Nor will shepherds make their flocks lie down there.

22 [d]And hyenas will howl in their fortified towers
And jackals in their luxurious (D)palaces.
Her fateful time also [e]will soon come

24 Behold, Yahweh (A)empties the earth to destruction, eviscerates it, distorts its surface, and scatters its inhabitants.

From (C)generation to generation it will be laid waste;
(D)None will pass through it forever and ever.
11 But [a](E)pelican and hedgehog will possess it,
And [b]owl and raven will dwell in it;
And He will stretch over it the (F)line of utter formlessness
And the [c]plumb line of utter void.
12 Its nobles—there is (G)no one there
Whom they may proclaim king—
And all its princes will be (H)non-existent.
13 And thorns will come up in its (I)fortified towers,
Weeds and thistles in its fortified cities;
It will also be a haunt of (J)jackals
And an abode of ostriches.
14 And the desert (K)creatures will meet with the [d]wolves;
The [e](L)hairy goat also will cry to its kind;
Surely, the [f]night creature will obtain relief there
And will find itself a resting place.
15 The [g]owl will make its nest and find its escape there,
And it will hatch its eggs and gather them in its shade.
Surely, (M)the [h]falcons will be gathered there,
Every one with its kind.
