^9 (A)Resist him, ^(B)firm in your faith, knowing that ^(C)the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

⁷ Submit yourselves therefore to God. ^(A)Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

^22 (A)strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them ^(B)to continue in ^(C)the faith, and saying that ^(D)through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.

²¹ For ^(A)to this you have been called, ^(B)because Christ also suffered for you, ^(C)leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.

^11 (A)Put on ^(B)the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against ^(C)the schemes of the devil. ¹² For ^(D)we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against ^(E)the rulers, against the authorities, against ^(F)the cosmic powers over ^(G)this present darkness, against ^(H)the spiritual forces of evil ^(I)in the heavenly places. ¹³ Therefore ^(J)take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in ^(K)the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

¹³ No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. ^(A)God is faithful, and ^(B)he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

¹² Indeed, all who desire to ^(A)live a godly life in Christ Jesus ^(B)will be persecuted,

¹⁶ In all circumstances take up ^(A)the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all ^(B)the flaming darts of ^(C)the evil one;

^14 (A)But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. ^(B)Have no fear of them, ^(C)nor be troubled,
