1 Ang(A) pangitain ni Isaias na anak ni Amoz, na kanyang nakita tungkol sa Juda at Jerusalem, sa mga araw nina Uzias, Jotam, Ahaz, at Hezekias, mga hari ng Juda.
Ang Sumbat sa Bayan ng Diyos
2 Dinggin mo, O langit, at pakinggan mo, O lupa,
sapagkat nagsalita ang Panginoon:
“Ako'y nag-alaga at nagpalaki ng mga anak,
ngunit sila'y naghimagsik laban sa akin.
3 Nakikilala ng baka ang kanyang panginoon,
at ng asno ang sabsaban ng kanyang panginoon
ngunit ang Israel ay hindi nakakakilala,
ang bayan ko ay hindi nakakaunawa.”
4 Ah, bansang makasalanan,
bayang punô ng kasamaan,
anak ng mga gumagawa ng kasamaan,
mga anak na gumagawa ng kabulukan!
Tinalikuran nila ang Panginoon,
hinamak nila ang Banal ng Israel,
sila'y lubusang naligaw.
5 Bakit kayo'y hahampasin pa,
na kayo'y patuloy sa paghihimagsik?
Ang buong ulo ay may sakit,
at ang buong puso ay nanghihina.
6 Mula sa talampakan ng paa hanggang sa ulo
ay walang kagalingan,
kundi mga sugat, mga galos,
at sariwang latay;
hindi pa naaampat, o natalian man,
o napalambot man ng langis.
7 Ang inyong lupain ay giba,
ang inyong mga lunsod ay tupok ng apoy;
ang inyong lupain ay nilalamon ng mga dayuhan sa inyong harapan;
iyon ay giba, tulad nang winasak ng mga dayuhan.
8 At ang anak na babae ng Zion ay naiwang parang kubol sa isang ubasan,
parang kubo sa taniman ng mga pipino,
parang lunsod na nakubkob.
9 Malibang(B) ang Panginoon ng mga hukbo
ay mag-iwan sa atin ng ilang nakaligtas
naging gaya sana tayo ng Sodoma,
at naging gaya sana tayo ng Gomorra.
10 Pakinggan ninyo ang salita ng Panginoon,
kayong mga pinuno ng Sodoma!
Makinig kayo sa kautusan ng ating Diyos,
kayong bayan ng Gomorra!
11 “Ano(C) sa akin ang dami ng inyong mga handog?
sabi ng Panginoon;
punô na ako sa mga lalaking tupa na handog na sinusunog,
at ang taba ng mga pinatabang baka;
at ako'y hindi nalulugod sa dugo ng mga toro,
mga kordero at ng mga kambing na lalaki.
12 “Nang kayo'y dumating upang tingnan ang aking mukha,
sinong humiling nito mula sa inyong kamay
na inyong yurakan ang aking mga bulwagan?
13 Huwag na kayong magdala ng mga walang kabuluhang alay;
ang insenso ay karumaldumal sa akin.
Ang bagong buwan, ang Sabbath, at ang pagtawag ng mga kapulungan—
hindi ko na matiis ang kasamaan at ang banal na pagpupulong.
14 Ang aking kaluluwa ay namumuhi sa inyong mga bagong buwan at sa inyong mga takdang kapistahan,
ang mga iyan ay pasanin para sa akin.
Ako'y pagod na sa pagpapasan ng mga iyan.
15 Kapag inyong iniunat ang inyong mga kamay,
ikukubli ko ang aking mga mata sa inyo;
kahit na marami ang inyong panalangin,
hindi ako makikinig;
ang inyong mga kamay ay punô ng dugo.
16 Maghugas kayo ng inyong sarili, maglinis kayo;
alisin ninyo ang kasamaan ng inyong mga gawa
sa aking paningin;
tumigil kayo sa paggawa ng kasamaan,
17 matuto kayong gumawa ng mabuti;
inyong hanapin ang katarungan,
inyong ituwid ang paniniil;
inyong ipagtanggol ang mga ulila,
ipaglaban ninyo ang babaing balo.
18 “Pumarito kayo ngayon, at tayo'y mangatuwiran sa isa't isa,
sabi ng Panginoon:
bagaman ang inyong mga kasalanan ay tulad ng matingkad na pula,
ang mga ito'y magiging mapuputi na parang niyebe;
bagaman ito'y mapulang-mapula,
ang mga ito'y magiging parang balahibo ng tupa.
19 Kung kayo'y sasang-ayon at magiging masunurin,
kayo'y kakain ng mabubuting bagay ng lupain;
20 ngunit kung kayo'y magsitanggi at maghimagsik,
kayo'y lalamunin ng tabak;
sapagkat ang bibig ng Panginoon ang nagsalita.”
Ang Makasalanang Lunsod
21 Paanong ang tapat na lunsod
ay naging upahang babae,[a]
siya na puspos ng katarungan!
Ang katuwiran ay tumatahan sa kanya,
ngunit ngayo'y mga mamamatay-tao.
22 Ang iyong pilak ay naging dumi,
ang iyong alak ay nahaluan ng tubig.
23 Ang iyong mga pinuno ay mga rebelde,
at kasama ng mga mapaghimagsik.
Bawat isa'y nagnanais ng mga suhol,
at naghahangad ng mga regalo.
Hindi nila ipinagtatanggol ang ulila,
o nakakarating man sa kanila ang usapin ng babaing balo.
24 Kaya't ang Panginoon, Diyos ng mga hukbo, ang Makapangyarihan ng Israel, ay nagsasabi,
“Ah, aking ibubuhos ang aking poot sa aking mga kaaway,
at maghihiganti ako sa aking mga kaaway.
25 Aking ibabaling ang aking kamay laban sa iyo,
at aking sasalaing lubos ang iyong dumi tulad ng lihiya,
at aalisin ko ang lahat ng iyong tingga.
26 At aking ibabalik ang iyong mga hukom na gaya ng una,
at ang iyong mga tagapayo na tulad ng pasimula.
Pagkatapos ay tatawagin kang lunsod ng katuwiran,
ang tapat na lunsod.”
27 Ang Zion ay tutubusin ng katarungan,
at ang kanyang mga nanunumbalik sa pamamagitan ng katuwiran.
28 Ngunit magkasamang lilipulin ang mga mapaghimagsik at mga makasalanan,
at silang tumalikod sa Panginoon ay magwawakas.
29 Ngunit ikahihiya mo ang mga punungkahoy
na inyong kinagigiliwan;
at kayo'y mapapahiya dahil sa inyong piniling mga halamanan.
30 Sapagkat kayo'y magiging parang kahoy[b]
na ang dahon ay nalalanta,
at parang halamanan na walang tubig.
31 Ang malakas ay magiging parang bagay na madaling masunog,
at ang kanyang gawa ay parang kislap,
at kapwa sila magliliyab
at walang papatay sa apoy.

