3 (A)И тъй, молете се за нас, братя, щото словото Господне да се разпространява и се слави навред, както и у вас,
2 и да се избавим от безчинни и лукави човеци, защото не всички имат вяра.
3 (B)Но верен е Господ, Който ще ви утвърди и запази от лукавия.
4 Ние сме уверени за вас в Господа, че вършите и ще вършите, що ви заповядваме.
5 А Господ да насочи сърцата ви към любов Божия и търпение Христово.
6 Заповядваме ви също, братя, в името на Господа нашего Иисуса Христа, да страните от всеки брат, който постъпва безчинно, а не по преданието, що е получил от нас.
7 (C)Сами знаете, как трябва да подражавате нам, защото ние не безчинствувахме при вас,
8 (D)нито у някого ядохме хляб даром, а работехме с труд и мъка деня и нощя, за да не отегчим някого от вас, –
9 (E)и не за това, че нямахме власт, а за да ви дадем себе си за пример, та да ни подражавате.
10 (F)Защото и когато бяхме между вас, наръчвахме ви това: който не иска да се труди, не бива и да яде.
11 Но слушаме, че някои у вас живеят безчинно, нищо не работят, а се занимават с празни работи;
12 на такива заповядваме и ги молим в Господа нашего Иисуса Христа да работят безшумно и свой си хляб да ядат.
13 (G)А вие, братя, не падайте духом, кога вършите добро.
14 (H)Ако ли някой не послуша думите ни в това послание, забележете го и не се сношавайте с него, за да се засрами;
15 и го не смятайте за враг, а го наставлявайте като брат.
16 (I)А Сам Господ на мира да ви дава мир винаги и всякак; Господ да бъде с всички вас!
17 Саморъчен поздрав от мене, Павла; това е белег във всяко послание; аз пиша тъй:
18 благодатта на Господа нашего Иисуса Христа да бъде с всички вас. Амин.

Молете се за нас
3 И накрая искаме да ви кажем още някои неща: братя и сестри, молете се за нас. Молете се Господното послание да се разпространи бързо и да се посрещне с почит, както беше при вас. 2 Молете се също да бъдем защитени от лоши и зли хора (защото не всички вярват).
3 Но Господ държи на думата си. Той ще ви даде сили и ще ви пази от лукавия. 4 В Господа ние ви имаме доверие и сме сигурни, че вършите и ще продължите да вършите това, което ви казваме. 5 Молим се Господ да води сърцата ви да обичате като Бога и да бъдете търпеливи като Христос.
Задължението да се трудим
6 Братя и сестри, в името на нашия Господ Исус Христос ви заповядваме да стоите настрана от всеки брат, който е мързелив и не живее според учението, което е получил от нас. 7 Казвам това, защото вие сами знаете как трябва да ни подражавате, защото не бяхме мързеливи, докато живяхме сред вас, 8 нито ядохме храната на някого, без да си платим. Request for Prayer
3 As for other matters, brothers and sisters,(A) pray for us(B) that the message of the Lord(C) may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.(D) 2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people,(E) for not everyone has faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful,(F) and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.(G) 4 We have confidence(H) in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts(I) into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
Warning Against Idleness
6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,(J) we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from(K) every believer who is idle and disruptive(L) and does not live according to the teaching[a] you received from us.(M) 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example.(N) We were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked(O) night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help,(P) but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate.(Q) 10 For even when we were with you,(R) we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work(S) shall not eat.”
11 We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies.(T) 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ(U) to settle down and earn the food they eat.(V) 13 And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.(W)
14 Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them,(X) in order that they may feel ashamed.(Y) 15 Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer.(Z)
Final Greetings
16 Now may the Lord of peace(AA) himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.(AB)
17 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand,(AC) which is the distinguishing mark in all my letters. This is how I write.
18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.(AD)

Request for Prayers. 1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, so that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified, as it was with you. 2 Pray too that we may be rescued from wicked and evil people, for not all have faith.
3 However, the Lord is faithful. He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. 4 And we are confident in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do all that we direct you to do. 5 May the Lord guide your hearts to the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ.
Christian Value of Work.[a] 6 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, brethren, we command you to keep your distance from any of the brethren who are living an idle existence and who disregard the tradition you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you should follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you. 8 We did not ever accept food from anyone, but with toil and drudgery we worked night and day so that we would not burden any of you. 9 We did so, not because we have no right to accept such help, but to present ourselves as a model for you to imitate.
10 In fact, even when we were with you, we charged that anyone who was unwilling to work should not eat. 11 Now we have been told that some among you are living a life of idleness, not working but acting as busybodies. 12 We command and urge such people in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and earn their own living.
13 Brethren, never grow weary of doing what is right. 14 If anyone refuses to obey our instructions in this letter, take note of him and have nothing to do with him so that he may be put to shame. 15 However, do not treat him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
Conclusion[b]
16 Final Prayer. May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
17 Final Blessing. I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand. It is the distinguishing mark of every letter of mine. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

- 2 Thessalonians 3:6 In putting work at the service of the community, Paul places it under the sign of love for God, for one’s brothers and sisters, and for the Church. To eat one’s own bread constitutes the primary dignity of a person (v. 10). By demanding exemplary conduct from Christians, Paul remains in line with Jesus and the primitive Church (see Mt 18:15-18; 1 Cor 5:1-13).
- 2 Thessalonians 3:16 In order to discourage forgeries of his letters (see 2 Thes 2:2), Paul takes care to authenticate the letters that he dictates and causes to be set down—he writes out a few words with his own hand (see also 1 Cor 16:21 and Col 4:18). In the cases of Galatians and Philemon, it appears that Paul wrote more than just the concluding phrases (see Gal 6:11 and Philem 19).
