Sacrifice parfait et unique de Christ
9 La première alliance avait donc des ordonnances relatives au culte, et un sanctuaire terrestre. 2 En effet, un tabernacle fut construit. Dans la partie antérieure, appelée le lieu saint, étaient le chandelier, la table et les pains de proposition. 3 Derrière le second voile se trouvait la partie du tabernacle appelée le saint des saints[a], 4 renfermant l’encensoir d’or[b] pour les parfums, et l’arche de l’alliance, entièrement recouverte d’or. Il y avait dans l’arche un vase d’or contenant la manne, la verge d’Aaron, qui avait fleuri, et les tables de l’alliance. 5 Au-dessus de l’arche étaient les chérubins de la gloire, couvrant de leur ombre le propitiatoire. Ce n’est pas le moment de parler en détail là-dessus. 6 Or, ces choses étant ainsi disposées, les sacrificateurs qui font le service entrent en tout temps dans la première partie du tabernacle; 7 et dans la seconde le souverain sacrificateur seul entre une fois par an, non sans y porter du sang qu’il offre pour lui-même et pour les péchés du peuple. 8 Le Saint-Esprit montrait par là que le chemin du lieu très saint n’était pas encore ouvert, tant que le premier tabernacle subsistait. 9 C’est un symbole pour le temps présent; il signifie que les dons et sacrifices présentés ne peuvent rendre parfait[c] sous le rapport de la conscience celui qui rend ce culte; 10 ils étaient avec les aliments, les boissons et les diverses ablutions, des ordonnances charnelles imposées seulement jusqu’à une époque de réformation.
11 Mais Christ est venu comme souverain sacrificateur des biens à venir; il a traversé le tabernacle plus grand et plus parfait, qui n’est pas construit de main d’homme, c’est-à-dire qui n’est pas de cette création; 12 et il est entré une fois pour toutes dans le lieu très saint, non avec le sang des boucs et des veaux, mais avec son propre sang, ayant obtenu une rédemption éternelle. 13 Car si le sang des taureaux et des boucs, et la cendre[d] d’une vache répandue sur ceux qui sont souillés, sanctifient et procurent la pureté de la chair, 14 combien plus le sang de Christ, qui, par l’Esprit éternel, s’est offert lui-même sans tache à Dieu, purifiera-t-il votre conscience des œuvres mortes, afin que vous serviez le Dieu vivant!
15 Et c’est pour cela qu’il est le médiateur d’une nouvelle alliance, afin que, la mort étant intervenue pour le rachat des transgressions commises sous la première alliance, ceux qui ont été appelés reçoivent l’héritage éternel qui leur a été promis. 16 Car là où il y a un testament[e], il est nécessaire que la mort du testateur soit constatée. 17 Un testament, en effet, n’est valable qu’en cas de mort, puisqu’il n’a aucune force tant que le testateur vit. 18 Voilà pourquoi c’est avec du sang que même la première alliance fut inaugurée. 19 Moïse, après avoir prononcé devant tout le peuple tous les commandements de la loi, prit le sang des veaux et des boucs, avec de l’eau, de la laine écarlate, et de l’hysope; et il fit l’aspersion sur le livre lui-même et sur tout le peuple, en disant: 20 Ceci est le sang de l’alliance que Dieu a ordonnée pour vous[f]. 21 Il fit pareillement l’aspersion avec le sang sur le tabernacle et sur tous les ustensiles du culte. 22 Et presque tout, d’après la loi, est purifié avec du sang, et sans effusion de sang il n’y a pas de pardon.
