, and all that is in it.
Then all the (CQ)trees of the forest will sing for joy
13 Before the Lord, (CR)for He is coming,
For He is coming to judge the earth.
(CS)He will judge the world in righteousness,
And the peoples in His faithfulness.
The Lord’s Power and Dominion.
97 (CT)The Lord [ai]reigns, may the (CU)earth rejoice;
May the many [aj](CV)islands be joyful.
2 (CW)Clouds and thick darkness surround Him;
(CX)Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
3 (CY)Fire goes before Him
And (CZ)burns up His enemies all around.
4 His (DA)lightning lit up the world;
The earth saw it and (DB)trembled.
5 The mountains (DC)melted like wax at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the (DD)Lord of the whole earth.
6 The (DE)heavens declare His righteousness,
And (DF)all the peoples have seen His glory.
7 May all those be ashamed who serve (DG)carved images,
Who boast in (DH)idols;
[ak](DI)Worship Him, all you [al]gods.
8 Zion [am]heard this and (DJ)was joyful,
And the daughters of Judah have rejoiced
Because of Your judgments, Lord.
9 For You are the Lord (DK)Most High over all the earth;
You are exalted far (DL)above all [an]gods.
10 (DM)Hate evil, you who love the Lord,
Who (DN)watches over the souls of His godly ones;
He (DO)saves them from the hand of the wicked.
11 (DP)Light is sown like seed for the righteous,
And (DQ)gladness for the upright in heart.
12 Be (DR)joyful in the Lord, you righteous ones,
And (DS)praise [ao]the mention of His holy name.
A Call to Praise the Lord for His Righteousness.
A Psalm.
98 Sing a (DT)new song to the Lord,
For He has done (DU)wonderful things,
His (DV)right hand and His (DW)holy arm have [ap]gained the victory for Him.
2 (DX)The Lord has made His salvation known;
He has (DY)revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations.
3 He has (DZ)remembered His graciousness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel;
(EA)All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4 (EB)Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;
(EC)Be cheerful and sing for joy and sing praises.
5 Sing praises to the Lord with the (ED)lyre,
With the lyre and the [aq](EE)sound of melody.
6 With (EF)trumpets and the sound of the horn
(EG)Shout joyfully before (EH)the King, the Lord.
7 May the (EI)sea roar and [ar]all it contains,
The (EJ)world and those who dwell in it.
8 May the (EK)rivers clap their hands,
May the (EL)mountains sing together for joy
9 Before the Lord, for He is coming to (EM)judge the earth;
He will judge the world with righteousness
And (EN)the peoples with fairness.

99 (EO)The Lord reigns, [as]the peoples tremble!
He (EP)sits enthroned above the cherubim, [at]the earth quakes!
2 The Lord [au]is (EQ)great in Zion,
And He is (ER)exalted above all the peoples.
3 May they praise Your (ES)great and awesome name;
(ET)Holy is [av]He.
4 The [aw]strength of the King (EU)loves [ax]justice;
You have established [ay](EV)order;
You have (EW)executed [az]justice and righteousness in Jacob.
5 [ba](EX)Exalt the Lord our God
And (EY)worship at His footstool;
(EZ)Holy is He.
6 (FA)Moses and Aaron were among His (FB)priests,
And (FC)Samuel was among those who (FD)called on His name;
They (FE)called upon the Lord and He answered them.
7 He (FF)spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
They (FG)kept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
8 Lord our God, You (FH)answered them;
You were a (FI)forgiving God to them,
And yet an (FJ)avenger of their evil deeds.
9 Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His holy hill,
For the Lord our God is holy.

2 (FL)Serve the Lord with jubilation;
(FM)Come before Him with rejoicing.

We are (FP)His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates (FQ)with [be]thanksgiving,
And His courtyards with praise.

