² And after Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and ^(A)debate with them, Paul and Barnabas and ^(B)some of the others were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to ^(C)the apostles and the elders about this question.

The Council's Letter to Gentile Believers

²² Then it seemed good to ^(A)the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They sent Judas called ^(B)Barsabbas, and ^(C)Silas, leading men among ^(D)the brothers, ²³ with the following letter: ^(E)“The brothers, both ^(F)the apostles and the elders, to the brothers^[a] who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, ^(G)greetings.

Paul Accepted by the Apostles

2 Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me. ² I went up because of a revelation and set before them (though privately before those ^(A)who seemed influential) the gospel that ^(B)I proclaim among the Gentiles, ^(C)in order to make sure I was not running or had not ^(D)run in vain.

^6 (A)The ^(B)apostles and the elders were gathered together to consider this matter. ⁷ And after there had been much ^(C)debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, ^(D)that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear ^(E)the word of ^(F)the gospel and believe.

⁵ to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that ^(A)the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

No Other Gospel

⁶ I am astonished that you are ^(A)so quickly deserting ^(B)him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to ^(C)a different gospel— ^7 (D)not that there is another one, but ^(E)there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. ⁸ But even if we or ^(F)an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, ^(G)let him be accursed. ⁹ As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, ^(H)let him be accursed.

¹⁰ For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying ^(I)to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a ^(J)servant^[a] of Christ.

⁵ Indeed, I consider that ^(A)I am not in the least inferior to these super-apostles.

^4 (A)When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and ^(B)the apostles and the elders, and ^(C)they declared all that God had done with them.

^30 (A)And they did so, sending it to ^(B)the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