23 Il était donc nécessaire, puisque les images des choses qui sont dans les cieux devaient être purifiées de cette manière, que les choses célestes elles-mêmes le soient par des sacrifices plus excellents que ceux-là. 24 Car Christ n’est pas entré dans un sanctuaire fait de main d’homme, en imitation du véritable, mais il est entré dans le ciel même, afin de comparaître maintenant pour nous devant la face de Dieu. 25 Et ce n’est pas pour s’offrir lui-même plusieurs fois qu’il y est entré, comme le souverain sacrificateur entre chaque année dans le sanctuaire mais pour offrir un autre sang que le sien[g]; 26 autrement, il aurait fallu qu’il ait souffert plusieurs fois depuis la création du monde; mais maintenant, à la fin des siècles, il a paru une seule fois pour effacer[h] le péché par son sacrifice. 27 Et comme il est réservé aux hommes de mourir une seule fois, après quoi vient le jugement, 28 de même Christ, qui s’est offert une seule fois pour porter les péchés de beaucoup[i] d’hommes, apparaîtra sans péché une seconde fois à ceux qui l’attendent pour leur salut.

9 Ngayon, ang unang tipan din ay nagkaroon ng mga palatuntunan ng pagsamba sa Dios, at ng kaniyang (A)santuario, ang santuario ng sanglibutang ito.
2 Sapagka't (B)inihanda ang isang tabernakulo, ang una, (C)na kinaroroonan ng (D)kandelero, at (E)ng dulang, at (F)ng mga tinapay na handog; na siyang tinatawag na Dakong Banal.
3 At sa likod ng ikalawang tabing (G)ay ang tabernakulo na tinatawag na Dakong Kabanalbanalan;
4 Na may isang (H)gintong dambana ng kamangyan at (I)kaban ng tipan, at ang paligid ay nakakalupkupan ng ginto, na siyang kinaroroonan ng sisidlang-ginto (J)na may lamang mana, at tungkod (K)ni Aaron na namulaklak, at (L)mga tapyas na bato ng tipan;

6 At sa ganitong pagkahanda ng mga bagay na ito, sa unang tabernakulo ay palaging nagsisipasok (O)ang mga saserdote, na tinutupad ang mga katungkulan;
7 Datapuwa't sa (P)ikalawa ay pumapasok na (Q)nagiisa ang dakilang saserdote, minsan sa isang taon, na hindi walang dalang dugo, na inihahandog na patungkol sa kaniyang sarili, at sa mga kamalian ng bayan:
8 Na ipinakikilala (R)ng Espiritu Santo, na hindi pa naihahayag (S)ang pagpasok sa dakong banal samantalang natatayo pa ang unang tabernakulo;
9 Na yao'y isang (T)talinghaga ng panahong kasalukuyan; ayon dito ay inihahandog ang mga kaloob at ang mga hain, tungkol sa budhi, (U)na hindi magpapasakdal sa sumasamba,
10 Palibhasa'y palatuntunan lamang na (V)ukol sa laman, na iniatang hanggang sa panahon ng pagbabago (gaya ng mga (W)pagkain, at mga inumin at sarisaring paglilinis).
11 Nguni't pagdating ni Cristo na dakilang saserdote (X)ng mabubuting bagay na darating, (Y)sa pamamagitan ng lalong malaki at lalong sakdal na tabernakulo, na hindi (Z)gawa ng mga kamay, sa makatuwid baga'y hindi sa paglalang na ito,
12 At hindi rin naman sa pamamagitan ng dugo ng mga kambing at ng mga bulong baka, kundi sa pamamagitan ng (AA)kaniyang sariling dugo, ay pumasok na (AB)minsan magpakailan man sa (AC)dakong banal, na kinamtan ang walang hanggang katubusan.
13 Sapagka't (AD)kung ang dugo ng mga kambing at ng mga baka, at (AE)ang abo ng dumalagang baka na ibinubudbod sa mga nadungisan, ay makapagiging banal sa ikalilinis ng laman:
14 Gaano pa kaya (AF)ang dugo ni Cristo, na sa pamamagitan ng Espiritu na walang hanggan ay inihandog ang kaniyang sarili na walang dungis sa Dios, ay (AG)maglilinis ng inyong budhi (AH)sa mga gawang patay upang magsipaglingkod sa Dios na buhay?