101 I will (FV)sing of mercy and [bf]justice;
To You, Lord, I will sing praises.
2 I will (FW)carefully attend to the [bg]blameless way.
When will You come to me?
I will walk within my house in the [bh](FX)integrity of my heart.
3 I will set no (FY)worthless thing before my eyes;
I hate the [bi]work of those who (FZ)fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
4 A (GA)perverse heart shall leave me;
I will know no evil.
5 Whoever secretly (GB)slanders his neighbor, him I will [bj]destroy;
I will not endure one who has a (GC)haughty look and an arrogant heart.
6 My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me;
One who walks in a [bk](GD)blameless way is one who will serve me.
7 One who (GE)practices deceit shall not dwell within my house;
One who speaks lies (GF)shall not [bl]maintain his position before me.
8 (GG)Every morning I will [bm](GH)destroy all the wicked of the land,
So as to (GI)eliminate from the (GJ)city of the Lord all those who do injustice.
Prayer of an Afflicted Man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion.
A Prayer of the afflicted when he is weak and [bn]pours out his complaint before the Lord.
102 (GK)Hear my prayer, Lord!
And let my cry for help (GL)come to You.
2 (GM)Do not hide Your face from me on the day of my distress;
(GN)Incline Your ear to me;
On the day when I call (GO)answer me quickly.
3 For my days (GP)have ended in smoke,
And my (GQ)bones have been scorched like a hearth.
4 My heart (GR)has been struck like [bo]grass and has (GS)withered,
Indeed, I (GT)forget to eat my bread.
5 Because of the [bp]loudness of my groaning
My (GU)bones [bq]cling to my flesh.
6 I resemble a (GV)pelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the ruins.
7 I (GW)lie awake,
I have become like a solitary bird on a housetop.
8 My enemies (GX)have taunted me all day long;

9 For I have eaten ashes like bread,
And (HA)mixed my drink with weeping
10 (HB)Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;
For You have (HC)lifted me up and thrown me away.

12 But You, Lord, [bw](HF)remain forever,
And Your [bx](HG)name remains to all generations.
13 You will (HH)arise and have (HI)compassion on Zion;
For (HJ)it is time to be gracious to her,
For the (HK)appointed time has come.
14 Surely Your servants [by]take pleasure in her stones,
And feel pity for her dust.
15 [bz]So the [ca](HL)nations will fear the name of the Lord,
And (HM)all the kings of the earth, Your glory.
16 For the Lord has (HN)built up Zion;
He has (HO)appeared in His glory.
17 He has (HP)turned His attention to the prayer of the [cb]destitute
And has not despised their prayer.

[cd]That (HS)a people yet to be created [ce]may praise [cf]the Lord:
19 For He (HT)looked down from His holy height;
(HU)From heaven the Lord looked [cg]upon the earth,
20 To hear the (HV)groaning of the prisoner,
To (HW)set free [ch]those who were doomed to death,
21 So that people may (HX)tell of the name of the Lord in Zion,
And His praise in Jerusalem,
22 When (HY)the peoples are gathered together,
And the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.
23 He has broken my strength in the way;
He has (HZ)shortened my days.
24 I say, “My God, (IA)do not take me away in the middle of my days,
Your (IB)years are [ci]throughout all generations.
25 In time of old You (IC)founded the earth,
And the (ID)heavens are the work of Your hands.
26 [cj]Even they will (IE)perish, but You endure;
All of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will pass away.
27 But You are [ck](IF)the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.
28 The (IG)children of Your servants will continue,
And their [cl](IH)descendants will be established before You.”

And all that is within me, bless His (IJ)holy name.
2 Bless the Lord, my soul,
And (IK)do not forget any of His benefits;
3 Who (IL)pardons all your guilt,
Who (IM)heals all your diseases;
4 Who (IN)redeems your life from the pit,
Who (IO)crowns you with favor and compassion;
5 Who (IP)satisfies your [cm]years with good things,
So that your youth is (IQ)renewed like the eagle.
6 The Lord (IR)performs [cn]righteous deeds
And judgments for all who are (IS)oppressed.
7 He (IT)made known His ways to Moses,
His (IU)deeds to the sons of Israel.
8 The Lord is (IV)compassionate and gracious,
(IW)Slow to anger and abounding in mercy.

Nor will He (IY)keep His anger forever.

Nor rewarded us according to our guilty deeds.

