20 When everything was quiet, Paul called the disciples. He talked to them so they would not be afraid. Then he said goodbye and left. He went to Macedonia.
2 He went through that country and talked to the people. He helped them to believe more strongly. Then he went to Greece.
3 He stayed there for three months. When he was ready to go to Syria by boat, he heard that the Jewish leaders were planning to catch him. So he said, `I will go back through Macedonia.'
4 Some men went with him as far as Asia Minor. They were Sopater from Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius from Derbe, and Timothy, and also Tychicus and Trophimus from Asia Minor.
5 These went on ahead and waited for us at Troas.
6 After the days of the Passover Feast, we left Philippi by boat. Five days later we met them in Troas. We stayed there for seven days.
7-8 n the first day of the week the disciples met together to break bread. Paul was ready to leave the next day. He talked a long time to the people at the meeting until long into the night. They were gathered in an upstairs room with many lights.
9 A young man named Eutychus sat in the window. He became very sleepy. When Paul kept talking so long, Eutychus was very deep in sleep and fell down from the third floor. When the people picked him up he was dead.
10 Paul went down stairs. He lay on him and put his arms around him. `Do not fear,' he said. `He is alive.'
11 Then Paul went upstairs again. He broke bread and ate some food. He talked for a long time, until daybreak. After that, he left.
12 The people took the young man. They were very glad because he was alive.
13 We went by boat to the town of Assos. We were going to meet Paul there and take him on the boat. He told us to do that because he wanted to walk.
14 We met him at Assos, took him on the boat, and went to Mitylene.
15 Then we went by boat the next day and came to Chios. The next day we passed the town of Samos. We reached Miletus on the third day.
16 Paul decided not to stop at Ephesus. He did not want to spend time in Asia Minor. He kept going as fast as he could, because he hoped to be at the feast in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.
17 He sent a message from Miletus to Ephesus to call the leaders of the church to come to him.
18 When they came, he said, `You know how I have lived all the time that I have been with you. I lived that way from the first day I came into Asia.
19 You know how I have served the Lord without being proud. And I have even cried for you. I served the Lord when I had troubles and when the leaders of the Jews tried to catch me.
20 I have not feared to tell you everything that would help you. I have taught you in meetings and in your homes.
21 I have told both the Jews and the Greeks to stop doing wrong things. I have told them to believe in our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 `And now I feel in my spirit that I must go to Jerusalem. I do not know what will happen to me there.
23 But in every city the Holy Spirit tells me I will be put in prison. I will have much trouble.
24 But none of these things trouble me. I do not try to save my life. All I want is to finish what I must do with joy. The work which the Lord Jesus gave me is to tell the good news that God is kind.
25 I know that you all will never see me again. I have told you about God's kingdom.
26 So I tell you today that if any one is lost, it is not my fault.
27 I have not feared to tell you all that God wants you to know.
28 `The Holy Spirit has made you leaders over his people. Watch yourselves. Like one who takes care of his sheep, so you must take care of the church people. They are the Lord's people. He gave his blood for them.
29 I know this, that there are people as bad as wild animals. After I leave you, they will come to you. They will trouble God's people.
30 Also, some men will come from among you. They will teach things that are not true. They want people to follow them.
31 So then, watch and remember this. For three years, through the night and in the day, I told every one of you to be careful. I even cried as I told you.
32 `And now, my brothers, I give you to God. I leave with you his word which brings blessing. That word is able to make you strong. It will give you your share in the good things of God promised by him. He gives these good things to people who are pure and holy.
33 I did not want anyone to give me money or clothes.
34 You yourselves know that I worked with my own hands to pay for the things that I and my friends needed.
35 I have always shown you that you must work hard, as I have. You must help those who cannot work. By so doing you are remembering the words of the Lord Jesus. He said, "It makes you more happy to give something than to get something." '
36 When Paul had said this, he kneeled down and talked to God with them all.
37 They all cried much. They put their arms around his neck and kissed him.
38 They were sad most of all because he had said they would not see him again. And they went with him to the boat.