15 At dahil dito'y siya ang (AI)tagapamagitan ng isang (AJ)bagong tipan, upang sa pamamagitan ng isang kamatayan na ukol sa ikatutubos ng mga pagsalangsang na nasa ilalim ng unang tipan, (AK)ang mga tinawag ay magsitanggap ng pangako na manang walang hanggan.
16 Sapagka't kung saan mayroong tipan doo'y kinakailangan ang kamatayan ng gumawa niyaon.
17 Sapagka't (AL)ang isang tipan ay may kabuluhan kung mamatay ang gumawa: sa ibang paraa'y walang anomang kabuluhan samantalang nabubuhay ang gumawa.
18 Kaya't ang una mang tipan ay hindi itinalaga ng walang dugo.
19 Sapagka't (AM)nang salitain ni Moises ang bawa't utos sa buong bayan ayon sa kautusan, ay kumuha siya ng dugo ng (AN)mga bulong baka at ng mga kambing, (AO)na may tubig at balahibong mapula ng tupa at isopo, at winisikan ang aklat at gayon din ang boong bayan,
20 Na sinasabi, Ito (AP)ang dugo ng tipan na iniutos ng Dios tungkol sa inyo.
21 Gayon din ang tabernakulo at ang lahat ng mga kasangkapan sa pangangasiwa ay (AQ)pinagwiwisikan niya ng dugo sa gayon ding paraan.
22 At ayon sa kautusan, ay halos masasabi kong lahat ng mga bagay ay nililinis ng dugo, at (AR)maliban na sa pagkabuhos ng dugo ay walang kapatawaran.
23 Kinakailangan nga na (AS)ang mga anyo ng mga bagay sa sangkalangitan ay linisin ng mga ito; nguni't ang mga bagay ring ito sa sangkalangitan ay linisin ng lalong mabubuting handog kay sa rito.
24 Sapagka't hindi pumasok si Cristo sa dakong banal na ginawa ng mga kamay, na kahalintulad lamang (AT)ng tunay; kundi (AU)sa talagang langit, upang humarap ngayon sa harapan ng Dios (AV)dahil sa atin:
25 At siya'y hindi rin naman kailangang ihandog na madalas pa ang kaniyang sarili, na (AW)gaya ng dakilang saserdote na pumapasok sa dakong banal (AX)taon-taon na may dalang dugo na hindi niya sarili;
26 Sa ibang paraan ay kailangan na siya'y magbatang madalas mula nang itatag ang sanglibutan: datapuwa't ngayon ay (AY)minsan siya'y nahayag (AZ)sa katapusan ng mga panahon (BA)upang alisin ang kasalanan sa pamamagitan ng pagkahandog ng kaniyang sarili.
27 At kung paanong itinakda sa mga tao ang mamatay na minsan, at pagkatapos nito ay ang paghuhukom;
28 Ay gayon din naman si Cristo, na inihandog na minsan (BB)upang dalhin ang mga kasalanan (BC)ng marami, sa ikalawa'y pakikita na hiwalay sa kasalanan, sa ikaliligtas (BD)ng mga nagsisipaghintay sa kaniya.

Worship in the Earthly Tabernacle
9 Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary.(A) 2 A tabernacle(B) was set up. In its first room were the lampstand(C) and the table(D) with its consecrated bread;(E) this was called the Holy Place.(F) 3 Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place,(G) 4 which had the golden altar of incense(H) and the gold-covered ark of the covenant.(I) This ark contained the gold jar of manna,(J) Aaron’s staff that had budded,(K) and the stone tablets of the covenant.(L) 5 Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory,(M) overshadowing the atonement cover.(N) But we cannot discuss these things in detail now.
6 When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly(O) into the outer room to carry on their ministry. 7 But only the high priest entered(P) the inner room,(Q) and that only once a year,(R) and never without blood,(S) which he offered for himself(T) and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.(U) 8 The Holy Spirit was showing(V) by this that the way(W) into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still functioning. 9 This is an illustration(X) for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered(Y) were not able to clear the conscience(Z) of the worshiper. 10 They are only a matter of food(AA) and drink(AB) and various ceremonial washings(AC)—external regulations(AD) applying until the time of the new order.