So great is His mercy toward those who [co]fear Him.
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He (JB)removed our wrongdoings from us.
13 Just (JC)as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who [cp]fear Him.
14 For (JD)He Himself knows [cq]our form;
He (JE)is mindful that we are nothing but (JF)dust.
15 As for man, his days are (JG)like grass;
Like a (JH)flower of the field, so he flourishes.
16 When the (JI)wind has passed over it, it is no more,
And its (JJ)place no longer knows about it.
17 But the [cr](JK)mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting for those who [cs]fear Him,
And His justice (JL)to the children’s children,
18 To (JM)those who keep His covenant
And remember His precepts, so as to do them.
19 The Lord has established His (JN)throne in the heavens,
And His [ct](JO)sovereignty rules over [cu]all.
20 Bless the Lord, you (JP)His angels,
(JQ)Mighty in strength, who (JR)perform His word,
(JS)Obeying the voice of His word!

You (JU)who serve Him, doing His will.

In all places of His dominion;

Lord my God, You are very great;
You are (JX)clothed with splendor and majesty,
2 Covering Yourself with (JY)light as with a cloak,
(JZ)Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain.
3 [cw]He (KA)lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters;
[cx]He makes the (KB)clouds His chariot;
[cy]He walks on the (KC)wings of the wind;
4 [cz]He makes [da](KD)the winds His messengers,

5 He (KF)established the earth upon its foundations,

6 You (KG)covered it with the deep sea as with a garment;
The waters were standing above the mountains.

At the (KI)sound of Your thunder they hurried away.
8 The mountains rose; the valleys sank down

9 You set a (KK)boundary so that they will not pass over,
So that they will not return to cover the earth.

They flow between the mountains;
11 They (KM)give drink to every animal of the field;
The (KN)wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 The birds of the sky (KO)dwell [de]beside them;
They [df]lift up their voices from among the branches.
13 [dg]He (KP)waters the mountains from His upper chambers;
(KQ)The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works.
14 [dh]He causes the (KR)grass to grow for the [di]cattle,
And (KS)vegetation for the labor of mankind,

15 And (KU)wine, which makes a human heart cheerful,
(KV)So that he makes his face gleam with oil,
And [dl]food, which (KW)sustains a human heart.
16 The trees of the Lord [dm]drink their fill,
The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,
17 Where the (KX)birds build their nests,
And the (KY)stork, whose home is the juniper trees.
18 The high mountains are for the (KZ)wild goats;
The (LA)cliffs are a refuge for the (LB)rock hyrax.
19 He made the moon (LC)for the seasons;
The (LD)sun knows the place of its setting.
20 You (LE)appoint darkness and it becomes night,
In which all the (LF)animals of the forest [dn]prowl about.
21 The (LG)young lions roar for their prey
[do]And (LH)seek their food from God.
22 When the sun rises they withdraw,
And they lie down in their (LI)dens.
23 A person goes out to (LJ)his work
And to his labor until evening.
24 Lord, how (LK)many are Your works!
[dp]In (LL)wisdom You have made them all;
The (LM)earth is full of Your [dq]possessions.
25 [dr]There is the (LN)sea, great and [ds]broad,
In which are swarms without number,
Animals both small and great.
26 The (LO)ships move along there,
And [dt](LP)Leviathan, which You have formed to have fun in it.
27 They all (LQ)wait for You
To (LR)give them their food in [du]due season.
28 You give to them, they gather it up;
You (LS)open Your hand, they are satisfied with good.
29 You (LT)hide Your face, they are terrified;
You (LU)take away their breath, they perish
And (LV)return to their dust.
30 You send forth Your [dv](LW)Spirit, they are created;
And You renew the face of the ground.
31 May the (LX)glory of the Lord endure forever;
May the Lord (LY)rejoice in His works;
32 [dw]He (LZ)looks at the earth, and it (MA)trembles;
He (MB)touches the mountains, and they smoke.
33 [dx]I will sing to the Lord [dy](MC)as long as I live;
[dz]I will (MD)sing praise to my God [ea]while I have my being.
34 May my (ME)praise be pleasing to Him;
As for me, I shall (MF)rejoice in the Lord.
35 May sinners be (MG)removed from the earth
And may the (MH)wicked be no more.

