⁵ who by God's power are being guarded ^(A)through faith for a salvation ^(B)ready to be revealed in the last time.

⁶ And I am sure of this, that he who began ^(A)a good work in you ^(B)will bring it to completion at ^(C)the day of Jesus Christ.

⁸ For ^(A)by grace you have been saved ^(B)through faith. And this is ^(C)not your own doing; ^(D)it is the gift of God,

God's Everlasting Love

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? ^(A)If God is for us, who can be^[a] against us? ^32 (B)He who did not spare his own Son but ^(C)gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? ³³ Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? ^(D)It is God who justifies. ^34 (E)Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—^(F)who is at the right hand of God, ^(G)who indeed is interceding for us.^{[b] 35} Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ As it is written,

³⁷ No, in all these things we are more than ^(J)conquerors through ^(K)him who loved us. ³⁸ For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Stand Firm

¹³ But ^(A)we ought always to give thanks to God for you, ^(B)brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you ^(C)as the firstfruits^{[a] (D)}to be saved, ^(E)through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. ¹⁴ To this he called you through ^(F)our gospel, ^(G)so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Called to Be Holy

¹³ Therefore, ^(A)preparing your minds for action,^[a] and ^(B)being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

^28 (A)I give them eternal life, and ^(B)they will never perish, and ^(C)no one will snatch them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, ^(D)who has given them to me,^{[a] (E)}is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of ^(F)the Father's hand. ^30 (G)I and the Father are one.”

²⁸ so Christ, having been offered once ^(A)to bear the sins of ^(B)many, will appear ^(C)a second time, ^(D)not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly ^(E)waiting for him.