1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
The Wickedness of Judah
2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth.
For the Lord has spoken:
I have nourished and brought up children,
and they have rebelled against Me;
3 the ox knows his owner,
and the donkey his master’s crib,
but Israel does not know;
My people do not consider.
4 Alas, sinful nation,
a people laden with iniquity,
a brood of evildoers,
children who deal corruptly!
They have forsaken the Lord,
they have provoked the Holy One of Israel to anger,
they are estranged and backward.
5 Why should you be beaten again,
that you revolt more and more?
The whole head is sick,
and the whole heart faint.
6 From the sole of the foot even to the head
there is no soundness in it.
Wounds, bruises,
and open sores;
they have not been closed,
nor bandaged, nor soothed with oil.
7 Your country is desolate,
your cities are burned with fire;
strangers devour your land
in your presence;
and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8 The daughter of Zion is left
like a shelter in a vineyard,
like a hut in a field of melons,
like a besieged city.
9 Unless the Lord of Hosts
had left to us a very small remnant,
we would have been as Sodom;
we would have been like Gomorrah.
10 Hear the word of the Lord,
you rulers of Sodom;
listen to the law of our God,
you people of Gomorrah:
11 For what purpose is the multitude
of your sacrifices to Me? says the Lord.
I am full of the burnt offerings of rams,
and the fat of fed animals.
I do not delight in the blood of bulls,
or of lambs, or of male goats.
12 When you come to appear before Me,
who has required this at your hand,
to trample My courts?
13 Bring no more vain offerings;
incense is an abomination to Me.
New Moons, Sabbaths, and convocations—
I cannot bear with evil assemblies.
14 My soul hates
your New Moons and your appointed feasts;
they are a burden to Me;
I am weary of bearing them.
15 When you reach out your hands,
I will hide My eyes from you;
even when you make many prayers,
I will not hear.
Your hands are full of blood.
16 Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
put away the evil from your deeds, from before My eyes.
Cease to do evil,
17 learn to do good; seek justice,
relieve the oppressed;
judge the fatherless,
plead for the widow.
18 Come now, and let us reason together,
says the Lord.
Though your sins be as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they be red like crimson,
they shall be as wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient,
you shall eat the good of the land;
20 but if you refuse and rebel,
you shall be devoured with the sword;
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.
The Degenerate City
21 How the faithful city
has become a prostitute!
She was full of justice;
righteousness lodged in her,
but now murderers.
22 Your silver has become dross,
your wine mixed with water.
23 Your princes are rebellious
and companions of thieves;
everyone loves a bribe
and follows after rewards.
They do not defend the fatherless,
nor does the cause of the widow come before them.
24 Therefore the Lord, the Lord of Hosts,
the Mighty One of Israel, says:
Ah, I will get relief from My adversaries,
and avenge Myself on My enemies.
25 And I will turn My hand against you,
thoroughly purge away your dross,
and take away all your impurities.
26 I will restore your judges as at the first,
and your counselors as at the beginning.
Afterward you shall be called
the city of righteousness,
a faithful town.
27 Zion shall be redeemed with justice
and her converts with righteousness.
28 But the destruction of the transgressors and sinners shall be together,
and those who forsake the Lord shall be consumed.
29 For they shall be ashamed of the oaks
which you have desired,
and you shall be humiliated for the gardens
that you have chosen.
30 For you shall be as an oak whose leaf fades,
and as a garden that has no water.
31 The strong shall be as tinder,
and his work like a spark;
they will both burn together,
and no one will quench them.