(MM)Make His deeds known among the peoples.
2 Sing to Him, (MN)sing praises to Him;

3 Boast in His holy name;
May the (MP)heart of those who seek the Lord be joyful.
4 Seek the Lord and (MQ)His strength;
(MR)Seek His face continually.
5 Remember His [ef](MS)wonders which He has done,
His marvels and the (MT)judgments [eg]spoken by His mouth,
6 You [eh]descendants of (MU)Abraham, His servant,
You sons of (MV)Jacob, His (MW)chosen ones!
7 He is the Lord our God;
His (MX)judgments are in all the earth.
8 He has (MY)remembered His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded to a (MZ)thousand generations,
9 The (NA)covenant which He made with Abraham,
And His (NB)oath to Isaac.
10 Then He (NC)confirmed it to Jacob as a statute,
To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 Saying, “(ND)To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the [ei](NE)portion of your inheritance,”
12 When they were only a (NF)few people in number,
Very few, and (NG)strangers in it.
13 And they wandered from nation to nation,
From one kingdom to another people,
14 He (NH)allowed no one to oppress them,
And He [ej](NI)rebuked kings for their sakes, saying,
15 “(NJ)Do not touch My anointed ones,
And do not harm My prophets.”
16 And He (NK)called for a famine upon the land;
He (NL)broke the whole staff of bread.
17 He (NM)sent a man before them,
Joseph, who was (NN)sold as a slave.
18 They forced his (NO)feet into shackles,
[ek]He was put in irons;
19 Until the time that his (NP)word came to pass,
The word of the Lord (NQ)refined him.
20 The (NR)king sent and released him,
The ruler of peoples, and set him free.
21 He (NS)made him lord of his house,
And ruler over all his possessions,
22 To [el]imprison his high officials [em](NT)at will,
That he might teach his elders wisdom.
23 (NU)Israel also came into Egypt;
So Jacob (NV)lived in the land of Ham.
24 And He (NW)made His people very fruitful,
And made them stronger than their enemies.
25 He (NX)turned their heart to hate His people,
To (NY)deal cunningly with His servants.
26 He (NZ)sent His servant Moses,
And (OA)Aaron, whom He had chosen.
27 They [en](OB)performed His wondrous acts among them,
And miracles in the land of Ham.
28 He (OC)sent darkness and made it dark;
And they did not (OD)rebel against His words.
29 He (OE)turned their waters into blood,
And caused their fish to die.
30 Their land swarmed with (OF)frogs
Even in the (OG)chambers of their kings.
31 He spoke, and a (OH)swarm of flies
And (OI)gnats invaded all their territory.
32 He [eo]gave them (OJ)hail for rain,
And flaming fire in their land.
33 He also (OK)struck their vines and their fig trees,
And smashed the trees of their territory.
34 He spoke, and (OL)locusts came,
And creeping locusts, beyond number,
35 And they ate all the vegetation in their land,
And ate the fruit of their ground.
36 He also (OM)fatally struck all the firstborn in their land,
The (ON)first fruits of all their vigor.
37 Then He brought [ep]the Israelites out with (OO)silver and gold,
And among His tribes there was not one who stumbled.
38 Egypt was (OP)glad when they departed,
For the (OQ)dread of them had fallen upon [eq]the Egyptians.
39 He spread out a (OR)cloud as a [er]covering,
And (OS)fire to illumine by night.
40 [es]They (OT)asked, and He brought (OU)quail,
And satisfied them with the [et](OV)bread of heaven.
41 He opened the [eu]rock and (OW)water flowed out;
[ev]It ran in the dry places like a river.
42 For He (OX)remembered His holy word
With His servant Abraham;
43 And He led out His people with joy,
His chosen ones with a joyful (OY)shout.
44 He also (OZ)gave them the lands of the [ew]nations,
So that they (PA)might take possession of the fruit of the peoples’ labor,
45 And that they might (PB)keep His statutes
And comply with His laws;

Israel’s Rebelliousness and the Lord’s Help.

Oh (PC)give thanks to the Lord, for He (PD)is good;
For (PE)His mercy is everlasting.
2 Who can speak of the (PF)mighty deeds of the Lord,
Or can proclaim all His praise?
3 How blessed are those who maintain [fb]justice,
[fc]Who (PG)practice righteousness at all times!
4 Remember me, Lord, in Your (PH)favor [fd]toward Your people.
Visit me with Your salvation,
5 So that I may see the (PI)prosperity of Your chosen ones,
That I may (PJ)rejoice in the joy of Your nation,
That I may (PK)boast with Your [fe]inheritance.
6 (PL)We have sinned [ff](PM)like our fathers,

1 Praise the Lord,(JR) my soul;(JS)
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.(JT)

Lord my God, you are very great;
you are clothed with splendor and majesty.(LK)

