Jezi ale nan vil kote l te grandi

(Mat 13:53-58; Lik 4:16-30)

Jezi kite zòn nan epi li retounen nan vil kote l te leve a. Disip li yo te ale avèk li tou. Prezans Jezi te bay moun yo anpil pwoblèm. Yo t ap di: “Se pa ti bòs chapant la? Se pa pitit Mari a? Se pa frè Jak, Joz, Jida ak Simon an? Apa tout sè l yo ansanm ak nou?”

Jezi di yo: “Moun tout kote fè lwanj pou pwofèt, eksepte moun nan pwòp vil kote pwofèt la te leve a, zanmi l ak moun nan fanmi li.” Jezi pa t ka fè mirak nan rejyon sa a, eksepte de twa moun malad li mete men sou yo epi li geri yo. Jezi te sezi poutèt moun yo te enkredil. Alò l al anseye nan lòt vilaj yo.

Jezi voye apot li yo al nan yon misyon

(Mat 10:1, 5-15; Lik 9:1-6)

Jezi rele douz disip yo epi li kòmanse voye yo de pa de. Li ba yo otorite sou move lespri. Li di yo: “Pa pote anyen avèk nou pou vwayaj la, eksepte yon baton. Pa pran ni pen, ni valiz, ni lajan. Nou ka mete sandal nan pye n, men nou pa kapab mache ak rad an plis.” 10 Epi li di yo ankò: “Nan kelkeswa kay nou antre a, rete la jouktan nou kite zòn nan. 11 Si yon vil pa vle resevwa nou oubyen pa vle tande sa n ap di, vire do ba li, souke pousyè nan pye nou kòm yon avètisman pou yo.”

15 Gen lòt moun ki t ap di: “Se Eli.”

Lòt moun toujou t ap di: “Li se yon pwofèt tankou youn nan pwofèt lontan yo.”

16 Men lè Ewòd tande sa, li di: “Janbatis, nonm mwen te fè koupe tèt li a resisite.”

Men kijan Ewòd fè koupe tèt Janbatis

21 Men, pral gen yon bèl okazyon pou Ewodyas aji nan jou fèt nesans Ewòd la. Ewòd fè yon gwo fèt lamanjay pou tout gwo chèf ki nan gouvènman l lan, pou lame a ak pou tout moun enpòtan nan Galile.

Sòlda a ale nan prizon an, li koupe tèt Jan. 28 Yo mete l nan yon asyèt, yo pote l bay madmwazèl la. Epi demwazèl la pran l pote bay manman l. 29 Lè disip Jan yo tande sa k te rive a, yo vini pran kò a epi yo antere l nan yon tonm.

Jezi bay plis pase 5,000 moun manje

(Mat 14:13-21; Lik 9:10-17; Jan 6:1-14)

30 Disip yo retounen sot nan misyon an. Yo antoure Jezi epi yo di li tou sa yo te fè, tou sa yo te anseye. 31 Jezi di disip yo: “Vini avèk mwen nan yon kote trankil epi nou va fè yon poze.”

37 Men Jezi reponn yo: “Ba yo manje nou menm.” Yo di Jezi konsa: “Nou pa ka achte ase pen pou bay tout moun sa yo manje. Nou ta dwe achte pen pou 200 denye[b] pou n ta bay tout moun sa yo manje.”

38 Jezi di yo: “Ki kantite pen nou gen la a? Al gade!”

Lè yo tounen, yo vin di Jezi: “Nou gen senk pen ak de pwason.”

39 Alò Jezi di yo: “Fè tout moun chita an gwoup sou zèb la pou yo kapab manje.” 40 Yo chita yon fason nan lòd, te gen gwoup 100 moun ak gwoup 50 moun.

41 Jezi pran senk pen yo ak de pwason yo. Li leve je l gade syèl la, li di Bondye mèsi epi li kase pen yo. Li bay disip li yo pen pou yo distribye bay pèp la. Li pataje de pwason yo bay tout moun ki te la a yo.

42 Tout moun te manje vant deboutonnen. 43 Lè yo fin manje, yo ranmase douz panye plen moso pen ak moso pwason.

Jezi mache sou dlo

(Mat 14:22-33; Jan 6:16-21)

45 Tousuit apre sa, Jezi fè disip li yo monte nan yon bato pou yo travèse lak la. Men li menm, li te rete dèyè pou l te ka voye tout moun lakay yo. 46 Apre Jezi te fin voye foul la ale, li monte sou mòn nan pou l priye.