1 The vision(A) concerning Judah and Jerusalem(B) that Isaiah son of Amoz saw(C) during the reigns of Uzziah,(D) Jotham,(E) Ahaz(F) and Hezekiah,(G) kings of Judah.
A Rebellious Nation
2 Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth!(H)
For the Lord has spoken:(I)
“I reared children(J) and brought them up,
but they have rebelled(K) against me.
3 The ox knows(L) its master,
the donkey its owner’s manger,(M)
but Israel does not know,(N)
my people do not understand.(O)”
4 Woe to the sinful nation,
a people whose guilt is great,(P)
a brood of evildoers,(Q)
children given to corruption!(R)
They have forsaken(S) the Lord;
they have spurned the Holy One(T) of Israel
and turned their backs(U) on him.
5 Why should you be beaten(V) anymore?
Why do you persist(W) in rebellion?(X)
Your whole head is injured,
your whole heart(Y) afflicted.(Z)
6 From the sole of your foot to the top of your head(AA)
there is no soundness(AB)—
only wounds and welts(AC)
and open sores,
not cleansed or bandaged(AD)
or soothed with olive oil.(AE)
7 Your country is desolate,(AF)
your cities burned with fire;(AG)
your fields are being stripped by foreigners(AH)
right before you,
laid waste as when overthrown by strangers.(AI)
8 Daughter Zion(AJ) is left(AK)
like a shelter in a vineyard,
like a hut(AL) in a cucumber field,
like a city under siege.
9 Unless the Lord Almighty
had left us some survivors,(AM)
we would have become like Sodom,
we would have been like Gomorrah.(AN)
10 Hear the word of the Lord,(AO)
you rulers of Sodom;(AP)
listen to the instruction(AQ) of our God,
you people of Gomorrah!(AR)
11 “The multitude of your sacrifices—
what are they to me?” says the Lord.
“I have more than enough of burnt offerings,
of rams and the fat of fattened animals;(AS)
I have no pleasure(AT)
in the blood of bulls(AU) and lambs and goats.(AV)
12 When you come to appear before me,
who has asked this of you,(AW)
this trampling of my courts?
13 Stop bringing meaningless offerings!(AX)
Your incense(AY) is detestable(AZ) to me.
New Moons,(BA) Sabbaths and convocations(BB)—
I cannot bear your worthless assemblies.
14 Your New Moon(BC) feasts and your appointed festivals(BD)
I hate with all my being.(BE)
They have become a burden to me;(BF)
I am weary(BG) of bearing them.
15 When you spread out your hands(BH) in prayer,
I hide(BI) my eyes from you;
even when you offer many prayers,
I am not listening.(BJ)
16 Wash(BM) and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds out of my sight;(BN)
stop doing wrong.(BO)
17 Learn to do right;(BP) seek justice.(BQ)
Defend the oppressed.[a](BR)
Take up the cause of the fatherless;(BS)
plead the case of the widow.(BT)
18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,”(BU)
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;(BV)
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.(BW)
19 If you are willing and obedient,(BX)
you will eat the good things of the land;(BY)
20 but if you resist and rebel,(BZ)
you will be devoured by the sword.”(CA)
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.(CB)
21 See how the faithful city

She once was full of justice;
righteousness(CD) used to dwell in her—
but now murderers!(CE)
22 Your silver has become dross,(CF)
your choice wine is diluted with water.
23 Your rulers are rebels,(CG)
partners with thieves;(CH)
they all love bribes(CI)
and chase after gifts.
They do not defend the cause of the fatherless;
the widow’s case does not come before them.(CJ)
24 Therefore the Lord, the Lord Almighty,
the Mighty One(CK) of Israel, declares:
“Ah! I will vent my wrath on my foes
and avenge(CL) myself on my enemies.(CM)
25 I will turn my hand against you;[b](CN)
I will thoroughly purge(CO) away your dross(CP)
and remove all your impurities.(CQ)
26 I will restore your leaders as in days of old,(CR)
your rulers as at the beginning.
Afterward you will be called(CS)
the City of Righteousness,(CT)
the Faithful City.(CU)”
27 Zion will be delivered with justice,
her penitent(CV) ones with righteousness.(CW)
28 But rebels and sinners(CX) will both be broken,
and those who forsake(CY) the Lord will perish.(CZ)
29 “You will be ashamed(DA) because of the sacred oaks(DB)
in which you have delighted;
you will be disgraced because of the gardens(DC)
that you have chosen.
30 You will be like an oak with fading leaves,(DD)
like a garden without water.
31 The mighty man will become tinder
and his work a spark;
both will burn together,
with no one to quench the fire.(DE)”

4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
5 Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

9 Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
10 Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

24 Therefore saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:
26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
27 Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.
28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.
29 For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.
30 For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.
31 And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.