3 and lays the beams(LQ) of his upper chambers on their waters.(LR)
He makes the clouds(LS) his chariot(LT)

5 He set the earth(LX) on its foundations;(LY)
it can never be moved.

and plants for people to cultivate—
bringing forth food(MP) from the earth:
15 wine(MQ) that gladdens human hearts,
oil(MR) to make their faces shine,
and bread that sustains(MS) their hearts.
16 The trees of the Lord(MT) are well watered,
the cedars of Lebanon(MU) that he planted.
17 There the birds(MV) make their nests;
the stork has its home in the junipers.
18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats;(MW)
the crags are a refuge for the hyrax.(MX)
19 He made the moon to mark the seasons,(MY)
and the sun(MZ) knows when to go down.
20 You bring darkness,(NA) it becomes night,(NB)
and all the beasts of the forest(NC) prowl.
21 The lions roar for their prey(ND)
and seek their food from God.(NE)
22 The sun rises, and they steal away;
they return and lie down in their dens.(NF)
23 Then people go out to their work,(NG)
to their labor until evening.(NH)
24 How many are your works,(NI) Lord!
In wisdom you made(NJ) them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.(NK)
25 There is the sea,(NL) vast and spacious,
teeming with creatures beyond number—
living things both large and small.(NM)
26 There the ships(NN) go to and fro,
and Leviathan,(NO) which you formed to frolic(NP) there.(NQ)
27 All creatures look to you
to give them their food(NR) at the proper time.

make known among the nations what he has done.

and destroyed all their supplies of food;

35 they ate up every green thing in their land,
ate up the produce of their soil.
36 Then he struck down all the firstborn(QO) in their land,
the firstfruits of all their manhood.
37 He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold,(QP)
and from among their tribes no one faltered.
38 Egypt was glad when they left,
because dread of Israel(QQ) had fallen on them.
39 He spread out a cloud(QR) as a covering,
and a fire to give light at night.(QS)
40 They asked,(QT) and he brought them quail;(QU)
he fed them well with the bread of heaven.(QV)
41 He opened the rock,(QW) and water gushed out;
it flowed like a river in the desert.

given to his servant Abraham.

Psalm 106(RD)
2 Who can proclaim the mighty acts(RH) of the Lord
or fully declare his praise?
3 Blessed are those who act justly,(RI)
who always do what is right.(RJ)
4 Remember me,(RK) Lord, when you show favor(RL) to your people,
come to my aid(RM) when you save them,
5 that I may enjoy the prosperity(RN) of your chosen ones,(RO)
that I may share in the joy(RP) of your nation
and join your inheritance(RQ) in giving praise.
6 We have sinned,(RR) even as our ancestors(RS) did;
we have done wrong and acted wickedly.(RT)
7 When our ancestors were in Egypt,
they gave no thought(RU) to your miracles;
they did not remember(RV) your many kindnesses,
and they rebelled by the sea,(RW) the Red Sea.[m]
8 Yet he saved them(RX) for his name’s sake,(RY)
to make his mighty power(RZ) known.
9 He rebuked(SA) the Red Sea, and it dried up;(SB)
he led them through(SC) the depths as through a desert.
10 He saved them(SD) from the hand of the foe;(SE)
from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them.(SF)

not one of them survived.
12 Then they believed his promises

and did not wait for his plan to unfold.(SJ)
14 In the desert(SK) they gave in to their craving;
in the wilderness(SL) they put God to the test.(SM)
15 So he gave them(SN) what they asked for,
but sent a wasting disease(SO) among them.
16 In the camp they grew envious(SP) of Moses
and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the Lord.
17 The earth opened(SQ) up and swallowed Dathan;(SR)
it buried the company of Abiram.(SS)
18 Fire blazed(ST) among their followers;
a flame consumed the wicked.
19 At Horeb they made a calf(SU)
and worshiped an idol cast from metal.
20 They exchanged their glorious God(SV)
for an image of a bull, which eats grass.
21 They forgot the God(SW) who saved them,
who had done great things(SX) in Egypt,
22 miracles in the land of Ham(SY)
and awesome deeds(SZ) by the Red Sea.
23 So he said he would destroy(TA) them—
had not Moses, his chosen one,
stood in the breach(TB) before him
to keep his wrath from destroying them.
