Psalm 102:1-17

Prayer of an Afflicted Man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion.

A Prayer of the afflicted when he is weak and [a]pours out his complaint before the Lord.

102 (A)Hear my prayer, Lord!
And let my cry for help (B)come to You.
(C)Do not hide Your face from me on the day of my distress;
(D)Incline Your ear to me;
On the day when I call (E)answer me quickly.
For my days (F)have ended in smoke,
And my (G)bones have been scorched like a hearth.
My heart (H)has been struck like [b]grass and has (I)withered,
Indeed, I (J)forget to eat my bread.
Because of the [c]loudness of my groaning
My (K)bones [d]cling to my flesh.
I resemble a (L)pelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the ruins.
I (M)lie awake,
I have become like a solitary bird on a housetop.

My enemies (N)have taunted me all day long;
Those who [e](O)deride me [f]have used my name as a (P)curse.
For I have eaten ashes like bread,
And (Q)mixed my drink with weeping
10 (R)Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;
For You have (S)lifted me up and thrown me away.
11 My days are like a [g](T)lengthened shadow,
And [h]I (U)wither away like [i]grass.

12 But You, Lord, [j](V)remain forever,
And Your [k](W)name remains to all generations.
13 You will (X)arise and have (Y)compassion on Zion;
For (Z)it is time to be gracious to her,
For the (AA)appointed time has come.
14 Surely Your servants [l]take pleasure in her stones,
And feel pity for her dust.
15 [m]So the [n](AB)nations will fear the name of the Lord,
And (AC)all the kings of the earth, Your glory.
16 For the Lord has (AD)built up Zion;
He has (AE)appeared in His glory.
17 He has (AF)turned His attention to the prayer of the [o]destitute
And has not despised their prayer.

Jeremiah 25:15-32

15 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to me: “Take this (A)cup of the wine of wrath from My hand and give it to all the nations to whom I send you, to drink from it. 16 Then they will (B)drink and loudly vomit and act insanely because of the sword that I am going to send among them.”

17 So I took the cup from the Lords hand and (C)gave it to all the nations to whom the Lord sent me, to drink from it: 18 To (D)Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, and its kings and its officials, to make them places of ruins, objects of horror, [a]hissing, and a curse, as it is this day; 19 To (E)Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his officials, and all his people; 20 and to all the (F)foreign [b]people, all the kings of the (G)land of Uz, all the kings of the land of the (H)Philistines (that is, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of (I)Ashdod); 21 To (J)Edom, (K)Moab, and the sons of (L)Ammon; 22 and to all the kings of (M)Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of (N)the coastlands which are beyond the sea; 23 and to (O)Dedan, Tema, (P)Buz, and all who (Q)trim the corners of their hair; 24 and to all the kings of (R)Arabia and all the kings of the (S)foreign [c]people who live in the desert; 25 and to all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of (T)Elam, and all the kings of (U)Media; 26 and to all the kings of the north, near and far, one with another; and (V)all the kingdoms of the earth which are on the face of the ground; and the king of [d](W)Sheshach shall drink it after them.

27 “And you shall say to them, ‘This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: “(X)Drink, be drunk, vomit, fall down, and do not get up, because of the (Y)sword which I am sending among you.”’ 28 And if they (Z)refuse to take the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them, ‘This is what the Lord of armies says: “(AA)You shall certainly drink! 29 For behold, I am (AB)beginning to inflict disaster on this city which is (AC)called by My name, so should you be completely free from punishment? You will not be free from punishment, for (AD)I am summoning a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth,” declares the Lord of armies.’

30 “Therefore you shall prophesy against them all these words, and you shall say to them,

‘The (AE)Lord will (AF)roar from on high
And raise His voice from His holy dwelling;
He will roar forcefully against His [e]fold.
He will shout like those who tread the grapes,
Against all the inhabitants of the earth.
31 A clamor has come to the end of the earth,
Because the Lord has (AG)a controversy with the nations.
He is entering into (AH)judgment with [f]humanity;
As for the wicked, He has turned them over to the sword,’ declares the Lord.”

32 This is what the Lord of armies says:
“Behold, evil is going out
From (AI)nation to nation,
And a great (AJ)storm is being stirred up
From the remotest parts of the earth.

Matthew 10:5-15

(A)These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them, saying, “Do not go on a road [a]to Gentiles, and do not enter a city of (B)Samaritans; but rather go to (C)the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, [b]preach, saying, ‘(D)The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. (E)Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, 10 or a [c]bag for your journey, or even two [d]tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for (F)the worker is deserving of his [e]support. 11 And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay [f]at his house until you leave that city. 12 As you enter the [g]house, (G)give it your [h]greeting. 13 If the house is worthy, see that your blessing of peace comes upon it. But if it is not worthy, [i]take back your blessing of peace. 14 And whoever does not receive you nor listen to your words, as you leave that house or city, (H)shake the dust off your feet. 15 Truly I say to you, (I)it will be more tolerable for the land of (J)Sodom and Gomorrah on (K)the day of judgment, than for that city.