The Blood of Christ
11 But when Christ came as high priest(AE) of the good things that are now already here,[a](AF) he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle(AG) that is not made with human hands,(AH) that is to say, is not a part of this creation. 12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves;(AI) but he entered the Most Holy Place(AJ) once for all(AK) by his own blood,(AL) thus obtaining[b] eternal redemption. 13 The blood of goats and bulls(AM) and the ashes of a heifer(AN) sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit(AO) offered himself(AP) unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences(AQ) from acts that lead to death,[c](AR) so that we may serve the living God!(AS)
15 For this reason Christ is the mediator(AT) of a new covenant,(AU) that those who are called(AV) may receive the promised(AW) eternal inheritance(AX)—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.(AY)
16 In the case of a will,[d] it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, 17 because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living. 18 This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood.(AZ) 19 When Moses had proclaimed(BA) every command of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves,(BB) together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people.(BC) 20 He said, “This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.”[e](BD) 21 In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies. 22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood,(BE) and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.(BF)
23 It was necessary, then, for the copies(BG) of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one;(BH) he entered heaven itself,(BI) now to appear for us in God’s presence.(BJ) 25 Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place(BK) every year with blood that is not his own.(BL) 26 Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world.(BM) But he has appeared(BN) once for all(BO) at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.(BP) 27 Just as people are destined to die once,(BQ) and after that to face judgment,(BR) 28 so Christ was sacrificed once(BS) to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time,(BT) not to bear sin,(BU) but to bring salvation(BV) to those who are waiting for him.(BW)

The Earthly Sanctuary(A)
9 Then indeed, even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service and (B)the earthly sanctuary. 2 For a tabernacle was prepared: the first part, in which was the lampstand, the table, and the showbread, which is called the [a]sanctuary; 3 (C)and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All, 4 which had the (D)golden censer and (E)the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which were (F)the golden pot that had the manna, (G)Aaron’s rod that budded, and (H)the tablets of the covenant; 5 and (I)above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.
Limitations of the Earthly Service
6 Now when these things had been thus prepared, (J)the priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle, performing the services. 7 But into the second part the high priest went alone (K)once a year, not without blood, which he offered for (L)himself and for the people’s sins committed in ignorance; 8 the Holy Spirit indicating this, that (M)the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing. 9 It was symbolic for the present time in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered (N)which cannot make him who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience— 10 concerned only with (O)foods and drinks, (P)various [b]washings, (Q)and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.
The Heavenly Sanctuary
11 But Christ came as High Priest of (R)the good things [c]to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 Not (S)with the blood of goats and calves, but (T)with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place (U)once for all, (V)having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if (W)the blood of bulls and goats and (X)the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, [d]sanctifies for the [e]purifying of the flesh, 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without [f]spot to God, (Y)cleanse your conscience from (Z)dead works (AA)to serve the living God? 15 And for this reason (AB)He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that (AC)those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
The Mediator’s Death Necessary
16 For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For (AD)a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives. 18 (AE)Therefore not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood. 19 For when Moses had spoken every [g]precept to all the people according to the law, (AF)he took the blood of calves and goats, (AG)with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20 saying, (AH)“This is the (AI)blood of the covenant which God has commanded you.” 21 Then likewise (AJ)he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry. 22 And according to the law almost all things are [h]purified with blood, and (AK)without shedding of blood there is no [i]remission.
Greatness of Christ’s Sacrifice
23 Therefore it was necessary that (AL)the copies of the things in the heavens should be [j]purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For (AM)Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are [k]copies of (AN)the true, but into heaven itself, now (AO)to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 not that He should offer Himself often, as (AP)the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another— 26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 (AQ)And as it is appointed for men to die once, (AR)but after this the judgment, 28 so (AS)Christ was (AT)offered once to bear the sins (AU)of many. To those who (AV)eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
