⁷ Then Pharaoh's servants said to him, “How long shall this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve the Lord their God. Do you not yet understand that Egypt is ruined?”

²⁶ And I find something more ^(A)bitter than death: ^(B)the woman whose heart is ^(C)snares and nets, and whose hands are fetters. He who pleases God escapes her, but ^(D)the sinner is taken by her.

²¹ Saul thought, “Let me give her to him, that she may ^(A)be a snare for him ^(B)and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him.” Therefore Saul said to David a second time,^{[a] (C)}“You shall now be my son-in-law.”

¹³ know for certain that ^(A)the Lord your God will no longer drive out these nations before you, ^(B)but they shall be a snare and a trap for you, a whip on your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good ground that the Lord your God has given you.

³³ They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods, ^(A)it will surely be a snare to you.”

³⁵ I say this for your own benefit, ^(A)not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.
