he has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ,(A) 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.(B) 11 In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance,[a] having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will,(C) 12 so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit;(D) 14 this[b] is the pledge of our inheritance toward redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of his glory.(E)

he[a] made known to us the mystery(A) of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed(B) in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment(C)—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.(D)

11 In him we were also chosen,[b] having been predestined(E) according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose(F) of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.(G) 13 And you also were included in Christ(H) when you heard the message of truth,(I) the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal,(J) the promised Holy Spirit,(K) 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance(L) until the redemption(M) of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.(N)

and how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote above in a few words,[a](A) a reading of which will enable you to perceive my understanding of the mystery of Christ.(B) In former generations this mystery[b] was not made known to humankind, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit:(C) that is, the gentiles have become fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.(D)

Of this gospel I have become a servant according to the gift of God’s grace that was given me by the working of his power. Although I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given to me to bring to the gentiles the news of the boundless riches of Christ(E) and to make everyone see[c] what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in[d] God, who created all things,(F) 10 so that through the church the wisdom of God in its rich variety might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.[e](G) 11 This was in accordance with the eternal purpose that he has carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have access in boldness and confidence through faith in him.[f](H)

that is, the mystery(A) made known to me by revelation,(B) as I have already written briefly. In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight(C) into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.(D) This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs(E) together with Israel, members together of one body,(F) and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.(G)

I became a servant of this gospel(H) by the gift of God’s grace given me(I) through the working of his power.(J) Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people,(K) this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles(L) the boundless riches of Christ,(M) and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery,(N) which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God(O) should be made known(P) to the rulers and authorities(Q) in the heavenly realms,(R) 11 according to his eternal purpose(S) that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God(T) with freedom and confidence.(U)
