⁴³ So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors,^(A) and they took possession^(B) of it and settled there.^(C)

¹⁵ All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring^[a] forever.^(A)

⁴ May he give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham,^(A) so that you may take possession of the land^(B) where you now reside as a foreigner,^(C) the land God gave to Abraham.”

²⁷ “I will send my terror^(A) ahead of you and throw into confusion^(B) every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run.^{(C) 28} I will send the hornet^(D) ahead of you to drive the Hivites, Canaanites and Hittites^(E) out of your way. ²⁹ But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals^(F) too numerous for you. ³⁰ Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession^(G) of the land.

³¹ “I will establish your borders from the Red Sea^[a] to the Mediterranean Sea,^[b] and from the desert to the Euphrates River.^(H) I will give into your hands the people who live in the land, and you will drive them out^(I) before you.

³¹ You are about to cross the Jordan to enter and take possession^(A) of the land the Lord your God is giving^(B) you. When you have taken it over and are living there,

⁸ So I have come down^(A) to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land,^(B) a land flowing with milk and honey^(C)—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites^(D) and Jebusites.^(E)

³ Stay in this land for a while,^(A) and I will be with you^(B) and will bless you.^(C) For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands^(D) and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.^{(E) 4} I will make your descendants^(F) as numerous as the stars in the sky^(G) and will give them all these lands,^(H) and through your offspring^[a] all nations on earth will be blessed,^[b](I)
