Jezi ale nan vil kote l te grandi

(Mat 13:53-58; Lik 4:16-30)

Jezi kite zòn nan epi li retounen nan vil kote l te leve a. Disip li yo te ale avèk li tou. Prezans Jezi te bay moun yo anpil pwoblèm. Yo t ap di: “Se pa ti bòs chapant la? Se pa pitit Mari a? Se pa frè Jak, Joz, Jida ak Simon an? Apa tout sè l yo ansanm ak nou?”

Jezi di yo: “Moun tout kote fè lwanj pou pwofèt, eksepte moun nan pwòp vil kote pwofèt la te leve a, zanmi l ak moun nan fanmi li.” Jezi pa t ka fè mirak nan rejyon sa a, eksepte de twa moun malad li mete men sou yo epi li geri yo. Jezi te sezi poutèt moun yo te enkredil. Alò l al anseye nan lòt vilaj yo.

Jezi voye apot li yo al nan yon misyon

(Mat 10:1,5-15; Lik 9:1-6)

Jezi rele douz disip yo epi li kòmanse voye yo de pa de. Li ba yo otorite sou move lespri. Li di yo: “Pa pote anyen avèk nou pou vwayaj la, eksepte yon baton. Pa pran ni pen, ni valiz, ni lajan. Nou ka mete sandal nan pye n, men nou pa kapab mache ak rad an plis.” 10 Epi li di yo ankò: “Nan kelkeswa kay nou antre a, rete la jouktan nou kite zòn nan. 11 Si yon vil pa vle resevwa nou oubyen pa vle tande sa n ap di, vire do ba li, souke pousyè nan pye nou kòm yon avètisman pou yo.”

15 Gen lòt moun ki t ap di: “Se Eli.”

Lòt moun toujou t ap di: “Li se yon pwofèt tankou youn nan pwofèt lontan yo.”

16 Men lè Ewòd tande sa, li di: “Janbatis, nonm mwen te fè koupe tèt li a resisite.”

Men kijan Ewòd fè koupe tèt Janbatis

21 Men, pral gen yon bèl okazyon pou Ewodyas aji nan jou fèt nesans Ewòd la. Ewòd fè yon gwo fèt lamanjay pou tout gwo chèf ki nan gouvènman l lan, pou lame a ak pou tout moun enpòtan nan Galile.

Sòlda a ale nan prizon an, li koupe tèt Jan. 28 Yo mete l nan yon asyèt, yo pote l bay madmwazèl la. Epi demwazèl la pran l pote bay manman l. 29 Lè disip Jan yo tande sa k te rive a, yo vini pran kò a epi yo antere l nan yon tonm.

Jezi bay plis pase 5,000 moun manje

(Mat 14:13-21; Lik 9:10-17; Jan 6:1-14)

30 Disip yo retounen sot nan misyon an. Yo antoure Jezi epi yo di li tou sa yo te fè, tou sa yo te anseye. 31 Jezi di disip yo: “Vini avèk mwen nan yon kote trankil epi nou va fè yon poze.”

37 Men Jezi reponn yo: “Ba yo manje nou menm.” Yo di Jezi konsa: “Nou pa ka achte ase pen pou bay tout moun sa yo manje. Nou ta dwe achte pen pou 200 denye[b] pou n ta bay tout moun sa yo manje.”

38 Jezi di yo: “Ki kantite pen nou gen la a? Al gade!”

Lè yo tounen, yo vin di Jezi: “Nou gen senk pen ak de pwason.”

39 Alò Jezi di yo: “Fè tout moun chita an gwoup sou zèb la pou yo kapab manje.” 40 Yo chita yon fason nan lòd, te gen gwoup 100 moun ak gwoup 50 moun.

41 Jezi pran senk pen yo ak de pwason yo. Li leve je l gade syèl la, li di Bondye mèsi epi li kase pen yo. Li bay disip li yo pen pou yo distribye bay pèp la. Li pataje de pwason yo bay tout moun ki te la a yo.

42 Tout moun te manje vant deboutonnen. 43 Lè yo fin manje, yo ranmase douz panye plen moso pen ak moso pwason.

Jezi mache sou dlo

(Mat 14:22-33; Jan 6:16-21)

45 Tousuit apre sa, Jezi fè disip li yo monte nan yon bato pou yo travèse lak la. Men li menm, li te rete dèyè pou l te ka voye tout moun lakay yo. 46 Apre Jezi te fin voye foul la ale, li monte sou mòn nan pou l priye.

47 Lannuit vin tonbe, bato a te gentan nan mitan lak la epi Jezi te atè a poukont li. 48 Li wè disip yo te gen anpil difikilte pou yo mennen bato a, paske van an t ap vante nan sans kontrè. Ant twazè epi sizè nan maten konsa, Jezi mache sou dlo a pou li rive nan bato a. Li kontinye mache jouktan li te prèske depase bato a. 49 Lè disip yo wè l ap mache sou dlo a, lapèrèz te pran yo. Pa pè. 51 Monte Jezi monte nan bato a avèk yo, tout van an sispann. Se pa de sezi disip yo te sezi. 52 Yo pa t ka konprann vrè sans mirak senk pen an paske kè yo te fèmen.

