Сунамката и Елисей
8 (A)А Елисей беше говорил на жената, чийто син беше съживил: Стани и иди, ти и домът ти, и поживей там, където можеш да живееш; защото Господ повика глада и ще дойде на земята, и ще продължи седем години.
2 И жената беше станала и постъпила според думите на Божия човек, и беше отишла, тя и домът ѝ, да живее във филистимската земя седем години.
3 А в края на седемте години жената се върна от филистимската земя; и излезе да вика към царя за къщата си и за нивите си.
4 (B)А царят разговаряше със слугата на Божия човек Гиезий и казваше: Я ми разкажи за всички големи дела, които Елисей извърши.
5 (C)И когато разказваше на царя как пророкът беше съживил мъртвия, жената, чийто син беше съживил, извика към царя за къщата си и за нивите си. И Гиезий каза: Господарю мой, царю, тази е жената и този е синът ѝ, когото Елисей съживи.
6 Царят запита жената и тя му разказа историята. Тогава царят ѝ определи един чиновник, на когото нареди: Върни всичко, което е било нейно, и цялата реколта от нивите ѝ от деня, когато е напуснала страната, досега.
Болестта на сирийския цар Венадад
7 Елисей отиде в Дамаск. А сирийският цар Венадад беше болен; и му известиха: Божият човек дойде тук.
8 (D)Царят каза на Азаил: Вземи подарък в ръката си и иди да посрещнеш Божия човек, и се допитай чрез него до Господа: Ще оздравея ли от тази болест?
9 И Азаил отиде, за да го посрещне, като взе със себе си подарък от всяко благо от Дамаск, четиридесет камилски товари; дойде, застана пред него и каза: Синът ти Венадад, сирийският цар, ме прати при теб и попита: Ще оздравея ли от тази болест?
10 (E)Елисей му отговори: Иди, кажи му: Непременно ще оздравееш от болестта. Обаче, Господ ми яви, че непременно ще умре.
11 (F)И втренчи погледа си в Азаил, без да мръдне, докато онзи се засрами; и Божият човек заплака.
12 (G)А Азаил попита: Защо плачеш, господарю мой? А той отговори: Защото зная колко зло ще сториш на израилтяните: укрепленията им ще предадеш на огън, младежите им ще избиеш с меч, малките им деца ще смажеш и бременните им жени ще разпориш.
13 (H)Азаил каза: Но какво е слугата ти, кучето, за да извърши това голямо дело? Елисей отговори: Господ ми яви, че ти ще царуваш над Сирия.
14 Тогава Азаил си тръгна от Елисей, дойде при господаря си и той го запита: Какво ти каза Елисей? Азаил отговори: Каза ми, че непременно ще оздравееш.
15 А на другия ден взе завивката и като я натопи във вода, разпростря я по лицето му, така че царят умря. А вместо него се възцари Азаил.
Юдейското царство при Йорам и Охозия
16 (I)И в петата година на Израилевия цар Йорам, син на Ахаав, се възцари Йорам, син на Юдейския цар Йосафат.
17 (J)Той беше на възраст тридесет и две години, когато се възцари, и царува̀ осем години в Йерусалим.
18 (K)И ходѝ в пътя на Израилевите царе, както постъпваше Ахаавовият дом, защото жена му беше Ахаавова дъщеря; и вършѝ зло пред Господа.
19 (L)При все това Господ не поиска да изтреби Юдея заради слугата Си Давид, както му беше обещал, че ще даде светилник на него и на потомците му до века.
20 (M)В неговите дни Едом отхвърли властта на Юдея и си поставиха свой цар.
21 Затова Йорам замина за Саир заедно с всички колесници; и като стана през нощта, порази едомците, които го обкръжаваха, и началниците на колесниците; а народът побегна в шатрите си.
22 (N)Обаче Едом отхвърли властта на Юдея и остана независим до днес. Тогава, в същото време, и Ливна стана независима.

