Miracles of Healing

^18 (A)While He was saying these things to them, behold, ^[a]a synagogue ^[b]official came and ^[c](B)was bowing down before Him, and said, “My daughter has just died; but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live.” ¹⁹ And Jesus got up and began to follow him, and so did His disciples.

²⁰ And behold, a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched ^(C)the ^[d]fringe of His ^[e]garment; ²¹ for she was saying ^[f]to herself, “If I only ^(D)touch His garment, I will ^[g]be saved from this.” ²² But Jesus turning and seeing her said, “Daughter, ^(E)take courage; ^(F)your faith has ^[h]saved you.” ^[i]At once the woman was ^[j]saved from her hemorrhage.

²³ And when Jesus came into the ^[k]official’s house, and saw ^(G)the flute-players and the crowd in noisy disorder, ²⁴ He was saying, “Leave; for the girl ^(H)has not died, but is asleep.” And they began laughing at Him. ²⁵ But ^(I)when the crowd had been sent out, coming in, He ^(J)took her by the hand, and the girl ^[l]got up. ^26 (K)And this news spread throughout all that land.

^22 (A)And one of ^(B)the synagogue ^[a]officials named Jairus *came up, and on seeing Him, *fell at His feet ²³ and *pleaded with Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death; please come, that by coming, ^(C)You may lay Your hands on her, so that she will ^[b]be saved and live.” ²⁴ And He went off with him; and a large crowd was following Him and pressing in on Him.

²⁵ And a woman—who had a hemorrhage for twelve years ²⁶ and had endured much at the hands of many physicians, and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grown worse— ²⁷ after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His garment. ²⁸ For she was saying, “If I just touch His garments, I will ^[c]be saved from this.” ²⁹ And immediately the flow of her blood was dried up; and she knew within her body that she had been healed of her ^(D)affliction. ³⁰ And immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that ^(E)the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around in the crowd and was saying, “Who touched My garments?” ³¹ And His disciples were saying to Him, “You see the crowd pressing in on You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’” ³² And He was looking around to see the woman who had done this. ³³ But the woman fearing and trembling, aware of what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. ³⁴ And He said to her, “Daughter, ^(F)your faith has ^[d]saved you; ^(G)go in peace and be healed of your ^(H)affliction.”

³⁵ While He was still speaking, they *came from the house of the ^(I)synagogue official, saying, “Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?” ³⁶ But Jesus, overhearing what had been spoken, *said to the ^(J)synagogue official, “^(K)Do not be afraid, only ^[e]believe.” ³⁷ And He allowed no one to accompany Him, except ^(L)Peter and James and John the brother of James. ³⁸ And they *came to the house of the ^(M)synagogue official; and He *saw a commotion, and people loudly crying and wailing. ³⁹ And entering in, He *said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and crying? The child has not died, but is asleep.” ⁴⁰ And they began laughing at Him. But putting them all out, He *took along the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and *entered the room where the child was. ⁴¹ And taking the child by the hand, He *said to her, “Talitha kum!” (which translated means, “Little girl, ^(N)I say to you, arise!”). ⁴² And immediately the little girl stood up and began to walk, for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were completely astounded. ⁴³ And He ^(O)gave them strict orders that no one should know about this, and He said that some food should be given to her to eat.

^41 (A)And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was ^[a](B)an official of the synagogue. And falling at Jesus’ feet, he began to plead with Him to come to his house, ⁴² for he had an ^[b]only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. But as He went, the crowds were pressing against Him.

⁴³ And a woman who had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, ⁴⁴ came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His garment, and immediately her hemorrhage stopped. ⁴⁵ And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me?” And while they were all denying it, Peter said, “^(C)Master, the crowds are surrounding and pressing in on You.” ⁴⁶ But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, for I knew that ^(D)power had gone out of Me.” ⁴⁷ And when the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came trembling. And falling down before Him, she declared in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched Him and how she had been immediately healed. ⁴⁸ And He said to her, “Daughter, ^(E)your faith has ^[c]saved you; ^(F)go in peace.”

⁴⁹ While He was still speaking, someone *came from the house of ^(G)the synagogue official, saying, “Your daughter has died; do not trouble the Teacher anymore.” ⁵⁰ But when Jesus heard this, He answered him, “^(H)Do not be afraid any longer; only believe, and she will be ^[d]saved.” ⁵¹ So when He came to the house, He did not allow anyone to enter with Him, except Peter and John and James, and the girl’s father and mother. ⁵² Now they were all crying and ^(I)lamenting for her, but He said, “Stop crying, for she has not died, but ^(J)is asleep.” ⁵³ And they began laughing at Him, knowing that she had died. ⁵⁴ He, however, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Child, arise!” ⁵⁵ And her spirit returned, and she stood up immediately. And He gave orders for something to be given her to eat. ⁵⁶ And her parents were astounded, but He ^(K)directed them to tell no one what had happened.