Jezi geri anpil moun malad

(Mat 14:34-36)

53 Apre yo fin travèse lak la, Jezi ak disip li yo te debake Jenezarèt. Yo mare bato a. 54 Lè yo desann bato a, moun ki te la yo rekonèt Jezi. 55 Yo kouri gaye nouvèl la nan tout kay kote moun yo rete nan zòn nan. Tout kote Jezi ale, moun yo chaye malad yo kouche sou nat pote ba li. 56 Kèlkeswa kote Jezi ale, nan vilaj, nan vil, andeyò, pèp la mete moun malad yo sou tout plas piblik, epi yo te priye Jezi pou l ba yo pèmisyon pou yo touche ke manto li pou yo ka geri.

Lè sa a, Jezi di yo: -Yon pwofèt jwenn respè toupatou, esepte nan peyi l', lakay li ak nan fanmi li.

Li t'ap moutre moun yo anpil bagay.

¶ Lè sa a, Jezi rele douz disip li yo, li voye yo de pa de. Li ba yo pouvwa chase move lespri.

Li pase yo lòd sa a: -Pa pran anyen pou vwayaj la, esepte yon baton. Pa pote ni pen, ni sak. Pa mete lajan nan pòch nou.

Nou mèt mete sapat nan pye nou. Men, pa mete de rad sou nou.

10 Epi li di yo ankò: -Lè nou rive nan yon lavil, rete nan yon sèl kay, kay kote y'a resevwa nou an, jouk nou pati.

11 Men, si nou rive yon kote nou wè pesonn pa vle resevwa nou, pesonn pa vle koute nou, ale fè wout nou. Souke pousyè pye nou. Konsa, yo p'ap ka di nou pa t' avèti yo.

Yo te pase lwil sou anpil moun malad, yo te geri yo.

14 ¶ Wa Ewòd te tande pale sou Jezi, paske yo t'ap nonmen non l' toupatou. Gen moun ki t'ap di: -Se Jan Batis ki leve pami mò yo, se poutèt sa li kapab fè tout mirak sa yo.

15 Gen lòt ki t'ap di tou: -Se Eli. Epi gen lòt ankò ki t'ap di: -Se yon pwofèt tankou ansyen pwofèt yo.

16 Men, lè Ewòd tande sa, li di konsa: -Se Jan wi. Mwen te fè koupe tèt li. Men, li tounen vivan ankò.

21 Jou Ewodyad t'ap tann lan vin rive. Se te jou fèt Ewòd. Jou sa a, Ewòd te fè yon fèt pou tout zotobre nan gouvènman l' lan, ansanm ak gwo chèf nan lame a ak lòt grannèg nan peyi Galile a.

22 Pitit fi Ewodyad la antre nan sal resepsyon an: li danse, li danse.

Manman an reponn li: -Mande tèt Jan Batis.

25 Jenn fi a prese tounen kote wa a, li fè l' demann sa a: -Mwen ta vle pou ou ban mwen tèt Jan Batis koulye a, nan yon plato.

26 Kè wa a kase. Men, li pa t' kapab di li non ankò, akòz gwo sèman li te fin fè devan tout envite yo.

27 Menm lè a, li voye yon gad avèk lòd pou li al chache tèt Jan Batis pote vini.

28 Gad la koupe tèt Jan Batis nan prizon an; li pote l' vini nan yon plato. Li bay madmwazèl la tèt la; madmwazèl la menm pote l' bay manman li.

29 Lè patizan Jan yo tande sa, yo vin pran kò a, yo mete l' nan yon kavo.

30 ¶ Lè apòt yo tounen vin jwenn Jezi, yo rakonte l' tou sa yo te fè ak tou sa yo te di.

31 Lè sa a, te sitèlman gen moun ki t'ap ale vini, Jezi ak disip li yo pa t' menm gen tan pou yo manje. Se poutèt sa Jezi di disip li yo: -Ann al avè m' yon kote ki pa gen moun pou nou ka pran yon ti repo.

32 Epi, yo pati pou kont yo nan yon kannòt pou y' ale yon kote ki pa gen moun.

33 Men, anpil moun te wè lè y' ale, yo te rekonèt yo. Se konsa, yo kouri soti nan tout bouk yo, yo gen tan rive kote Jezi taprale avèk disip li yo anvan li.

34 Lè Jezi rive pou l' debake sot nan kannòt la, li wè tout bann moun yo. Kè l' fè l' mal pou yo, paske yo te tankou yon bann mouton san gadò. Lamenm, li tanmen esplike yo anpil bagay.