8 以利沙曾经救活了一位书念妇人的儿子。他对那妇人说：“你和家人要离开这里去别处寄居，因为耶和华已决定使这里遭受七年饥荒。” 2 那妇人遵照上帝仆人的话，举家迁往非利士，在那里寄居了七年。 3 七年后，她从非利士返回，去向王请求收回自己的房屋和田地。 4 那时，王正与上帝仆人的侍者基哈西谈话，让基哈西把以利沙所做的一切大事讲给他听。 5 基哈西正在向王讲述以利沙如何使死人复活的时候，那位书念妇人刚好进宫求见王，基哈西便说：“我主我王，这就是那妇人，这是她那个被以利沙救活的儿子。” 6 王问那妇人，她便原原本本地将那件事禀告王。王委派一位臣仆处理她的事情，并吩咐说：“凡属于这妇人的东西，包括从她离开本地直到今天她田地的所有出产，要全部还给她。”
以利沙对哈薛的预言
7 一天，以利沙到了大马士革。当时亚兰王便·哈达正在生病，他得知上帝的仆人来了， 8 便对哈薛说：“你带着礼物去见上帝的仆人，请他求问耶和华，看看我这病能否痊愈。” 9 哈薛用四十头骆驼驮着大马士革的各种美物前去拜见以利沙。到了那里，他站在以利沙面前说：“你儿子亚兰王便·哈达派我来问你，他的病能否痊愈？”
10 以利沙对哈薛说：“你去告诉他，他一定会痊愈。不过，耶和华告诉我他会死。” 11 他目不转睛地盯着哈薛，盯得他很不安。然后，上帝的仆人哭了。 12 哈薛问：“我主为什么哭呢？”以利沙说：“因为我知道你会加害以色列人。你会放火烧他们的堡垒，用刀杀戮他们的壮丁，摔死他们的孩童，剖开他们的孕妇。” 13 哈薛说：“你仆人算什么，不过是一条狗，怎能做这样的大事呢？”以利沙说：“耶和华告诉我，你要做亚兰王。” 14 哈薛辞别以利沙回去了。王问他：“以利沙对你说什么？”他答道：“以利沙告诉我，你一定会痊愈。” 15 第二天，哈薛拿了一床浸透水的被子，蒙在王的脸上，王窒息而死。于是哈薛篡位。
约兰做犹大王
16 以色列王亚哈的儿子约兰执政第五年，犹大王约沙法让位给儿子约兰。 17 约兰三十二岁登基，在耶路撒冷执政八年。 18 他与亚哈家一样步以色列诸王的后尘，因为他娶了亚哈的女儿为妻，做耶和华视为恶的事。 19 但耶和华因祂仆人大卫的缘故而不愿毁灭犹大，因为祂曾应许让大卫的子孙永远做王。 20 约兰执政期间，以东人反叛犹大，自己立王。 21 约兰率领所有战车前往撒益，他和战车长们被以东人包围。他们乘夜出击，突出重围，各自逃回家去。 22 以东人至今仍脱离犹大的统治。立拿人也在那个时候叛变了。

The Shunammite’s Land Restored
8 Now Elisha had said to the woman(A) whose son he had restored to life, “Go away with your family and stay for a while wherever you can, because the Lord has decreed a famine(B) in the land that will last seven years.”(C) 2 The woman proceeded to do as the man of God said. She and her family went away and stayed in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3 At the end of the seven years she came back from the land of the Philistines and went to appeal to the king for her house and land. 4 The king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, and had said, “Tell me about all the great things Elisha has done.” 5 Just as Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had restored(D) the dead to life, the woman whose son Elisha had brought back to life came to appeal to the king for her house and land.
Gehazi said, “This is the woman, my lord the king, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.” 6 The king asked the woman about it, and she told him.
Then he assigned an official to her case and said to him, “Give back everything that belonged to her, including all the income from her land from the day she left the country until now.”
Hazael Murders Ben-Hadad
7 Elisha went to Damascus,(E) and Ben-Hadad(F) king of Aram was ill. When the king was told, “The man of God has come all the way up here,” 8 he said to Hazael,(G) “Take a gift(H) with you and go to meet the man of God. Consult(I) the Lord through him; ask him, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’”
9 Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a gift forty camel-loads of all the finest wares of Damascus. He went in and stood before him, and said, “Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to ask, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’”
10 Elisha answered, “Go and say to him, ‘You will certainly recover.’(J) Nevertheless,[a] the Lord has revealed to me that he will in fact die.” 11 He stared at him with a fixed gaze until Hazael was embarrassed.(K) Then the man of God began to weep.(L)
12 “Why is my lord weeping?” asked Hazael.
“Because I know the harm(M) you will do to the Israelites,” he answered. “You will set fire to their fortified places, kill their young men with the sword, dash(N) their little children(O) to the ground, and rip open(P) their pregnant women.”
13 Hazael said, “How could your servant, a mere dog,(Q) accomplish such a feat?”
“The Lord has shown me that you will become king(R) of Aram,” answered Elisha.
14 Then Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. When Ben-Hadad asked, “What did Elisha say to you?” Hazael replied, “He told me that you would certainly recover.” 15 But the next day he took a thick cloth, soaked it in water and spread it over the king’s face, so that he died.(S) Then Hazael succeeded him as king.
Jehoram King of Judah(T)
16 In the fifth year of Joram(U) son of Ahab king of Israel, when Jehoshaphat was king of Judah, Jehoram(V) son of Jehoshaphat began his reign as king of Judah. 17 He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. 18 He followed the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter(W) of Ahab. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. 19 Nevertheless, for the sake of his servant David, the Lord was not willing to destroy(X) Judah. He had promised to maintain a lamp(Y) for David and his descendants forever.
20 In the time of Jehoram, Edom rebelled against Judah and set up its own king.(Z) 21 So Jehoram[b] went to Zair with all his chariots. The Edomites surrounded him and his chariot commanders, but he rose up and broke through by night; his army, however, fled back home. 22 To this day Edom has been in rebellion(AA) against Judah. Libnah(AB) revolted at the same time.