20 Като утихна вълнението, Павел повика учениците и, след като им даде наставления, опрости се с тях и излезе да иде за Македония;
2 а като премина ония места и даде много наставления на вярващите, дойде в Елада;
3 там престоя три месеца. И понеже иудеите направиха против него заговор, когато щеше да отплува за Сирия, той взе решение да се върне през Македония.
4 (A)Придружаваха го до Асия Сосипатър Пиров, бериец, а от солунчани Аристарх и Секунд, Гаий от Дервия и Тимотей, и асийците Тихик и Трофим.
5 Тези отидоха напред и ни чакаха в Троада.
6 А ние отплувахме от Филипи след дните на Безквасниците и в пет дни стигнахме в Троада при тях, дето прекарахме седем дни.
7 (B)И в първия ден на седмицата, когато учениците се бяха събрали да преломят хляб, Павел, понеже на другия ден щеше да тръгне, беседваше с тях и продължи речта си до полунощ.
8 В горницата, дето се бяхме събрали, имаше доста свещи.
9 А един момък, на име Евтих, седнал на един прозорец, бе налегнат от дълбок сън и, докато Павел тъй дълго беседваше, клюмна в съня си и падна от третия кат долу, и го дигнаха мъртъв.
10 Павел като слезе, спусна се върху му, прегърна го и рече: не се смущавайте, защото душата му си е в него.
11 А като възлезе горе и преломи хляб, вкуси и говори дълго, дори дозори, и след това отпътува.
12 В туй време доведоха момчето живо, и немалко се утешиха.
13 Ние отидохме по-напред на кораба и отплувахме в Асос, отдето щяхме да вземем Павла; защото той, имайки намерение да иде сам пешком, тъй ни бе поръчал.
14 И когато се срещна с нас в Асос, взехме го и дойдохме в Митилин.
15 А като отплувахме оттам, спряхме се на другия ден срещу Хиос, а на следния стигнахме в Самос и, като престояхме в Трогилия, дойдохме на другия ден в Милит,
16 защото Павел реши да отмине Ефес, за да се не забави в Асия, понеже бързаше, ако му бъде възможно, да се намери в Иерусалим за деня Петдесетница.
17 А от Милит прати в Ефес, та повика презвитерите църковни.
18 (C)И когато те дойдоха при него, рече им: вие знаете, как от първия ден, когато стъпих в Асия, всичкото време бях с вас,
19 служейки Господу с голямо смирение и много сълзи и сред изпитни, които ми идеха от злите замисли на иудеите:
20 как не пропуснах нищо полезно да ви го не обадя и да ви не поуча пред народа и по къщите,
21 (D)като проповядвах на иудеи и на елини покаяние пред Бога и вяра в Господа нашего Иисуса Христа.
22 И ето сега, свързан от Духа, аз отивам в Иерусалим, без да зная, какво ще ми се случи там –
23 (E)освен онова, което Дух Светий свидетелствува по всички градове, казвайки, че ме чакат окови и скърби.
24 (F)Но мен не ме е за нищо грижа, нито ми е свиден животът, стига само да свърша с радост попрището си и службата, която приех от Господа Иисуса, да проповядвам Евангелието на Божията благодат.
25 И сега, ето, аз зная, че няма вече да видите лицето ми всички вие, между които ходих и проповядвах царството Божие.
26 (G)Затова свидетелствувам ви в днешния ден, че съм чист от кръвта на всички,

30 па и от вас самите ще се дигнат мъже, които ще говорят изопачено, за да увличат учениците след себе си.
31 (K)Затова бъдете будни и помнете, че три години денем и нощем не преставах със сълзи да поучавам всекиго едного от вас.
32 (L)А сега ви предавам, братя, на Бога и на словото на благодатта Му; Той може да ви назидае по-добре и да ви даде наследие между всички осветени.
33 (M)От никого не поисках ни сребро, ни злато, нито дреха;
34 (N)сами знаете, че за моите нужди и за нуждите на ония, които бяха с мене, ми послужиха тия мои ръце.

20 After the uproar had ceased, Paul called the disciples to himself, embraced them, and (A)departed to go to Macedonia. 2 Now when he had gone over that region and encouraged them with many words, he came to (B)Greece 3 and stayed three months. And (C)when the Jews plotted against him as he was about to sail to Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia. 4 And Sopater of Berea accompanied him to Asia—also (D)Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians, and (E)Gaius of Derbe, and (F)Timothy, and (G)Tychicus and (H)Trophimus of Asia. 5 These men, going ahead, waited for us at (I)Troas. 6 But we sailed away from Philippi after (J)the Days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days joined them (K)at Troas, where we stayed seven days.
Ministering at Troas
7 Now on (L)the first day of the week, when the disciples came together (M)to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight. 8 There were many lamps (N)in the upper room where [a]they were gathered together. 9 And in a window sat a certain young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep. He was overcome by sleep; and as Paul continued speaking, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. 10 But Paul went down, (O)fell on him, and embracing him said, (P)“Do not trouble yourselves, for his life is in him.” 11 Now when he had come up, had broken bread and eaten, and talked a long while, even till daybreak, he departed. 12 And they brought the young man in alive, and they were not a little comforted.
From Troas to Miletus
13 Then we went ahead to the ship and sailed to Assos, there intending to take Paul on board; for so he had [b]given orders, intending himself to go on foot. 14 And when he met us at Assos, we took him on board and came to Mitylene. 15 We sailed from there, and the next day came opposite Chios. The following day we arrived at Samos and stayed at Trogyllium. The next day we came to Miletus. 16 For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he would not have to spend time in Asia; for (Q)he was hurrying (R)to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on (S)the Day of Pentecost.
The Ephesian Elders Exhorted
17 From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called for the elders of the church. 18 And when they had come to him, he said to them: “You know, (T)from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you, 19 serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me (U)by the plotting of the Jews; 20 how (V)I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, 21 (W)testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, (X)repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. 22 And see, now (Y)I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, 23 except that (Z)the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. 24 [c]But (AA)none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, (AB)so that I may finish my [d]race with joy, (AC)and the ministry (AD)which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
25 “And indeed, now I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will see my face no more. 26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am (AE)innocent[e] of the blood of all men. 27 For I have not [f]shunned to declare to you (AF)the whole counsel of God. 28 (AG)Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit (AH)has made you overseers, to shepherd the church [g]of God (AI)which He purchased (AJ)with His own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departure (AK)savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also (AL)from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking [h]perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. 31 Therefore watch, and remember that (AM)for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.
32 “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and (AN)to the word of His grace, which is able (AO)to build you up and give you (AP)an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. 33 I have coveted no one’s silver or gold or apparel. 34 [i]Yes, you yourselves know (AQ)that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me. 35 I have shown you in every way, (AR)by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
36 And when he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all. 37 Then they all (AS)wept [j]freely, and (AT)fell on Paul’s neck and kissed him, 38 sorrowing most of all for the words which he spoke, that they would see his face no more. And they accompanied him to the ship.
