Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
God’s Name Is Great in Israel
For the choir director. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song.
76 God is (A)known in Judah;
His name is (B)great in Israel.
2 So His [a](C)tabernacle is in (D)Salem;
His (E)dwelling place is in Zion.
3 There He (F)broke the [b]flaming arrows,
The shield and the sword and the battle. [c]Selah.
4 You are shining,
Majestic from the mountains of prey.
5 The (G)stouthearted were plundered,
[d]They sank into sleep;
And none of the [e]warriors could use his hands.
6 At Your (H)rebuke, O God of Jacob,
Both (I)chariot rider and horse slumbered into a deep sleep.
7 But You, You are [f](J)fearsome;
And (K)who can stand in Your presence when once [g]You are angry?
14 Then you will (A)see this, and your (B)heart will be joyful,
And your (C)bones will flourish like the new grass;
And the (D)hand of Yahweh will be made known to His slaves,
But He will be (E)indignant toward His enemies.
15 For behold, Yahweh will come in (F)fire
And His (G)chariots like the whirlwind,
To return His anger with wrath,
And His rebuke with flames of fire.
16 For Yahweh will execute judgment by (H)fire
And by His (I)sword on all flesh,
And those slain by Yahweh will be many.
17 “Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go to the (J)gardens,
[a]Following one in the center,
Who eat (K)swine’s flesh, detestable things, and mice,
Will (L)come to an end altogether,” declares Yahweh.
18 “And I [b]know their works and their (M)thoughts; [c]the time is coming to (N)gather all nations and tongues. And they shall come and see My glory. 19 I will set a (O)sign among them and will send those who have escaped from them to the nations: (P)Tarshish, [d]Put, (Q)Lud, [e]Meshech, (R)Tubal, and [f]Javan, to the distant (S)coastlands that have neither heard My report nor seen My glory. And they will (T)declare My glory among the nations. 20 Then they shall (U)bring all your brothers from all the nations as a grain offering to Yahweh, on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules, and on camels, to My (V)holy mountain Jerusalem,” says Yahweh, “just as the sons of Israel bring their grain offering in a (W)clean vessel to the house of Yahweh. 21 I will also take some of them for (X)priests and for Levites,” says Yahweh.
22 “For just as the (Y)new heavens and the new earth
Which I make will endure before Me,” declares Yahweh,
“So your (Z)seed and your (AA)name will endure.
23 And it shall be from (AB)new moon to new moon
And from sabbath to sabbath,
All [g]mankind will come to (AC)worship before Me,” says Yahweh.
24 “Then they will go forth and look
On the (AD)corpses of the men
Who have [h](AE)transgressed against Me.
For their (AF)worm will not die
(AG)And their fire will not be quenched;
And they will be an object of (AH)contempt to all [i]mankind.”
Lament over Jerusalem
37 “(A)Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who (B)kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, (C)the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you did not want it. 38 Behold, (D)your house is being left to you desolate! 39 For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘(E)Blessed is He who comes in the name of the [a]Lord!’”
Signs of Christ’s Return
24 (F)And coming (G)out from the temple, Jesus was going along, and His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. 2 And He answered and said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, (H)not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down.”
3 Now as He was sitting on (I)the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of (J)Your coming and of the [b]end of the age?”
4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “(K)See to it that no one deceives you. 5 For (L)many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the [c]Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you are going to hear of (M)wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 For (N)nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be (O)famines and earthquakes. 8 (P)But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pains.
9 “(Q)Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and (R)you will be hated by all nations because of My name. 10 And at that time many will [d](S)fall away and will [e]betray one another and hate one another. 11 Many (T)false prophets will arise and will deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness is multiplied, [f]most people’s love will grow cold. 13 (U)But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. 14 And this (V)gospel of the kingdom (W)shall be proclaimed in the whole [g](X)world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