23 As for the other events of Jehoram’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 24 Jehoram rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. And Ahaziah his son succeeded him as king.
Ahaziah King of Judah(AC)
25 In the twelfth(AD) year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign. 26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah,(AE) a granddaughter of Omri(AF) king of Israel. 27 He followed the ways of the house of Ahab(AG) and did evil(AH) in the eyes of the Lord, as the house of Ahab had done, for he was related by marriage to Ahab’s family.
28 Ahaziah went with Joram son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead.(AI) The Arameans wounded Joram; 29 so King Joram returned to Jezreel(AJ) to recover from the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramoth[c] in his battle with Hazael(AK) king of Aram.
Then Ahaziah(AL) son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to Jezreel to see Joram son of Ahab, because he had been wounded.

Famine Predicted. 1 Now Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “You and your household must get up and go to dwell wherever you can, for the Lord has called a famine down upon the land, and it will last for seven years.”
2 The woman rose up and did what the man of God had told her to do. She and her household went and dwelt in the land of the Philistines for seven years. 3 At the end of seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines. She went to the king and begged for her house and her land.
4 The king had been talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, and he had said, “Please tell me all of the great things that Elisha has done.” 5 Just as he was recounting to the king how he had restored a dead body to life, the woman whose son he had restored to life beseeched the king for her house and her land. Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman whose son Elisha restored to life.”
6 The king questioned the woman about it, and she told him about it. The king assigned an official for her case, saying, “Restore everything to her, including the produce from the field from the day she left the land up until the present.”
Ben-hadad’s Death Foretold. 7 Elisha went to Damascus, to Ben-hadad, the king of the Arameans, who was ill. He was told, “The man of God has come here.”
8 The king said to Hazael, “Take a present with you and go and meet the man of God. Inquire of the Lord through him, asking, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’ ”
9 Hazael went to meet him, and he took a present of forty camel loads of the finest products of Damascus with him. He stood before him and said, “Ben-hadad the king of Aram, has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I recover from this illness?’ ” 10 Elisha answered, “Go and say to him, ‘You will surely recover,’ for the Lord has revealed to me that he will surely die.”[a]
11 He continued to stare at him until he became embarrassed. The man of God then began to weep. 12 Hazael asked, “Why is my lord weeping?” He answered, “Because I know what harm you will do to the Israelites. You will burn down their strongholds, you will put their young men to the sword, you will dash their children to the ground, and you will rip open their pregnant women.” 13 Hazael said, “But how could your servant, who is nothing more than a dog,[b] do such a great thing?” Elisha answered, “The Lord has revealed to me that you will be the king of Aram.”
14 He left Elisha and went back to his master who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” He answered, “He told me that you will surely recover.” 15 The next day he took a thick cloth and soaked it in water. He placed it over the king’s face, so that he died. Hazael then reigned in his stead.
16 Reign of Joram of Judah. In the fifth year of the reign of Joram, the son of Ahab, the king of Israel, when Jehoshaphat was the king of Judah, Joram, the son of Jehoshaphat, began to reign over Judah. 17 He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem. 18 He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had, for the daughter of Ahab was his wife. He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. 19 Yet, the Lord would not destroy Judah for the sake of David, his servant, for he had promised to give a light to him and his children forever.
20 During his reign, Edom rebelled against Judah and set up their own king. 21 Joram went to Zair with all of his chariots. He rose up during the night and attacked the Edomites who had surrounded him. The captains of his chariots and his army fled back home. 22 Edom has been in a state of rebellion against Judah up to the present. Libnah rebelled at the same time.
23 As for the other deeds of Joram, what he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
24 Joram slept with his fathers, and he was buried with his fathers in the City of David, and Ahaziah, his son, reigned in his stead.
25 Ahaziah Rules Judah. Ahaziah, the son of Joram, began to reign as the king of Judah during the twelfth year of the reign of Joram, the son of Ahab, the king of Israel. 26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem for one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah. She was the daughter of Omri, the king of Israel.[c] 27 He walked in the ways of the house of Ahab and did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, as the house of Ahab had, for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
28 He went to war against Hazael, the king of Aram, at Ramoth-gilead along with Joram, the son of Ahab. The Arameans wounded Joram. 29 Joram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds he had received from the Arameans at Ramoth when he fought against Hazael, the king of the Arameans.
Ahaziah, the son of Joram, the king of Judah, went down to visit Joram, the son of Ahab, in Jezreel because he was ill.

2 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3 And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.
4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.
5 And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.
6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.
7 And Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.
8 And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the Lord by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?
9 So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Benhadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?
10 And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the Lord hath shewed me that he shall surely die.
11 And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.
12 And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.
13 And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.
14 So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.
15 And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.
16 And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Je hoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
17 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
18 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the Lord.
19 Yet the Lord would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.
20 In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
21 So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.
22 Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.
23 And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
24 And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