47 Lannuit vin tonbe, bato a te gentan nan mitan lak la epi Jezi te atè a poukont li. 48 Li wè disip yo te gen anpil difikilte pou yo mennen bato a, paske van an t ap vante nan sans kontrè. Ant twazè epi sizè nan maten konsa, Jezi mache sou dlo a pou li rive nan bato a. Li kontinye mache jouktan li te prèske depase bato a. 49 Lè disip yo wè l ap mache sou dlo a, lapèrèz te pran yo. Pa pè. 51 Monte Jezi monte nan bato a avèk yo, tout van an sispann. Se pa de sezi disip yo te sezi. 52 Yo pa t ka konprann vrè sans mirak senk pen an paske kè yo te fèmen.

Jezi geri anpil moun malad

(Mat 14:34-36)

53 Apre yo fin travèse lak la, Jezi ak disip li yo te debake Jenezarèt. Yo mare bato a. 54 Lè yo desann bato a, moun ki te la yo rekonèt Jezi. 55 Yo kouri gaye nouvèl la nan tout kay kote moun yo rete nan zòn nan. Tout kote Jezi ale, moun yo chaye malad yo kouche sou nat pote ba li. 56 Kèlkeswa kote Jezi ale, nan vilaj, nan vil, andeyò, pèp la mete moun malad yo sou tout plas piblik, epi yo te priye Jezi pou l ba yo pèmisyon pou yo touche ke manto li pou yo ka geri.

The Rejection of Jesus at Nazareth

He went away from there and came to his own country; and his disciples followed him. And on the sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue; and many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get all this? What is the wisdom given to him? What mighty works are wrought by his hands! Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense[a] at him. And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.” And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands upon a few sick people and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief.

And he went about among the villages teaching.

The Mission of the Twelve

And he called to him the twelve, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts; but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics. 10 And he said to them, “Where you enter a house, stay there until you leave the place. 11 And if any place will not receive you and they refuse to hear you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet for a testimony against them.” 12 So they went out and preached that men should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them.

The Death of John the Baptist

14 King Herod heard of it; for Jesus’[b] name had become known. Some[c] said, “John the baptizer has been raised from the dead; that is why these powers are at work in him.” 15 But others said, “It is Eli′jah.” And others said, “It is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old.” 16 But when Herod heard of it he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised.” 17 For Herod had sent and seized John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Hero′di-as, his brother Philip’s wife; because he had married her. 18 For John said to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.” 19 And Hero′di-as had a grudge against him, and wanted to kill him. But she could not, 20 for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. When he heard him, he was much perplexed; and yet he heard him gladly. 21 But an opportunity came when Herod on his birthday gave a banquet for his courtiers and officers and the leading men of Galilee. 22 For when Hero′di-as’ daughter came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests; and the king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will grant it.” 23 And he vowed to her, “Whatever you ask me, I will give you, even half of my kingdom.” 24 And she went out, and said to her mother, “What shall I ask?” And she said, “The head of John the baptizer.” 25 And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, saying, “I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter.” 26 And the king was exceedingly sorry; but because of his oaths and his guests he did not want to break his word to her. 27 And immediately the king sent a soldier of the guard and gave orders to bring his head. He went and beheaded him in the prison, 28 and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother. 29 When his disciples heard of it, they came and took his body, and laid it in a tomb.

Feeding the Five Thousand

30 The apostles returned to Jesus, and told him all that they had done and taught. 31 And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a lonely place, and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. 32 And they went away in the boat to a lonely place by themselves. 33 Now many saw them going, and knew them, and they ran there on foot from all the towns, and got there ahead of them. 34 As he went ashore he saw a great throng, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things. 35 And when it grew late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is a lonely place, and the hour is now late; 36 send them away, to go into the country and villages round about and buy themselves something to eat.” 37 But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said to him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii[d] worth of bread, and give it to them to eat?” 38 And he said to them, “How many loaves have you? Go and see.” And when they had found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.” 39 Then he commanded them all to sit down by companies upon the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups, by hundreds and by fifties. 41 And taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples to set before the people; and he divided the two fish among them all. 42 And they all ate and were satisfied. 43 And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish. 44 And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.

Jesus Walks on the Water

45 Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Beth-sa′ida, while he dismissed the crowd. 46 And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray. 47 And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land. 48 And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out; 50 for they all saw him, and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; have no fear.” 51 And he got into the boat with them and the wind ceased. And they were utterly astounded, 52 for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

Healing the Sick in Gennesaret

53 And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennes′aret, and moored to the shore. 54 And when they got out of the boat, immediately the people recognized him, 55 and ran about the whole neighborhood and began to bring sick people on their pallets to any place where they heard he was. 56 And wherever he came, in villages, cities, or country, they laid the sick in the market places, and besought him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment; and as many as touched it were made well.
