⁷ But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant^(A) on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.^[a](B)

¹⁴ I will forsake^(A) the remnant^(B) of my inheritance and give them into the hands of enemies. They will be looted and plundered by all their enemies;

The Branch of the Lord

² In that day^(A) the Branch of the Lord^(B) will be beautiful^(C) and glorious, and the fruit^(D) of the land will be the pride and glory^(E) of the survivors^(F) in Israel.

¹² In that day the Lord will thresh^(A) from the flowing Euphrates to the Wadi of Egypt,^(B) and you, Israel, will be gathered^(C) up one by one.

⁴ It may be that the Lord your God will hear the words of the field commander, whom his master, the king of Assyria, has sent to ridicule^(A) the living God,^(B) and that he will rebuke him for the words the Lord your God has heard.^(C) Therefore pray^(D) for the remnant^(E) that still survives.”