35 Lè li te kòmanse fè ta, disip yo pwoche bò kote Jezi, yo di li: -Li fin ta, wi. Pa gen moun rete bò isit la.

36 Voye moun yo ale non pou yo ka achte manje nan bouk yo.

37 Jezi reponn yo: -Poukisa nou pa ba yo manje nou menm pito? Disip yo mande li: -Ou ta vle poun al achte pen pou mil (1.000) goud poun bay tout moun sa yo manje? Jezi reponn yo:

38 -Konbe pen nou gen la a? Ale wè non. Lè yo fin jwenn konbe pen yo genyen an, yo di l' konsa: -Nou gen senk pen ak de pwason.

40 Moun yo menm chita pa ranje san moun, ranje senkant moun.

45 ¶ Touswit apre sa, Jezi fè disip li yo moute nan yon kannòt, li voye yo devan lòt bò lanmè a, nan direksyon Betsayda. Jezi menm te rete dèyè pou l' voye foul moun yo ale.

46 Apre li fin ranvwaye yo, li al lapriyè sou yon ti mòn.

47 Lè solèy fin kouche, kannòt la te nan mitan lanmè a toujou.

Vè twazè nan maten, Jezi pran mache sou dlo lanmè a pou li al jwenn disip yo. Li te prèt pou depase yo.

49 Lè yo wè l' ap mache sou dlo a, yo te kwè se te yon revenan. Yo pran rele.

50 Yo tout yo te wè li, yo tout te pè. Menm lè a, Jezi pale avèk yo, li di yo konsa: -Pran tèt nou non. Se mwen menm. Nou pa bezwen pè.

51 Li moute bò kote yo nan kannòt la, van an vin tonbe. Se pa ti sezi disip yo te sezi.

52 Yo pa t' konprann sans mirak pen an, paske lespri yo te bouche toujou.

53 Yo fin travèse lanmè a, yo fè tè toupre lavil Jenezarèt. Yo mare kannòt la atè.

54 Kou yo soti nan kannòt la, lamenm moun yo rekonèt Jezi.

55 Pèp la kouri nan tout peyi a; yo pote malad yo tou kouche sou nat ba li kote yo tande li te ye a.

A Prophet Without Honor(A)

Jesus left there and went to his hometown,(B) accompanied by his disciples. When the Sabbath came,(C) he began to teach in the synagogue,(D) and many who heard him were amazed.(E)

“Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph,[a] Judas and Simon?(F) Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.(G)

Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.”(H) He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on(I) a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve(J)

Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village.(K) Calling the Twelve to him,(L) he began to send them out two by two(M) and gave them authority over impure spirits.(N)

These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. 10 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet(O) as a testimony against them.”

12 They went out and preached that people should repent.(P) 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil(Q) and healed them.

John the Baptist Beheaded(R)(S)

14 King Herod heard about this, for Jesus’ name had become well known. Some were saying,[b] “John the Baptist(T) has been raised from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”

15 Others said, “He is Elijah.”(U)

And still others claimed, “He is a prophet,(V) like one of the prophets of long ago.”(W)

16 But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised from the dead!”

17 For Herod himself had given orders to have John arrested, and he had him bound and put in prison.(X) He did this because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, whom he had married. 18 For John had been saying to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”(Y) 19 So Herodias nursed a grudge against John and wanted to kill him. But she was not able to, 20 because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man.(Z) When Herod heard John, he was greatly puzzled[c]; yet he liked to listen to him.

21 Finally the opportune time came. On his birthday Herod gave a banquet(AA) for his high officials and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee.(AB) 22 When the daughter of[d] Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests.

The king said to the girl, “Ask me for anything you want, and I’ll give it to you.” 23 And he promised her with an oath, “Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”(AC)

24 She went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask for?”

“The head of John the Baptist,” she answered.

25 At once the girl hurried in to the king with the request: “I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”

26 The king was greatly distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he did not want to refuse her. 27 So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison, 28 and brought back his head on a platter. He presented it to the girl, and she gave it to her mother. 29 On hearing of this, John’s disciples came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand(AD)(AE)

30 The apostles(AF) gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.(AG) 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat,(AH) he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

32 So they went away by themselves in a boat(AI) to a solitary place. 33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd.(AJ) So he began teaching them many things.

35 By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. “This is a remote place,” they said, “and it’s already very late. 36 Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.”

37 But he answered, “You give them something to eat.”(AK)

They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages[e]! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?”

38 “How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.”

When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.”(AL)

39 Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.(AM) Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. 42 They all ate and were satisfied, 43 and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. 44 The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.

Jesus Walks on the Water(AN)(AO)

45 Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat(AP) and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida,(AQ) while he dismissed the crowd. 46 After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.(AR)

47 Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. 48 He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost.(AS) They cried out, 50 because they all saw him and were terrified.

Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”(AT) 51 Then he climbed into the boat(AU) with them, and the wind died down.(AV) They were completely amazed, 52 for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.(AW)

53 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there.(AX) 54 As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus. 55 They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak,(AY) and all who touched it were healed.
