Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness(A)
4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a](B) by the devil.(C) 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights,(D) he was hungry. 3 The tempter(E) came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God,(F) tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]”(G)
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city(H) and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,”(I) he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]”(J)
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]”(K)
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan!(L) For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]”(M)
11 Then the devil left him,(N) and angels came and attended him.(O)
Jesus Begins to Preach
12 When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison,(P) he withdrew to Galilee.(Q) 13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum,(R) which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— 14 to fulfill(S) what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles—
16 the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”[f](T)
17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven(U) has come near.”
Jesus Calls His First Disciples(V)
18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee,(W) he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter(X) and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,”(Y) Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.(Z)
21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John.(AA) They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.(AB)
Jesus Heals the Sick
23 Jesus went throughout Galilee,(AC) teaching in their synagogues,(AD) proclaiming the good news(AE) of the kingdom,(AF) and healing every disease and sickness among the people.(AG) 24 News about him spread all over Syria,(AH) and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed,(AI) those having seizures,(AJ) and the paralyzed;(AK) and he healed them. 25 Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis,[g] Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.(AL)

3 И приближи се до Него изкусителят и рече: ако си Син Божий, кажи, тия камъни да станат на хлябове.
4 (A)А Той му отговори и рече: писано е: „не само с хляб ще живее човек, а с всяко слово, което излиза от Божии уста“.
5 Тогава дяволът Го завежда в светия град и Го поставя на храмовата стряха,
6 (B)и Му казва: ако си Син Божий, хвърли се долу, защото писано е: „на Ангелите Си ще заповяда за Тебе, и на ръце ще Те понесат, да не би някак да препънеш о камък ногата Си“.
7 (C)Иисус му рече: писано е също: „няма да изкусиш Господа, Бога твоего“.
8 Пак Го завежда дяволът на твърде висока планина и Му показва всички царства на света и тяхната слава,
9 и Му дума: всичко това ще Ти дам, ако паднеш и ми се поклониш.
10 (D)Тогава Иисус му казва: махни се от Мене, сатана! защото писано е: „Господу, Богу твоему, ще се поклониш и Нему едному ще служиш“.
11 Тогава дяволът Го оставя, и ето, Ангели дойдоха и Му служеха.
12 (E)А като чу Иисус, че Иоан е предаден, отиде в Галилея;
13 и като остави Назарет, дойде и се засели в Капернаум крайморски, в пределите Завулонови и Нефталимови,
14 за да се сбъдне реченото чрез пророк Исаия, който казва:
15 (F)„земята Завулонова и земята Нефталимова, на крайморския път, отвъд Иордан, езическа Галилея,
16 народът, който седеше в мрак, видя голяма светлина, и за ония, които седяха в страна и сянка смъртна, изгря светлина“.
17 (G)Оттогава Иисус начена да проповядва и да казва: покайте се, защото се приближи царството небесно.
18 (H)И като вървеше покрай Галилейско море, видя двама братя, Симона, наричан Петър, и брата му Андрея, да хвърлят мрежа в морето, понеже бяха рибари;
19 и казва им: вървете след Мене, и Аз ще ви направя ловци на човеци.
20 И те веднага оставиха мрежите, и тръгнаха след Него.
21 Оттам като отиде по-нататък, видя други двама братя, Иакова Зеведеева и брата му Иоана, в кораб със Зеведея, баща им, които кърпеха мрежите си, и ги повика.
22 Те веднага оставиха кораба и баща си и тръгнаха след Него.
23 И ходеше Иисус по цяла Галилея, като поучаваше в синагогите им, проповядваше Евангелието на царството и изцеряваше всяка болест и всяка немощ у народа.
24 (I)И пръсна се слух за Него по цяла Сирия; и доведоха при Него всички немощни, налегнати от всякакви болести и недъзи, и хванати от бяс и луничави, и разслабени, и Той ги изцери.
25 (J)И подире Му тръгнаха много тълпи народ от Галилея и Десетоградие, от Иерусалим и Иудея и изотвъд Иордан.

Jesús puesto a prueba en el desierto
4 Después de esto, el Espíritu llevó a Jesús al desierto para que el diablo lo pusiera a prueba. 2 Jesús ayunó cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, y al final sintió hambre. 3 Entonces se le acercó el diablo y le dijo:
— Si de veras eres Hijo de Dios, di que estas piedras se conviertan en pan.
4 Jesús le contestó:
— Las Escrituras dicen: No sólo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda palabra pronunciada por Dios.
5 El diablo lo llevó luego a la ciudad santa, lo subió al alero del Templo 6 y le dijo:
— Si de veras eres Hijo de Dios, tírate abajo, porque dicen las Escrituras: Dios ordenará a sus ángeles que cuiden de ti y te tomen en sus manos para que tu pie no tropiece con ninguna piedra.
7 Jesús le contestó:
— También dicen las Escrituras: No pondrás a prueba al Señor tu Dios.
8 De nuevo el diablo lo llevó a un monte muy alto y, mostrándole todas las naciones del mundo y su esplendor, 9 le dijo:
— Yo te daré todo esto si te arrodillas ante mí y me adoras.
10 Pero Jesús le replicó:
— Vete de aquí, Satanás, pues dicen las Escrituras: Al Señor tu Dios adorarás y sólo a él darás culto.
11 El diablo se apartó entonces de Jesús, y llegaron los ángeles para servirle.
III.— ANUNCIO DEL REINO EN GALILEA (4,12—18,35)
Primera actividad de Jesús (4,12-25)
Jesús inicia su actividad (Mc 1,14-15; Lc 4,1-13)
12 Al enterarse Jesús de que Juan había sido encarcelado, se retiró a Galilea. 13 Pero no fue a Nazaret sino que fijó su residencia en Cafarnaún, junto al lago, en los términos de Zabulón y Neftalí, 14 en cumplimiento de lo dicho por medio del profeta Isaías:
15 ¡Tierra de Zabulón y Neftalí,
camino del mar, al oriente del Jordán,
Galilea de los paganos!
16 El pueblo sumido en las tinieblas
vio una luz resplandeciente;
a los que vivían en país de sombra de muerte,
una luz los alumbró.
17 A partir de aquel momento, Jesús comenzó a predicar diciendo:
— Conviértanse, porque ya está cerca el reino de los cielos.
Llamamiento de los primeros discípulos (Mc 1,16-20; Lc 5,1.10-11)
18 Iba Jesús paseando por la orilla del lago de Galilea, cuando vio a dos hermanos: Simón, también llamado Pedro, y su hermano Andrés. Eran pescadores, y estaban echando la red en el lago. 19 Jesús les dijo:
— Vengan conmigo y los haré pescadores de hombres.
20 Ellos dejaron de inmediato punto sus redes y se fueron con él. 21 Más adelante vio a otros dos hermanos: Santiago y Juan, los hijos de Zebedeo, que estaban en la barca con su padre, reparando las redes. Los llamó, 22 y ellos, dejando en seguida la barca y a su padre, lo siguieron.
Jesús enseña y cura
23 Jesús recorría toda Galilea enseñando en las sinagogas judías. Anunciaba la buena noticia del Reino y curaba toda clase de enfermedades y dolencias de la gente. 24 Su fama se extendió por toda Siria, y le traían a todos los que padecían algún mal: a los que sufrían diferentes enfermedades y dolores, y también a endemoniados, lunáticos y paralíticos. Y Jesús los curaba. 25 Así que lo seguía una enorme muchedumbre procedente de Galilea, de la Decápolis, de Jerusalén, de Judea y de la orilla oriental del Jordán.

3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;
13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
